This is ridiculous. I was texted twice to confirm my appointment & fill out paperwork after I booked my appointment & already filled the paperwork out online. I was then called three different times since then! I was called by someone letting me know that they didn't receive my paperwork, then when I let them know I filled it out right after I booked the appointment, they checked & saw it, then they asked me my birthday, which was in the paperwork... Anyway, I told them I looked up the doctors that they offer but when I went to book my appointment, it didn't say who would see me so would I just receive whoever is available. The person told me that there is only one doctor and they'll see me when I come. The next call I received was to ask what insurance I was using, which again, was in the paperwork I filled out... I asked them was there anything else needed from me because I keep getting calls about this one appointment. This would have been my first appointment but I'm not going to use them as a provider. I received a voicemail the morning of my appointment (today) letting me know that I would need to reschedule because the doctor won't be there today. Mind you, I made the appointment last week and have been receiving all of these texts and calls since then... Very unprofessional. read more

I'm giving one star solely because of the customer service received my first visit. Adina (I believe is her name) was kind and very thorough. I came in late April for an exam, and it felt extremely rushed -- to the point I don't remember the Dr's name. Then, I ordered my frames and I was told I would get a text when they were ready. I literally received nothing! They, then, gave me a very small case for a pair of $250 Longchamp sunglasses and the sunglasses became bent in the case due to the shape and size of the case( before I even got to wear them). I went to get the sunglasses fixed, and the young man working was too busy trying to flirt with me that my glasses are still fairly crooked. Completely unprofessional!!!!! I am super unhappy with this experience, overall, and I will be sticking with Warby Parker in the future. read more

Scheduled this location as it was convenient and took my insurance. The staff checked in and did a basic exam, which was pretty smooth, but the doctor seemed pretty rushed, unfriendly, and forced me to take a retina photo exam even though I declined several times. Obviously, my insurance didn't cover it as this was not included in the "general exam." Many Asians generally have poor eyesight, but the doctor talked to me as if my bad eyesight was extremely rare. This location didn't even have sample contact lenses for me to try on so I'm not sure whether this prescription really works for me or not lol. Also, the paper towel machine at the sink for taking off the contact lenses was broken. Thus the roll of paper towel was just left on the table, which was touched by others and dirty. I highly recommend anyone reading this to find another place and save money and time. read more

Customer service is horrible. I scheduled an appointment and let me say that I believe since I waited a few days for my exam and had a specific appointment time then I should be given priority. But this location does not work like this. They assisted a walk-in that walked in after me and made me wait. After about 25 minutes of waiting I ended up leaving. What a joke. If you like confusion and miscommunication- visit this location for your eye care needs. Please have an eye doctor onsite moving forward. Engineering and IT work may be completed remotely with success. Not health services where communication is key with the human being and their health. I have encountered issue after issue with the # 0506 Silver Spring, MD Visionworks location remote doctor effort. Miscommunications between office personnel and the doctor equals absolute poor communication with the customer. I would NOT recommend this site office location # 0506, for eye care. The site manager Jackie is phenomenal. The remote eye doctor Dr. Kristine Zabala is phenomenal. The disconnect in communication and lack of onsite doctors has resulted a horrific and poor experience. I bought my glasses here last year. They advertise 50% off. But when I returned a few weeks ago, the clerks tried to make me purchase two lens when my vision had only changed in one eye. Of all the eye exams and glasses buying experiences I have had (and I have had way too many), this was the best experience from start to finish. It did take about an hour for the whole experience of the virtual appointment but it was worth it. I was hesitant at first to do a virtual appointment but I felt that it was actually more thorough. They do a lot of tests in the beginning and then you are seen virtually by a refractionist. After the refractionist, you are seen by the optometrist. I had the best experience with Dr. Zabala because she was thorough and thoughtful, two of the things I appreciate the most from an appointment. She answered so many of my questions and made sure to tailor my prescription to me, which was different from the one the refractionist had originally calculated. I felt like she really understood my needs. Lisa, who helped me with the glasses buying experience, was also incredibly helpful. I really appreciated how professional and personable she was. I didn't feel pressured to buy anything and she helped me calculate the best price. This was truly the best experience I had. I can't speak for the in-person optometrist, but I highly recommend Lisa and Dr. Zabala who only does virtual appointments. read more

