I work in healthcare and I get dealing with the public, but this is on another level. Did not hear back about my glasses and I was out on speaker phone and someone yelled "I call you a couple weeks ago." No way since it has barely been two weeks since I had my app. No one called me. Visionworks in Green Hills used to provide good service. I came here for years, and I was a satisfied customer. But three years have passed since my last check up and things have taken a DRAMATIC dive downward. A few weeks ago, I came in for a renewal on my contacts, and it was the WORST customer service I can remember -- anywhere, from any venue, for any category of service. I've received far better customer service from a McDonalds drive-thru. The receptionist, who could barely work the check-in computer and who made me feel like I was a big inconvenience just by showing up, mumbled through a mask under his nose, and his words were barely audible. I got the impression he could have been a high school student. I was then shocked to discover that my initial first-phase exam was being conducted by HIM! After that unsettling experience, I was escorted to the main optical exam room. When the optometrist entered the exam room, he didn't even acknowledge my presence and just started typing on the computer. Then, throughout the exam, he acted impatiently when I couldn't read the smallest type: "Can't you read ANYTHING on that line? Not anything?" ...Me: "Not really, I'd just be guessing." ...Him: "Well try again!" I really felt like this man hated his job and disliked people. In terms of the examination, I felt like he was pretty much winging it. I've had countless medical and optical exams throughout my life, and I believe I can sense professional competence or lack thereof. This experience really stood out like a horrible dream. About an hour after receiving my trial pair of contacts, my fears were confirmed: they were absolutely not going to work. But instead of returning to Visionworks (I will NEVER go there again), I searched Yelp and discovered "SEE" with Dr. Shay Thewes on 21st Avenue. I decided on Dr. Shay simply by her stellar Yelp reviews. Wow! At SEE I experienced amazing customer service: friendly, and professional! Then it got even better with the exam: Dr. Shay was relational, communicative, intuitive, efficient, and she really CARES about her customers! In addition, she has the most high-tech optometrist equipment I've ever seen. What a dramatic difference!! ---- FOLLOW UP: Moments ago, I put in the trial contacts that Dr. Shay had special ordered for me. I'M STUNNED! I don't remember seeing this clearly from any contact lens Rx I ever received from VisionWorks over many years! She explained that they had misdiagnosed my astigmatism completely, even in the earlier years when I thought I was getting a good Rx. By contrast, NOW I can really SEE! (No pun intended.) If Visionworks Corporate really cares about the problematic customer service at this venue, I have a simple suggestion that may help. Have a corporate executive arrive at this location incognito and take an optical exam. Then, have the same exec experience an exam at SEE with Dr. Shay for a comparison. That exec can take notes and write up a detailed report on the dramatic difference between the two venues. With that kind of hard line analysis -- if it's honest -- Visionworks will have a crystal clear VISION of exactly how they should improve their service in order to ascend to the benchmark of excellence their best competition is providing. read more

I have had the WORST experience with this location. I don't know how this kind of service flies in green hills! I will NEVER use a chain/franchise optometrist again. It took FIVE MONTHS To get my glasses and then they were incorrect. It took multiple calls and emails to the customer service department to get someone from the store to call me back about my issue with glasses. No one ever called me to tell me my glasses were ready. When I called to see what the hold up was they seemed weirded out that no one had called me (I was not- at this point it seems that's how they do things at VisionWorks!) when I picked them up no one tried to fit me or adjust my frames or anything. Now that the trust that they can handle anything is completely broken I try to order online and no one can get through to confirm my prescription. I've been reusing daily contacts because my glasses are wrong and I'm out of contacts. It's been a NIGHTMARE. I went to try and straighten the situation out in person and a sign on the door said they were unexpectedly closing at 5:30 (it was 2:45) and the woman who answered the door was rude and completely unhelpful. Monique perhaps was her name? Tosha the manager I want to believe knows their stuff but the overall experience has just been THE WORST THING I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED in a business transaction. He was very patient and assisted me in finding a new pair of glasses. I truly appreciated this because other places I've visited I felt rushed. However, this was not the case with him. Never ordering contacts or glasses from here again! Ordered contacts in July. It's November and still haven't gotten them. I've called multiple times and even gone to the location to try and see what's going on. First they told me they were on back order. Gave me a pair of trial lenses that weren't the right prescription but said "they shouldn't irritate my eyes too much and should hold me over". Months go by and now they tell me the shipment got lost so they're ordering them again. I call 2 weeks later and they're still nowhere to be found. Now they're ordering them again for a third time, this time to be shipped to my house. Don't order through them unless you want to wait 4 months for an order of contacts! My prescription has probably changed by now it's taken so long! read more

