I am giving 2 stars because of selection. If you have a narrow head then you'll certainly be able to find a pair. Those of us with a wider head are limited to just a few models that will either uncomfortably squeeze your head, slide off your face, or feel extremely cheap (think 2-3$ feel). It was a bit of a nightmare to realize that you had your exams done at a place that does not facilitate adequate selections for those with wide heads. Every pair should come with optional widths. I left empty handed and still needing a pair of glasses. Update: I'm so glad that I didn't settle for a pair here. I found a delightful pair at another store. For anyone reading this - look for your frames before you sign up for an exam. If they don't have frames that work - find a new place to have your exam done. read more

canceled my appointment at VisionWorks-Northgate, and I will not return because of how I was treated. I arrived early because I was unfamiliar with the building. I could not complete the paperwork on my phone. I have a leg and balance limitation, so I needed extra time. The office had sent parking instructions ahead of time. However, when I arrived, I was unable to park in the area referenced in those instructions because those spaces were already full. That left me trying to navigate an unfamiliar parking structure while dealing with mobility and balance limitations. The parking structure and access to the office were confusing. I could not safely use the escalators, or the stairwells due to my balance. The elevators did not clearly lead to the office entrance. I ended up walking down a concrete incline through the parking garage and then around the building just to reach the office. When I arrived, the doors were still locked. The employee inside stayed seated behind the desk and flashed hand signals through the glass instead of coming to the door and speaking with me directly. I could not tell what he was trying to communicate. I stood outside for approximately 10 minutes because there were no chairs available nearby to sit down and wait. What frustrated me most was that he clearly had access to the appointment schedule on his iPad and could have simply asked my name and allowed me to sit inside while he finished preparing to open. A more professional and compassionate response would have been to acknowledge the situation and say something simple such as, "You can come in and have a seat. I just need a few more minutes before we officially open." Once I was finally let inside, I explained that accessing the office had already been physically challenging for me. I explained that I had arrived early because the paperwork system on the phone was not working well for me. His response felt cold, rigid, and dismissive. I then decided to cancel the appointment. The interaction became even more uncomfortable. He immediately canceled it, looked toward the exit, then stood holding the door open in a way that clearly felt like he wanted me gone. Patients coming to an eye care office may already have mobility, balance, vision, or technology challenges. I did not feel respected, accommodated, or treated with basic courtesy during this experience. read more

The service is really good, there is a girl in the front desk, I really love her. Every time that I went there because I needed something, she was there to help me. Also the doctor that I had, was amazing. I highly recommend this place!! read more

