I was so impressed with the service at Visionworks. I had initially gone to my eye doctors only to be told they no longer accepted my insurance ( which was false and a mistake made by three staff members). I left frustrated and I scheduled an appointment online for The very next day at Visionworks, Pompton Plains. I have to say, I was extremely happy with the service. All four staff members from the doctor who was a complete joy, to the manager, the the initial eye testing Technician and then Carmen who was fabulous in helping me choose my glasses. But to be fair so did the manager jump in with his help and opinion. Picking the right glasses is a pain and there are sooo many choices! Do not come here. I will pay you your eyeglasses exam fee to not come here. That's how bad it is. The incompetence, the service, the rudeness, everything. I have been wearing glasses and contacts since I was a teenager and this place fails to meet expectations on the most basic fronts. 1. Prescription: they messed up my dad's prescription so they had to redo it and he ended up having to wait 2 months to get prescription sunglasses. 2. The wait time to get glasses done (simple single vision) takes 2 weeks. They must be sending the prescriptions to China because it just cannot take this long if it's done domestically. 3. Prescriptions request: I have been coming here pre-covid for years, and they refuse to generate prescriptions unless a doctor handwrites them. If its in the system, why can't they print them out? Simple basic things like that, and they make you wait indefinitely. Stupidity reigns. 4. Wrong prescription, So, after requesting a prescription (see #3), they give you the wrong one. Right, the doctor writes the wrong one? This is a worse than the circus. Funny, but not. 5. Service of waiting: the only thing they know how to do is to tell people to wait. Indefinitely. 6. Hiding goods: My mom showed interest in a pair of frames but the hefty guy there refused to sell it to her. He hid it in a drawer. After bringing all the paperwork, he pretended he didnt know where he put it. I opened the drawer where he hid it. Pretended he didnt even know. Bad acting, thats why he didnt make it to Hollywood / Broadway and is still working there. 7. No after-service: my mom wanted a slight adjustment to her glasses that she bought here. The lady there pretends she cant fix it . They think only linearly: if I fix it for her, she wont get new glasses here. Who says you're the only glasses maker in town? This place needs a change in management and staff. Or just maybe close it down. I will never come here and have advised my entire family (who all wear glasses) and friends to avoid this place. I had to wait 40 minutes just to pick up my glasses, which should've only taken a 5 minute walk in. It's honestly ridiculous that there were only two people working at the front desk with over 6 customers waiting for assistance, and others constantly walking in. I had to wait over half an hour because of how many other customers there were and how slow they were with helping them. On top of this, the woman who gave me my new glasses did not even bother to help me adjust them, she simply handed them to me and sent me off. Due to this neglect, my new glasses are way too tight on my face and I'll have to get them adjusted elsewhere. I will not be coming here again since it was a total waste of time and extremely slow and bad service. read more

We were there today to fix my son's glasses. A girl named Ariana tried to repair them but ended up ruining both lenses. She heated them, and now they have two large smudges that won't go away. She smiled and said "we are not responsible for the damage" and didn't apologize. When I said I would write a review, she replied, "Go ahead!" This visionworks gave me a really strange contact prescription pretty far off from my glasses prescription. I asked if they could adjust it slightly - and this took months. I finally got a more accurate prescription but they changed the cylinder number to no astigmatism (I have an astigmatism) I ended up going somewhere else. read more

I did go in person to deliver the message from my insurance company for someone to call them because no one answers the Visionworks Pompton Plains phone. When I walked in, the person I believe to be the manager looked up at me from the computer. Did not say a word. I nicely explained why I was there. She began calling the insurance company and began to take care of the issue. The issue was resolved. Her one line answer regarding the result was very curt. Never making eye contact. Not pleasant or friendly. I turned around not saying a word. Annoyed for not being treated like anything and left--to which she said, "you're welcome." My thoughts being: why should I act like this manager did me a favor? I'm not local and I had to go there to represent the insurance company and give the them the message to call the insurance company for a refund that they never bothered issuing from more than 3 weeks ago. I was there half an hour plus and not once did the phone ring. They were not busy. This manager needs an attitude adjustment which includes kindness. read more

I showed up 10 minutes late because I got stuck in traffic and was told doctor can not see you. my plan was to take my script to Costco anyway. beyond those problems the staff just doesn't care. there is no customer service they are only there for a paycheck. read more

