The docter was very good. As for the rest im very disappointed. When I ordered my glasses, they sent it out wrong, then argued with me that I was wrong. When I said I would never come back, they called me and said they made a mistake and will send out the correct order. Well a good manager would've put a rush on it, instead its been 2 weeks and I've heard nothing. When I went it to ask if they were ready, one of the ladies said she would call the manager who was in another store at the time, and she would call me. That never happened, and im still waiting for my glasses. This is really bad for someone who has only been their 2xs and I really dont think ill return. Do better with your customers! read more

I posted over almost a year ago regarding the awful customer service at the Crystal Lake Visionworks. I reached out to them via email and never heard back. Yesterday I went to my eye doctor as I was having headaches when I wear my glasses. I found out the lenses were marked incorrectly, the frames did not fit properly after monthly visits to the CL Visionworks. They seem to have a huge turnover, employees could care less if they solve your issues with your glasses. I would definitely think twice before purchasing glasses from this location. read more

I dreaded calling this store because of the person that was behind the desk. The people that are there now are AMAZING!! I moved to Colorado and came back into town for work. The Spring Grove post office decided that my contacts were addressed to "unknown" with the correct address. They'll deliver to a dogs name but not a real person......anyway, I was running out of contacts. This store went above and beyond to get me a few pairs to last me until my second order could be shipped. Terrible! I've used them before, but even back then it was getting irritating. Last time in the girl lied to me about tinted lenses and wouldn't let me show her that she was telling me was a lie. Forward to today.... I went online to set an appointment for an eye exam. There are two documents (about 20 pages of terms) that you have to approve of if you want to use the site to make an appointment. I don't have time to read that ?*&$. So, I tried to call the store to make an appointment. The system will not allow me to talk to someone to make the appointment. The website shows three appointments available yet today, and more on Monday and Tuesday. Since the store is only 10 minutes from my home, I drove over to set the appointment, in person. I found a sign in the window saying that the store will be closed for 2 hours. It was. I returned after the two hours to find only one staffer there, only she was the one who was happy to lie to me the last time I was buying glasses. I asked for an appointment for today, as the website showed three appointments available. She reported that the doctor is on vacation. Being a lot vexed, I asked to talk to the manager. She said she was the manager. I said I want to report the problem with the website, the phone, the unscheduled store closed hours and the incorrect information about appointments being available. I asked who her manager was, and asked how I could reach that person. She replied that her only contact is by email. She told me there was no name or number I could call. She said I could contact customer service. While there, I did set up an appointment with Dr. Ahmed, for an exam on another date. He is great, very attentive, friendly and thorough. Upon returning home I called Visionworks "Customer Service". I was greeted by a computer voice that tried to sound like a human, which only presented a sales pitch on a free medical ID item. The presentation wouldn't stop and after a minute I hung up. Summary; screwed up website, phone system, store manager and home office customer service. The company doesn't realize what's going on, or doesn't care about customer. They don't deserve my or your business. I will take my prescription from Dr. Ahmad to another store. read more

What is this absolute psychopathy of demanding customers wear masks entering the building? They did not inform us when making the appointment 2 days ago that this was an expectation. We never would have booked if we had been told. Customers should refuse to comply with demands which are not backed up by scientific data. Mandates have been gone for 5 months in Illinois already. There is too much market competition to have to deal with this. We bought the insurance for glasses. When we needed to use the insurance to repair/replace damaged glasses, we were told we could only use it once. Go to pick up replacement and find out we could keep the damaged pair. NEVER AGAIN. read more

The location in Mchenry is excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable. I did not feel pressured to buy more then I wanted with my eye glasses. The exam was easy and comfortable. There was an error with one of my glasses, not a problem getting new ones. read more

Had an appointment at 10:40 am. I was late, I entered the store at 10:45. Was greeted at the front, and told them of my appointment for my daughter. The guy looked confused as he was looking at something behind the counter, presumably a schedule. I suspect they never actually scheduled me. He said "are you here for an eye exam?" I said "no we're just picking out frames, we already have the prescription." He said "oh well since your appointment was at 10:40 and it's 10:46, I'll have to reschedule you for another day." Absolute disgusting customer service, zero customers in the store, and they still wouldn't see me. I'd say he was just a piece of shit, but two other employees were standing within ear shot and didn't correct his obvious deficiency. read more