Props to managers who can turn around a hard situation! I walked in off the street around an hour from closing on a Friday, hoping to avoid going to Costco. I have a pretty involved vision-rehab regimen, and some specialty lenses had been sent to me from a practice I attend across the country. They come from ONE lab. Not replicable. I needed them installed in the frame I'd been wearing. This is a service a lot of opticians will offer, gratis, like bending stems or adjusting frames, getting new pads. But: it DOES take time, and I wasn't in care there. o: it's a pro bono service near CoB. Frankly, I have a stack of eye clinics I go to, and a couple extra pairs of frames -- BUT if the $300 *lenses* don't have a frame to go in, well, that's time + $. For whatever reason, the frame broke just getting the old lens out. That CAN happen to ANYONE, though there IS a skill component to it. Age/wear of frame CAN be the issue, and if the lens is thick, that can, too. So this isn't any place to assign any blame. But -- everyone feels antsy, now. I braced for dealing with getting a pair of frames marked/shipped, and out more $ to get another pair of lenses. Not how anyone wants to end the business week. The staff tell me they'll try to find a frame the lenses will fit in, and install them, give me a free pair. Wow. Well, that helps. This is not easy to do. They have a large selection of frames, and they didn't feel confident about what they had. So, I spent :20 or so looking for a frame I'd be willing to replace with, besides what they were looking at, explaining what I needed out of a frame, generally, for my rehab. Staff are starting to head home, and do. The store thins out -- soon it's down to two staff and me. The manager is working with me, and she pulls the best-fit out: not my best color, but I'm doing rehab, and I'm not going to worry about color. We try the old lens and it fits ok, goes in ok. She puts in the new one for that side, starts to try the other side, and then... that frame breaks, too. Lordy. She finds another 'also-ran' for fit of lens, and works with that. Women do not have as much hand strength as men, as a rule, and we are concerned about the calluses on her thumbs. She's getting a hand workout, using hand tools and heat. Somehow, she manages to open up the 2nd frame enough with the old lenses that, on a 2nd round, the new lenses fit. Success! Success for me, but writing off TWO pairs of frames to maintain goodwill on a free service for her and the store. Need to recognize it was more than the near HOUR and a HALF of time she gave me. Someone gets to write off two frames. I don't expect that kind of service, and I don't such service that much, but General Manager Jennifer Gwinn is running a pretty conscientious business, I'd say, and I'd like folks to know. I can't speak to quality of frames, or their lab for lenses, or anything about their clinician who refracts, but I can say the shop is convenient, has good deck parking, is bright, clean, and well organized, and I will certainly commended them for honest hard work and a commitment to service. I had a great experience at Visionworks this past weekend. I made an appointment for a vision exam online (awesome, I hate talking on the phone), found parking in the garage and checked in a few minutes early. After a minimal wait, I was taken back for pre-testing, then almost immediately seen by the doctor for the actual exam. The doctor listened to my concerns and actually held a discussion with me, which has not always been the case at other places. The exam was a typical eye exam. I browsed their frame selection, which is helpfully organized by frame shape, and found a few cute options, but wasn't really in the market for new frames, so didn't buy and no one pressured me to do so, which was great. I will be a repeat customer for sure. read more

The service was excellent--very attentive and professional. The associates were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations while being polite and helpful. The doctor was also fantastic, taking the time to ask thorough questions, address my concerns, and conduct detailed tests. I had an appointment at Vision Works scheduled for 11:45 AM. Despite arriving a few minutes after my appointment time, I was not attended to until 12:12 PM. Then, I was informed that I would have to wait an additional hour because they were backed up and prioritizing other appointments before mine. There was a woman that wanted to make it a point to ask me did I have an appointment and then proceed to tell her associate I am late in front of other customers. This experience highlights a severe lack of customer service. Waiting over an hour past my appointment time, only to be told to wait even longer, is unacceptable. It's clear that Vision Works does not prioritize their customers' time or satisfaction. Businesses need to understand the importance of good customer service. When employees are not trained to provide a positive experience, it results in losing customers and receiving negative reviews. Vision Works needs to address these issues if they want to retain their clientele. read more

Their frame selection is large and organized by categories which is very helpful. Prices are good. The optical staff including Kristina was very helpful throughout: helping me select a frame, handling my health insurance on the order, and adjusting the new glasses when they arrived. I made my eye appointment a few months ago after they confirmed that they were in-network. I received about 7 reminders about it, and then the day before the appointment, they called to tell me my insurance was not in-network which forced me to have to find another place and wait months for an appointment. Why wouldn't they have checked carefully the first time, or let me know when they had 5 months to do so? Super inconsiderate. read more

Is it possible to have zero customer service? We went in to buy glasses only and the staff was not helpful at all (she would not advise on fit without repeated requests and would barely get up out of her chair behind the desk.) We were the only customers in the store so this was surprising as she didn't seem busy with anything else. She was polite enough but just totally unhelpful. read more

I had a great experience at Visionworks! It was so quick and convenient to schedule my appointment. Upon arrival, I was greeted with smiling faces and very attentive staff. Kristina and Matthew were very helpful and kind. The provider, Louisa Hua was very friendly, thorough and answered all questions that I had with care and attentiveness.