I called same day to hopefully get an eye exam appointment for my son who was heading back to college the next day. They were able to see him in the afternoon which worked out great. We arrived early and waited for a few minutes before he was seen after completing the paperwork. No issues with the exam and fortunately he didn't need glasses. The only problem I have is the lack of parking. There is street parking and a garage across the street for which they don't validate parking. The parking garage charge is minimal at $1/hour. We would likely return, although I'd seek alternatives with ease of parking first. read more

When I arrived I checked in and waited to be seen only to be told they don't do that on Saturday. Although that was upsetting, the reason for my 5 stars goes to the exceptional service Andrea provided. She went above and beyond to assist me. I found a pair of lenses I liked and decided to get them. She was very pleasant and helped me find a time that worked for me to come back to check on the contact lenses. It was busy and there were other challenges going on in the store she helped assist all while providing above and beyond service. Customer service at VisionWorks on Fenton Street in Silver Spring, MD is excellent. I recently bought glasses there, using a new prescription from an optometrist at a different company. The new prescription did not work well. So, then I took a different prescription to VisionWorks. Even though they had not caused the problem, VisionWorks stood by their satisfaction guarantee. VisionWorks replaced the lenses for free. The manager, Jackie, was especially kind and efficient. And the new glasses arrived even faster than promised. read more

The glasses I received were the wrong prescription so I booked an appointment because they blamed me for giving them the wrong prescription and the doctor was over an hour late. Today's visit to the Silver Spring Visionworks on Fenton only reinforced my opinion of the brand. Dr. Kim gave me a thorough exam, answered all of my eye health questions and waited as I tried on different contact lenses to determine which was the best fit for me. T'Keyah patiently researched my insurance to be sure that I received all applicable benefits and checked for my eligibility for discounts. Visionworks is great but the staff at the Silver Spring store have no concept of customer service. I had to visit the store three times AFTER they called to say the glasses were ready before I actually got the glasses. For my inconvenience I asked for a few moist wipes and was refused. Super easy online appointment process. Greeted as soon as I came in and filled out some paperwork. Within 5 minutes, they completed the eye exam testing. Within another 5 minutes of completing that, the doctor called me. (I was a little nervous as 2 others were waiting so I thought they were behind on clients). The exam went pretty quickly. She gave me a free trial pair and I was able to get a box that day. However, she wanted me to try them for 2 weeks before we confirmed my prescription. I let her know I would be on vacation and would be afraid to rip them. She said that she ran out of trials but would order some more. I got a call the next day saying the trials were in. Super great service. Now that I think about it, I can't think of anything negative - well, they guy selected the wrong plan in the system so I am happy that I knew my reimbursable amount and he then selected the right thing. But, the doctor was helpful so I am bumping this to 5 stars! read more

I wish I could give it 0 stars. We went in about 35 minutes before they closed and the receptionist was rude, no greet or follow up. She was a young African American girl who barely said anything. Like at least welcome your customers. Then when it was 5 she literally turned the lights off on us! I felt so rushed, I was already indecisive. When I told her I actually wanted to purchase 2 pair of glasses she came back with all of her stuff and just laid it across the table. This girl was so unprofessional. I'm pretty happy with my experience. I bought glasses in November 2018, and they had a special glare coating. By this summer (about 8 months), the coating was so scratched that the glasses were useless. Immediately, Visionworks acknowledged the problem, and the staff didn't blame me when I showed them I have other glasses that are okay after longer use. They replaced the glasses for under $40, though I didn't purchase a warranty or insurance. So, while the glasses were not perfect the first time, they stood behind the product and solved my problem. read more