All I needed was a renewed contact prescription. I told them upfront that I was allergic to the majority of lenses, and they allowed me to sit through the ridiculously slow exam just to tell me that they didn't have any of the brand of lenses I needed in stock. I would have to order SAMPLES of my contacts I've worn for SIX YEARS in order to renew my prescription. They wasted an hour and a half of my time when both the doctor and the tech had the opportunity to tell me they didn't have my brand of lenses in store. Furthermore the Dr. was not transparent about my prescription changing, he would not look at my old prescription nor hear my concerns about a new one. I had an eye exam at this Visionworks before. This time I was not pleased with the visit. The exam by the doctor was exactly 3 minutes. He stated that my vision had not changed. I was surprised because I could tell there were changes. I got to the young man who took my insurance information. He was nice but did not seem to know much about how my insurance worked. He stated that my progressive lens as I requested would cost 750.00 plus. I also wanted sunglasses. I chose new frames. He told me that it would cost me 450.00 plus. I thought, something is wrong here. I ended up getting my glasses for 149.00. But stated that the sunglasses would still cost me 450.00 and that I would have to pay that day. I think there needs to a more knowledgeable person handling the insurance. I left confused. Last year I left only paying 200.00 for two pair of glasses. There is a considerable change in the store and staff. I also noticed that the glasses that are displayed were dirty, lots of smudges. Please check this store, A reprimand is needed. I came in Visionworks last Friday with my grandmother for an appointment we had scheduled. I worked with a woman named Christina and she was very pleasant and extremely helpful. She, alone, is the only reason I left 2 stars instead of 1 star. Cody, however is the reason for this bad review. He was very annoyed, short, and nonchalant whenever Ms. Christina would ask him for help. Seeing this from the outside disturbed me and made me uncomfortable because it was very noticeable the interaction he would have with others versus with her. Being a manager that is unprofessional behavior and I told the woman I was dealing with that I would not be back because of the way I saw employees being treated and that she should also seek employment elsewhere with employers who value their employees during such a difficult time but also treat her with equality and respect. The eye doctor was nice and one front counter girl was nice....however...I tried to walk in for an appointment, was told they don't actually have a doctor here. That's fine, I made an appointment for the following week. I received a confirmation text and everything and showed up on time (which required me staying late at work because there wasn't enough time to get home and then here in traffic). As I arrive, they are locking the doors because the doctor went home. They thought they had called the appointments, But they unfortunately had not called me because they had gotten a new computer system and they did not know I had an appointment. I rescheduled for a few days later, I was finally able to be seen an hour and a half after my appointment time. Again, the doctor was great - no issues there. They sent me home with prescriptions which I then lost like a big dummy. I tried calling the store to get new copies - was only able to reach 'Amelia' the automated service. I received a call back from a human 48 hours later stating I could go to the store and get a new prescription. I went to the store, and was not able to get a new prescription because there is no doctor here today and because of the new system, they can't figure out how to print them with signatures. I'll be driving in rush hour traffic again in a few days to do it all over again. Wouldn't recommend coming here - not a fault of the staff, but the general system of Visionworks is not good for patients. read more

Had great customer service here. Prompt appointment & assistance with ordering glasses. All staff were very helpful & friendly. Had to exchange first pair of glasses and did so without any problem. When I damaged my second pair they were more than helpful in ordering new glasses and checking to see if they were under warranty-which they were! Something I hadn't thought to check. Hi, I am being reminded of this bad experience every time I receive a promotion from you. I have purchased a prescription medical classes your store using my vision insurance benefits ($200) plus paid out of pocket (around $100). Only to receive a subclass glasses lenses that I had issued with right away and was told to give it a week till i get used to it but that did not happen. When I finally could not bear it, I returned to the store and there after further discussion, I was told there is no issue with the glasses lenses it is just because you opted out not to have some features on the premium end and if you want the issues you are having resolved you need to pay more to upgraded the glasses lenses. Thankfully i did not listen. later, A friend referred me to Costco vision center. There I was able to get glasses lenses for about $45, total price. The quality was astonishing in comparison to what I got from your store. It as well cost me way less than what I paid in your store. Note that both Costco and your store used the same prescription given to me by Visionworks. In addition, glasses lenses were made and installed on the same frame I got from Visionworks. Given that both used the same prescription and installed lenses on the same glasses frame and considering the quality price ratio, which is way out unbelievable one can rightly call what Visionworks done is a rip off and a con. It is amazing how this business is still running given all of this crap. I am still feeling bitter about this experience more than a year later. read more

I experienced the worst customer service ever from the store manager Tosha, I called to let her know that the order I received was incorrect and 2 other locations informed me that they can get me the high index glasses, she puts the phone down while talking to another employee telling him "I won't listen to this" I then asked her to give me a refund and I will take my order to one of the other locations for my order to be processed and she replied by "I will make sure to call the insurance company to deny your claim" I asked her why are you doing this? Then, She hung up the call on me. This incident happened on 9/27 at 5:30pm. The corporate office is currently aware and the Regional Director, Michael Roberts should be investigating the issue. And today, once someone did finally pick up, I was on hold after that point for over 15 minutes. I have memorized their hold music at this point. I can "see" two things clearly here: 1, they need to provide a way to order refills online. And 2, it is necessary at this point that I find a new eye doctor. read more