I am completely floored by the lack of the professionalism at this location. Let me be very clear up front it is not the entire staff and I also understand that sometimes new technology can be challenging, but I think I am a pretty patient person. Here is the timeline. Appointment 9:20 am 10/15. Dr is awesome but the technician, seems to be confused by the pre-screening equipment and tablet. Dr. and associate L need to stop what they are doing and assist her multiple times. I do not really trust the integrity of the prescreening but the eye exam went well so I felt more comfortable. Then it was time to order my new prescription. The same technician, could not operate the tablet interface, and quite frankly could not have cared less and it was obvious. Once again another techn and Dr tried to assist. I was told they couldn't complete the order with my insurance at this time. I said it's ok and that I would go to the supermarket and swing back, which I did. Still didn't work. Technician took my number and said I would receive a call and we could finish the order over the phone. I said that was fine but I didn't want a delay in ordering my new prescription. No call received. Monday 10/17 no call. Tried the store 10am and was told I would receive a call back at 10:30am. No callback or message with an update. No idea what the issue might be? Unable to reach the store the remainder of the day. Left a message with call center. Tuesday 10/18 @11 am Tried the store again and again was told I would receive a call right back. No call no message. Still no idea what the issue is but I confirmed the order was not placed. 4:30pm, after unsuccessfully attempting to contact the store multiple occasions, I physically went to the store in Pompton Plains, NJ and requested my glasses back and stated that I no longer wanted to be a customer there. Same technician retrieved the glasses which were right where I left them 4 days ago, not in the back or on a shelf, and handed them to me without so much of any explanation or apology for my inconvenience. Completely rude and unprofessional. I am so glad I picked them up. I don't feel I trust any of the pre-screening testing. I am also suspect that this technician is doing her due diligence to protect my personal identification information on the system she cannot operate. I feel that this is beyond a disgruntled customer issue. There is no way this is an isolated incident. I would expect to hear from someone at corporate headquarters for something this blatant. This was done on purpose either because of an overworked staff or just plain incompetence but it was definitely intentional. Nothing from the store or Visionworks. read more

Reading other comments from nit so happy customers is surprising me. I have been coming for years and each time I come I have been served well. I tried deviating to other options and always find my way back to this location. The staff has usually been most attentive and not on top of you for a sale. I appreciate their hands off and only engaged when you want them. They are very friendly and nice. The sales have been helpful too because the costs of lenses in most situations are not cheap so the wonderful coupons and offers are wonderful. So it's Saturday pretty busy, I've never been here before. Big selection, the man at the front was rude and didn't put our name on the list so there were so many people who arrived later going before us. When I told him he said well we're backed up anyway so you're going to wait. We had already found two pairs of glasses but if it was up to me, we would of left because of him and his attitude. Thankfully Faith, an employee, came over and assisted in everything. She was so nice, great customer service, and extremely helpful. I would leave negative stars if possible. I have been a customer for years and have never has an issue until saturday. I finished my regular eye exam check up and i had a bad feeling during the pre screening. The technician, Carmen, really didnt seem to know how to operate any of the equipment and definitely didnt know how to use a new billing system Visionworks has implemented. That part is understandable but it not only felt like she didnt understand but she really didnt care. When the exam was over she was unable to order my new prescription. She took my number and said she would call later that day. No call saturday, I called saturday and was told I would recieve a call back at 10:30 am No call. You cant call the store they wont pick up. I left a message with the Visionworks call center and still no call back. I also tried the store again on tuesday and was AGAIN told i would recieve a call back. Nothing. no message, no explanation for the delay I was just ignored. I then had to return to the store to retrieve my glasses since now I have to make an appointment somewhere else. Carmen knew exactly who I was when I walked in and handed me my glasses. You would think an apology for the inconvenience would have been in order. Very disrespectful. I retrieved my glasses and now have to make another appointment somewhere else. I guess my time doesnt matter to Visionworks. I notified my insurance Blue Cross Blue Shield and Davis Vision but I assume they will try to charge me for the visit. read more