I wish I could give them zero stars. Totally unprofessional, disorganized, and rude. It took them THREE MONTHS to get my contacts, and when I picked them up they were the wrongs ones. The manager was a snappy c*** and loudly began scolding me in front of other customers stating that it was my fault that her employees wrote down the wrong order. I honestly get the feeling that they may be committing insurance fraud, among other things. Regardless, I felt like I was in the twilight zone. Horrible experience. New to the area, came in to look around as I'm looking to get new glasses and had a nosepiece fall out of my current pair. I described my situation to the guy at the men's section (can't remember his name), and he offered to fix the nosepieces without charge, giving me new nosepieces. (I was not a previous customer). I came to this VisionWorks location for my first eye exam in years. The staff was very friendly and made the experience a pleasant one. I didn't have to wait long to see Dr. Eric Heaps, who proved to be very knowledgable and courteous. Once the exam was finished, the staff was helpful in choosing my frames. When my glasses came in I was notified promptly. The hours are convenient as I was able to get there after work to pick up my glasses. Almost a 30 minute wait between my scheduled appointment time and actually getting back to see the doctor. The doctor was thorough, but did little to interact with me as a patient (I don't even remember her introducing herself when bringing me back for the exam). She didn't look at me unless she was looking in my eyes -- very impersonal, at best. Exam-wise? No complaints. Patient experience? Underwhelming. At checkout, I was informed that I would be charged above and beyond the "Annual Exam" that my insurance covers. I asked why I wasn't informed prior to being billed the "extra" contact evaluation and was told "Normally, we do." In my case, they didn't. The receptionist was wearing headphones throughout the encounter and did an unsatisfactory job of explaining why I was charged for the additional exam and managed to throw her co-worker under the bus while doing so ("I normally tell people about it, but I didn't handle your intake, so..."). If you need something diagnosed, then they're worth seeing. Just don't expect them to take much interest in you besides being just another patient. read more

I had a smooth and pleasant experience with Visionworks, from the ease of the online booking system to the friendly staff and the very short wait to see a doctor. It has been a couple years since my last eye exam so maybe this is standard now, but I thought the machine that scans inside your retinas (without making your eyes blurry for 4 hours) was pretty spiffy. One star off because I wanted to send off my current frames to get new lens put in and was quoted $162 (50% off the regular price of $324) just for the lens. I get that brick-and-mortar stores have to make a buck to afford rent &c, but 5 times more expensive than the same lens via 39DollarGlasses or whatever is too many bucks. read more

I must have been here on a day where Dr. Cypress was very overworked. My appointment was late, even though there were few people in the store. When I finally did see her, her office smelled musty, and everything felt very rushed and impersonal. I felt like a nuisance just asking about an eye problem I was having, since it was outside of a routine checkup. She diagnosed me quickly and roughly and I tried to ask questions but again had to interject quickly to get a word in. (Turns out I did in fact have an eye infection, but she only prescribed over the counter solutions and I'm still dealing with the problem). Honestly I was so frazzled about the whole thing that I left crying. I think the front desk guy noticed because he was really nice to me. I would not come back here after this experience. read more

We visited at opening hour at 1:30 pm on Sunday and we saw there is a sitcky note on the door it says " Will be back in 30 min" then we waited and see there is actually a female staff sat inside of the store. This lady opened the door and asked what do we want and as if she is doing us a favor then she took down the sticky note and locked the entrance door again. She pointed where are the glasses and kept on talking on her personal mobile phone afterwards and she never got back to us after we left. If I was her boss I would definitely fire her and who knows how long that 30 min break has been going on! read more

Truly excellent experience here. I walked in on a whim, needing a new set of lenses for my old favorite frames. Two women immediately greeted me. The ophthalmologist was available within 5 minutes, and she was thorough, competent and kind. When I went to pay, the receptionist let me know my insurance covered the exam and she gave me a house discount on the lenses - all without my asking. She explained that I could either turn over my frames and wait 10-14 days for the lenses, or keep the frames and bring them to the Laurel store when the new lenses arrived to have them fit on-site.
