This place is predatory about you buying from them! I took my daughter for an updated prescription;…read moreshe has a very high prescription, so getting her contacts, I know exactly what ones come right enough for her. The exam was fine, but when I asked for the script, I was super pressured into buying from them. When I went to fill her prescription they gave the company the run around about verifying the prescription. Then, when I called, I couldn't because it's a HIPPA violation; seriously, it's as simple as me filling out a release form, but of course, they would not get that fax ever. The online company tried for DAYS!!!!! Then, when I went somewhere in person I found out what the issue was. The prescription omitted the extra strength needed for my daughter's one eye. I called them, and surprised, surprise, they told me the doctor wouldn't be in until Saturday; keep in mind this was Thursday. So you are open on Fridays but have no doctor all day?!?!?! sure, that makes sense... The office lady was beyond rude, telling me that there was nothing wrong with the script; a simple check of contact strengths tells you that, yes, what they wrote for one eye wasn't going to work. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!

Not even sure if this place deserves 1 star. I would have been a new customer (not anymore), I…read morescheduled an appointment and played phone tag with the receptionist. I explained to her that I have a temporary insurance card with all of the information that they needed to know and she didn't even want to hear about. I talked to my HR representative with more information to tell them. I tried to call them back MULTIPLE times with them not answering the phone. They are more worried about billing about services that they don't even know what services they need to perform yet. You all need to work on your customer service more!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! First thing it says on the door when you walk in... "Eye Exams NO…read moreAppointment Needed". So I go in, and I need to set an appointment. Thought maybe it was just a fluke the doctor wasn't in. Then my appointment rolls around, and me and my wife go in. The doctor was a russion lady with a very deep accent, and while she was very nice, she didn't seem confident at all, and she was flipping the lenses on the test way to fast for my eyes to get focused. When we got done she gave me 2 different contact perscriptions to try out, one was my old perscription, and one was a new one. she said let her know which was better...??? Next, me and my wife go out, and there is an old philipino lady, she seemed nice at the time, but when I was trying to pick out frames I liked, she kept following me around trying to pick frames for me, and then she tried selling me every coating they have, telling me i'm almost blind (-4.75 contac perscription), and everytime I said I didn't want something, she pushed me into it, telling me I needed it. Then she had some papers for me to sign, and she told me "AND" my wife, before we gave her our debit card, that we had 30 day's to return the glasses.... Well, the lenses I picked out said $300, but she said with the 40% discount it came out to $179, well the next day I looked up the frames online, and on EVERY site I looked, that same pair went for $179 without a discount. Same thing with the lens coatings, all the lens coatings were half what they were in the store. I was upset at that, but I needed a pair of glasses, and I thought it's a store, they have to make there money somehow. I really wanted a new pair of glasses, because I work 60 hours a week, and my eyes dry out at work, so I wanted them as soon as possible. Anyways, the lady really was pushy, and when I said I didn't need all the coatings, she just kept explaining to me why I needed them, in different ways like I didn't understand, until I said ok. So, one night me and my wife were shopping at meijers, and we check out, and on the way out my wife see's the philipino lady in the store, and they are closed, but my wife askes if we can pick up the glasses. She let us pick them up, and I put them on, and they were horrible, it was literally like looking through fishbowls. My depth perception was off, everything was curved, and everything had a yellow glow on one side, and a bluish glow on the other side. Immediately I told the lady, well she just grabbed them, and bent them, and asked if I could read some letters, I told her I could read them, but only if I looked perfectly straight. Well, she told me just to wear them and i'd get used to them. Well, I did, and 3 days later, after multiple headaches, and nausea, I decided to take them back. So I get there with my wife, and I told her about the glasses, and she told me I'd need to set an appointment with the doctor again (again, the door says EYE EXAMS, NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED), so I told her, I don't have time to keep going back there every week, and I need glasses now, and I asked for a full refund. The lady said she can only give 50% refund, And I told her, "no, you told me I had 30 days to bring them back", and argued with me saying they could fix it if I set an appointment. I said I don't have time, I work 60 hours a week, just moved, and don't have time. I told her I just want to go to lenscrafters and get the glasses in an hour and be done with it. She said, she worked at lenscrafters, and she said because of the antiglare coating I "NEEDED" that I won't get them in an hour. I told her I don't care about the coating, I just want my money back, so I asked to speak to a manager. She ended up calling the manager, and she talked on the phone for 10 minutes with her before I could even speak, then when I finally did speak to her, the manager was rude, and told me that I recieved a piece of paper with the ruturn policy on it... (she wasn't even there, any time I was there), I told her, I didn't get a paper, the philipino lady said I had 30 days to bring them back, and that was it, never said anything about 50%, and she asked me If I understood, and sign here and here, and that was it... So she got back on the phone with the philipino lady and talked to her, finally I thought I was getting a refund. NOPE.. Lady said I don't get a refund. Well, I got pissed, told my wife just get the 50% and I stormed out. I waited for my wife for like 20 minutes, expecting her to come walk out after me, but she never did. So I ended up going back in there, and heard my wife and the lady and another older guy arguing, turns out the guy is the workers husband, and he doesn't even work there (!?!?!), I told my wife, grab the glasses, lets get out of here, i'll right a review online, and tomorrow i'm gonna call every monager until I get to the top. My wife said the husband said the wife told us about the 50%, BUT, he wasn't even there when we ordered the glasses. LIARS!!!!

