Dr. Seyam is through and comprehensive with the eye exams , however his front desk office staff does not check insurance throughly and does not even want to make a copy of the front and back of insurance. They are very quick to tell patients that they are not in network. Dr Seyam does not realize this but this will cause him to lose clients. I have tried my best to work with the front desk staff and all I get is pushback and negativity. Dear Wayne Eye Care Management, I am very disappointed with the level of customer service I received at your office. I want to bring several concerns to your attention regarding my recent experience. 1. Unprofessional Front Desk Service The front desk staff, particularly Sara and a new employee, were not helpful. The new staff member, despite not being authorized to assist, engaged in unnecessary arguments over the phone. 2. Lack of Communication on Pricing and Brands The doctor who owns this practice seems to be a nice man, but the doctor covering Saturdays needs to clearly communicate brand options and pricing before prescribing expensive products. Attempting to prescribe $1,000 contacts without prior discussion is unacceptable, especially when my daughter didn't even find them comfortable. 3. Misleading Rebate and Pricing Practices Instead of addressing my concerns, Sara handed me a $200 mail-in rebate form and told me I could "get my money back" if I filled it out correctly. This is not how a business should operate. Additionally, when I asked for my daughter's prescription, she oddly suggested I inform her if I found a better price elsewhere. The entire experience felt very shady, as no one provided a clear pricing breakdown. 4. Mishandling of Insurance Benefits I attempted to use my VSP insurance, which works through Eyeconic.com. However, Sara applied my daughter's benefits to the expensive contacts I had already declined. When I refused the overpriced contacts, she told me I would need to return multiple times until we found the right pair--something I've never experienced in over 20 years of wearing contacts. 5. Failure to Provide Alternatives or Inventory Despite coming in for a contact lens trial and training (which cost $195 and wasn't covered by insurance), my daughter left with nothing because they didn't have her prescription in stock. They also made no effort to suggest alternative brands. 6. Excessive and Unexpected Costs I was shocked when I was told to pay $853, with only $130 covered by insurance. This level of pricing without prior discussion is completely unacceptable. 7. Past Issues with Orders Two years ago, Sara forgot to order my son's contacts. A month passed before I realized, and she eventually shipped them through 1-800 Contacts--as if I couldn't have done that myself. The main doctor is rarely around, leaving the staff to operate without proper oversight. They do not seem to care about customer satisfaction or transparency. I received great care at Wayne Eye Care! I discovered the office through a mailed housewarming coupon for a free comprehensive eye exam, and the entire process from start to finish was seamless (scheduling an appointment, no wait time, thorough exam, reasonably priced lenses). Sarah, the optician, was super friendly and bubbly. The office was clean, spacious, and bright. They were also playing an awesome playlist of violin covers the day I was there. Dr. Seyam, the optometrist, was very thorough and knowledgeable during my exam. He answered all my questions and had great rapport with me. The office even provided me with a discount on updated lenses since I don't have vision insurance. If you're looking for a great optometry office in the area, look no further! Be aware of booking an appointment with this doctor. I had scheduled a first time appointment with this doctor through zocdoc. I received an email 45 minutes before my appointment that they cancelled my appointment because they did not have all of my insurance information. When I called she said that they left messages and tried to call me to gather this information. I said what difference does this make when I would have paid for the appointment from my own pocket. I was having some problems with my eyes (discomfort, redness) when I first went to Dr. Seyam. It turned out that I was given the wrong prescription for my contact lens base curve by a previous eye doctor! I will always be grateful to Dr. Seyam for realizing this and correcting my prescription. Also, I recently went to Dr. Seyam when I was experiencing flashes of light in my left eye. He discovered that I had a torn retina and quickly and calmly gave me the news and proceeded to get in touch with the retina specialist so I could get in for emergency surgery. Today was our first visit to Wayne EyeCare. Yes, it is a small office compare to those eye care chains. However, the detail and care for myself and my family was great. Dr. Seyam did not rush us to get more customers. I never liked to be rushed by a Dr. in his /her office. Dr. Sayem spent the time to listen us and answered all the questions we had. An eye doctor's visit to me was equivalent to a dentist visit for a child before I met Dr. Seyam! I actually found Dr. Seyam through Yelp and can assure everyone that all the reviews are all so accurate! I am so happy I found Wayne EyeCare after searching months for a new eye doctor. I became frustrated with my previous doctor and the experience in just 2 visits with Dr. Seyam surpassed any visit I had in the 10 years I was at my previous doctor. It is evident Dr. Seyam is very knowledgable in his field and cares about his patients. When I had an issue with my contacts and needed an emergency follow up, he called me up himself! I never felt any pressure or pushiness with Dr. Seyam (which was my issue with my previous doctor) I actually felt the opposite.