Manager of the store is extremely rude and not willing to help you get anything done or finalized. When you call the home office - please they are worse - they don't even try to help you. I wish I could give less than one star. Visionworks in Pompton Plains, NJ is the worst choice you could make for an eye appointment. I have been going to Visionworks for years. I recently moved and tried this location. I waited over 2 hours to see the doctor and I had an appointment. The office staff was rude and unprofessional . While having my initial exam done, the staff were taking personal phone calls. After waiting two hours to see the doctor I still did not get the contact prescription that I needed. I called again to try to get my contact prescription and Carmen R was rude on the phone, blaming me for the mix up. I was told I would have to come back for the contact exam even though I asked for it the first time I was there. I returned for the contact fitting appointment and had to wait again. The doctor was 15 minutes late to work so again even though I had an appointment, I had to wait. 25 minutes later I finally saw the doctor. She asked me if I liked my contacts. I said yes. That was the end of the appointment. I was charged $50 and they still refused to give me my contact prescription. They told me once again I would have to go back. I will never return. read more

I'm reluctant to give this place even 1 star. Customer service is horrible and so are their glasses!! They would not give me the contacts I PAID for after waiting an hour for a contact exam that I had an appointment for!! Never did get the contacts because after 60 days you have to pay for another exam!!! The glasses I bought that weren't supposed to scratch broke and were so scratched I couldn't see through them. When I complained their response was "They're scratch resistant". Please do not go here!!! Waste of money and time!!! read more

Mind you, they called while I was waiting at my appointment and not the week before when I gave them my new insurance information. Complete waste of my time! I am happy to report that I am glad I did not listen to a single negative remark about this place and went there anyway. This place was spectacular! Had 2 appointments...one for me and one for my 11 year old son. We were probably there about 2 hours (not because of wait time but because I had a hard time picking out glasses ) ...the Dr was great with both my son and I. My son had a lot of questions regarding his vision and why we need certain tests and she had the patience of a saint and answered every single one of them. The young lady who helped me pick out my glasses was awesome and so helpful...all in all a GREAT day at Visionworks!! read more

3rd time coming here.. excellent service! A little slow when no one seems to be waiting but I'm ok with it. Kimberly is so helpful with contact lens class, very patient. Dr is very thorough and accommodating. UPDATE: I noticed when I got home that I was charged $10 more than I was informed. I called Vision works to explain and was told to hold on and speak with manager. The "manager " Kathy got on the phone and started to berate me saying "she wouldn't have given them her cars unless she confirmed the price at that moment and what did I want her to do." I informed that she or her staff should have told me of price change due to astigmatism prior then just charging me a different price and not telling me. Kathy was so rude saying that I can't tell her what to do as I'm not the customer, that I informed that by end of day I shall receive a phone call informing of final decision. Why argue with a customer? I told her to that if she said to me " My apologies, how can we resolve this, like an manager would then maybe I would take it as an oversight but that's my choice as a customer, seeing the facility is at fault. This place is terrible. The sales people must make very high commission because they are so pushy and do not care about your interests. I recently got new insurance and was going to go there a second time to see if the first time was a fluke and they told me they didnt take Aetna. But I was told that they would be able to get me my contacts for a cheaper price than last time to make up for the money I was going to spend for the eye exam. When I received a confirmation call a day before the appointment, I asked the person if this was true and he said no, and he had no idea why someone would tell me that. All they want to do is get you into the store to sell you. Wound up going to Pearl Vision on 23 and they were so much better. read more

My husband and I went to Visionworks due to an eye insurance change. We both saw Violeta Trajkovska OD she proceeded to tell my husband that he had possible Glaucoma and referred him to a specialist. In turn causing him to worry. I then had my eye exam with her and she told me the same, She also said I had to go to a Corneal specialist as well. I did not believe her diagnosis of either of us nor my prescription. To get a second opinion we made an appointment with our regular eye doctor. He confirmed that neither one of us had Glaucoma nor did I have a Corneal issue. Also my prescription as well as my husband's were incorrect and done poorly. She is obsessed with Glaucoma and tells every patient they have it! I am disgusted that she has her medical license and she is scaring patients for no reason. The name of this store should be called Glaucomaworks! She is a ridiculous excuse for an eye doctor. Take your eyes somewhere else. The three bright spots are I did like the glasses selection,affordable pricing and the staff was helpful and knowledgeable as well. Particularly Cathy. I would seriously avoid having your eyes examined there. They are not capable of giving a professional exam! read more