I had to spell my last name 4 time (using A as in apple, B as in Boy). 4 times! We finally agreed on a time, and when I went to the vision center, they wanted to me sign the paper stating that I received the privacy act from them, but I hadn't received anything, and no one knew where a copy of it was, so I didn't sign. The exam room was dirty and made me uncomfortable. The exam machines were old, and the one she told me to put my forehead against, and the plastic cover was broke off, so the screw was sticking out, and I was supposed to put my forehead on that?! I had a discount through my insurance, but it is a good thing that I brought the paperwork with me, showing what the discount was supposed to be, otherwise I would not have received the disount. They ordered me a pair of trial lenses, which didn't come in for about a month. I had to call and try to explain to the lady who could barely speak english what I needed when I hadn't heard from them, and it was a pain to try to figure out where the trial lenses were. Some of the staff was writing down people's credit card numbers on sticky notes, to run their payments later! What happened if that sticky note stuck to something it wasn't supposed to and walked out the door??!!The doctor that I saw was friendly and helpful, but because of the rest of my experience, I am not comfortable that she knew what she was doing. Thank goodness I only have to visit the eye dr. once a year, and I will surely NOT be returning to Meijer Vision center, even for a discount.

Doctor Bert, as we call him, has been my eye doctor for years. Yes he is chatty, but I love that…read moreas I am not the most outgoing person especially when it comes to doctors. I need this chatty-ness so that I am completely comfortable explaining what is going on with my vision. I don't like being reprimand even mildly by anyone. I fell totally comfortable with Dr. Bert. Once I had to explain how I was using three different sets of glasses to get through the day with my vision--I thought I would hear, "That's crazy why didn't you come in sooner...." But he simply said, "Let's see what's going on." It was actually easily explained by Dr. Bert. I don't have to wait every time, but when I do I don't mind it at all because I know he is being thorough with the patient in front of me. I have doctors that I feel don't really listen or don't take the time to get to the bottom of things. Because of insurance there are times when I have to see other eye specialist and Dr. Bert will ask what is going on and who the others are. He calmed my nerves and basically told me the others were good doctors and I would be in good hands. His office staff is awesome. When I needed to get in right away (once in an emergency) they contacted other patients to see if they were willing to switch. In the emergency the response was, "..we will wait for you to get here." Also true, they don't have the biggest selection of frames, but the ladies are great with this. They find fashionable glasses that will work with my picky taste and vision needs. They have even order frames for me to look at and try in the shop to see if they met my needs. It is odd trying to see how you will look in a new frame when you can't see. I basically have to rely on the ladies to help me out. I have never been unhappy with my frames. Good thing because I have to use them every day--ha I have even been know to sleep in them. Thanks Dr. Bert, Cathy, and Carrie

I've seen Dr. Irslinger for years. He is incredibly friendly and a great eye doc…read more The two women who work at the reception desk are both so nice! And they've taken the time to get to my name and where I go to school, so it's a bit of personal touch that every time I go in, they ask how my family is and when I go back to classes. The office itself looks a bit outdated. I'm not sure if this really matters to me though. It's actually kind of cool - all of their posters and advertisements are from 2000 or earlier, it seems. Kind of a '90s vintage feel. Dr. Irslinger is so chatty. It's great to be able to talk to him, but this means that your appointment will always be at least 30 minutes late, so plan for that! I always try to get the first appointment of the day at 9:00am to avoid this, but he's usually late getting to work too. He's really intelligent, and we have a lot to talk about, because he also went to school "out East." Their frame selection is pretty poor. I'd guess that they only have about 150 total to choose from. I haven't had a problem selecting frames from there in the past, because they do carry a lot of nice brands (Izod, Versace, etc.). This is actually the first year that I've gotten frames from an external source (Warby Parker!). I thought they would give me a hard time for not buying frames from them, but they were actually great about it. They had no problem just giving me all the prescription info I needed, and even thought that Warby Parker was a really cool concept. I definitely recommend trying them out for your eye doc needs.