They ordered trials for me, which I came and tried, liked them, and then decided to go ahead and buy a box of contacts. Two weeks later I get a call saying they ordered a new set of trials?! I called to try to make sense of it, and explain the situation that I've already done the trial period, only to be talked over and told to "not stress about it". They clearly don't know what they're doing and don't mind wasting your time, not to mention talk down to you as if it's your issue. The staff and front desk crew were friendly but Dr. John DeHarde was as cruel as it gets. He was cold and unfriendly and kept everything blurry and me struggling to see the vision board, blaming the machine. Then he said I was lying and memorizing the letters and I WOULD NEVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT! I have been to the eye doctor at least 40 times in my life and I have never had an experience like the one I had with Dr. DeHarde. He was cruel on purpose, and I had told him I get ocular migraines and was experiencing a slight one and he truly made it worse. It looked like the lenses I was looking through were smudged, and I told him so, and he made no attempt to check. I've had extreme near-sightedness since I was in 3rd grade and do not take this lightly, and have many experiences to compare it to, and that is why I will absolutely be reporting him to the BBB. My son is a long-term patient there. He tore one of his last 2 contact lenses, meaning he couldn't play sports without a replacement lens. It had been one year and 2 days since his last appointment at this location. The receptionist refused (I called twice) to ask a provider if he could have daily lenses until his appointment a few days later. I write prescriptions frequently for patients who need a few days of meds before their appointment...this is absurd, especially considering that the receptionist made the medical decisions. Also, online, I could have booked an appointment with them the same day. She said we couldn't come in until the next week. I found a place in the mall with better service who helped us out the same day. I have since asked a few other optometrists their opinion-all agreed that providing a few daily lenses would be customary in this situation. read more

Although I had an appointment at 12:30pm, it's now nearly 3pm and I'm still here. I ordered contacts from here 4 weeks ago. I never got a call saying they were ready, so I called them. I called on and off for an hour until someone finally answered. The woman was short and rude and said she couldn't find my contacts. First of all, WHY can they not ship the contacts to my home??? I then drove to the store and went inside. They were wearing masks and gloves, so that was good. I waited 5-10 minutes for someone to even help me. It appeared that 2 people were working in the store. There were 2 or 3 other people waiting to be helped. The phone was ringing the whole time, and no one was answering it. I then waited another 10 minutes while another woman looked for my contacts. This is my second time visiting this location, and it has gone absolutely down hill since Andy left. The only positive thing I have to say about this location is how sweet the actual optometrist was. This was my first time ever getting contacts, and I was treated like I wasn't "listening" and that my husband was making me "distracted". I was also told that I was too "excited" in that moment, and I reiterated that I was nervous, not excited about anything. I'm a grown woman, and I don't need someone to try to tell me how I feel. She made me continually touch my eye when it wasn't needed to the point of extreme redness, and proceeded to tell me there was a certain way I HAD to put in my contacts. They couldn't even find my patient folder because it was so unorganized. One lady, (I think named Charlotte) continually talked about how it was time for her break and how inconvenienced she was. Everyone from our sales consultant, Karen, and the manager, Jeff, gave us excellent service and went above and beyond to make our experience a good one. Ultimately, we changed our minds based on finding a better price elsewhere, and they cancelled our order and handled our refund professionally and courteously. I would give them five stars based on their high level of customer service but gave them four because we did find their prices to be higher than another optician who accepted our insurance. When following up, they do not look at your patient record when calling or asking questions. I constantly had to explain my situation. Made appointment over the summer for an eye exam and literally waited TWO hours to be seen. Exam went ok, and we got the contacts. Now in February my son has picked out some frames from a store online, and we just need this location to release his prescription so the other company can make the glasses I have already paid for. THE STAFF AT THIS STORE DOES NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. The store is open according to their website, but when I have called a few times a day on different days for a week, letting the phone ring for 15-20 minutes at a time, no one answers. Called the 800#, and no answer there, either. Tomorrow I am off work and am going to go there in person and ask what the hell and get them to call this company in front of me so I know it gets done. I will not waste my time on Visionworks again. America's Best was 100% better. Couldn't get an appointment with them due to COVID, but next time we'll be patient. read more

I had an appointment this morning and will not be returning. The manager on duty (Andy) was extremely pushy with me from the second I walked in the door, trying to get me to purchase a pair of frames - i wear contacts every day - only wear glasses (which I already have) at night at home and I explained this to him. His response was snarky and rude and - what if I had allergies? What if my eyes got itchy? Why wouldn't you just buy another pair? It's a no brainer? The doctor I saw was pleasant and fine. When I walked back out into the front of the office to place my order for contacts, it took the woman and the same pushy manger over a half an hour to figure out how many boxes I needed. A one year supply, two eyes, 90 contacts in each pack. Simple math ?? I was then told if I switched to the Visionworks version of my daily contacts, it would be $42 a box instead of the $76 for the brand name. I said sure, why not. Ten minutes go by and I'm then told, JUST KIDDING! Actually only $6 cheaper than the brand name. Look at that! Would absolutely not recommend - terrible customer service, pushy salespeople and awful experience. This turned into a miserable hour and a half ordeal. read more

Each time, the phone operator was condescending in her tone and told me she would call ME when they came in. I called yesterday and was told by a gentleman that the boxes had come in and they would go through them. I got no call, so I called again today and a woman told me they hadn't gone through the boxes yet and wouldn't be until someone else came in to help her. Why would you even tell your customer that?