Went first to the Pompano FL store and not too impressed; however, the IL store is still Marxist led requiring a non-functioning mask when Covid is over. I will not do business with those who do not care for my health as I'm unable to wear a mask and there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. The gentleman at the desk, had no desire to actually do any work. He informed me that since I purchased from a vision works company Location which had not yet updated their software, he could not prove that I was a customer. My work just offered new benefits and I was on the fence about getting the insurance. Sooooo glad I did. This company goes way beyond expectations. I worked for LensCrafters company in my late twenties and I thought I knew retail extensively by then. The professionalism, knowledge and huge range of frames could only be exceeded by Dr Catherine's experience and care during the testing. This is no friend or employee writing this review. After reading some of the reviews I'd tend to agree with several of them. The front area is indeed loud with the staff conducting business and preliminary assessments. Some of that may be better suited to a more private area. The exams were professionally done and used more updated techniques than other local places. Seemed like a nice selection of frames etc. Just need to dial down the front staff a tad. read more

When my grandson (who is VERY farsighted) broke his glasses we were told by another Visionworks location that he would receive the new pair we ordered in 7-10 business days. In a panic, we called this McHenry, IL Vision Works location and they said to stop by to see if they could help us do a temporary fix on the broken ones. They even knew we didn't buy the new pair at their location. Colleen, the manager, was able to take an old pair plus the broken ones and make him a workable pair of glasses until the ones we ordered came in! Whew! A big Thank You to Colleen and her staff for saving a lot of misery for our little man! You guys really came through for us! read more

What an awful experience! Do yourself a favor and go pretty much anywhere else! The staff was rude. Glasses were overpriced. They wouldn't even stand behind the prescription they wrote which was incorrect! I'll be contacting their corporate office! If I could give it zero stars, I would! The office staff is very friendly, they listen to your concerns and questions, are helpful and are extremely easy to work with. 5 stars to them! The woman optometrist is absolutely HORRIBLE! Doesn't listen and gives the impression that she doesn't care. I would purchase contacts, eyeglasses, etc... from Visionworks again, but would NEVER EVER get an exam from this woman EVER again. I purchased some Ray Bans from the Mchenry store. The nose piece has come off 2 times now. I was told to go to Pearl VisioN to get a new one but when I went there they didn't have it either. If I can give zero star I would for this place. Go to Vision works Crystal Lake instead cuz they are more professional and is on top of everything . The staff here in McHenry needs to learn customer service etiquette 101. First may I suggest to your McHenry staff , don't yell from across the room talking to a customer especially if they are voicing concerns. Second, I went here last summer and they said my insurance doesn't cover glasses and contacts on the same year and I know that my insurance does because I specifically signed up for a higher level insurance just to get this benefit. So I went to Crystal Lake and they helped me get my glasses USING the same insurance I have. The staff here in McHenry are like teenagers who don't know what their doing. They don't check your benefits correctly and they tell you different things on the phone that they do in person . It's very disorganized here. After having a terrible experience with my elderly mother at the other Vision store in McHenry, .........we decided to go to Visionworks and they greeted us very nicely and too very good care of my mother right away. She hadn't been to the eye doctor in a while and had a lot of issues with her eye. The optometrist took the time to explain to me the steps we needed to take to have her vision corrected. All 3 employees were beyond amazing! Stephanie really went above and beyond. She was very attentive to my mother and I REALLY appreciated that. She cleaned her glasses, sat her down with a mirror, picked frames, etc.. yes that's her job but she helped her for an hour and a half. Thank you all!! read more

My daughter is only two years old and we found out that she needed glasses in August. Since then we have bought four pairs of glasses at Visionworks. Being that she's so young, it has been a bit of a struggle to fit her appropriately for glasses and keep her from breaking them. Everyone we have worked with in fitting her and replacing her broken pairs has been extremely helpful, patient and kind. The prices are reasonable and the staff is wonderful. We will continue to purchase her glasses here in the future! read more
