Has much as I wanted to give it 5 stars because one of the eye glass gals is absolutely awesome, I cannot because their boss did not think the pair of eyeglasses I wanted to buy would be best even though the lens shape ( width ect) are exact same as I have now. The frames were exactly what I have been looking for. I am thankful they have a 100 day guarantee, because I am more than certain I am going to go get the ones I previously wanted. But otherwise they have awesome service. Because either way they did get a sale , but is the customer not always right? read more

wow so I just called to get a prescription emailed to me because I found a rad pair of ray ban smart glasses this lady acted like I was a criminal for asking for aan expired prescription. Dude, I don't work in an eye center. My glasses seem fine I just wanted a niftier pair. She tried to make me feel dumb by belittling me. Does not happen, I am chill but will and wanted to state if I need a new prescription for shades. I definitely will not be going back, lost business over being rude.. Shame on you Gina! read more

Booked appointment online, arrived at the set time to find out it must of "fell off" the schedule. I couldn't be seen someone else booked at the spot. Schedule another appointment only to be called 2.5 hours prior to the appointment that doctor was not in and need to reschedule. Next appointment is in a month or I could go another of their locations. Needless to say I will not be going to Visionworks. read more

I initially had my exam and bought glasses at the Lombard Illinois location, and knew about the no questions asked policy. YES, THERE ARE QUESTIONS!!! YES, I believe that they have a right to ask SOME questions, but.it was difficult to get glasses replaced beluga one of the coatings was defective. It was like looking through dirty glasses. HOWEVER.... THE KENOSHA STORE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE HELPFUL!! THEY WORKED WITH ME TO ADJUST, AND ULTIMATELY EXCHANGE MY GLASSES. SO KIND AND HELPFUL; I AM VERY PLEASED. I don't think I have ever left a negative review but I'm in disbelief about my experience at Visionworks Kenosha. Do NOT bring your children here, especially if they are anxious and/or nervous about the eye doctor. Brought my 8 y/o here for his annual checkup. The front desk/administration staff was incredible, patient and so helpful with everything. The eye doctor was the complete opposite. Rude, impatient, standoffish- I truly cannot name one positive thing about our experience with her. My son asked her questions about what we were doing throughout the appt, and she simply would not answer him, Just continued on with what she was doing, going through the motions and flat out refusing to answer him. Completely dismissive. At the end of the appointment, I asked if she normally works with children/if she would prefer we went somewhere else. I said she seemed very frazzled and stressed throughout the entire appointment. She said, "yes, I was", and then walked out of the room. I asked her why she wouldn't answer any of my son's questions and she refused to answer ME. I understand that it can be stressful working with kiddos, especially ones who are nervous, but my son did nothing that would warrant that kind of treatment. Nicole Bloomquist is the only doctor at this location and if she is uncomfortable working with children, that should be disclosed to parents before the appointment. read more

According to 'Ann' they do not have email capabilities to send their customers their prescription. Either you to have visit the shop or wait for it to come via post mail. Seriously? How can you honestly say you dont have email capabilities! Do they assume people are dumb? For this inconvenience alone, I would NOT recommend them. Very sad! Also, I was told that ordering through 1-800 Contacts is more expensive than ordering through Visionworks! NOT TRUE! I always use 1-800 Contacts and they have not charged me for shipping. I find it disheartening that they would try to trick their clients to using them for even simple things like ordering prescriptions. Why cheat/lie when it is super easy to verify such claims? Unbelievable! The doctor I saw was super! She was very kind and patient. And in general the staff are friendly and polite. But for crying out loud, you have to change this stupid policy if you want customers make repeat purchases! read more

Sat and waited for lenses to be fixed. Took over an hour, they were not in any hurry. They were chatting amongst themselves and made me feel like last priority. Obsevered multiple people walk in and stand waiting to be greeted( which never happend) the customers eventually interrupted them stating they were here to pick up glasses and was told to take a seat. Very cold. Not polite . Would not recommend this place. read more

They try hard, but they just can't seem to get it right. Visionworks accepts my insurance so my family has had several visits here over the past few years. The service is fairly slow - it is important to schedule plenty of time for your appointment and pick up. The people are friendly though and do try to provide a good service. The reason for the poor review is that 3 appointments, over different years, with different doctors all had the same result; the prescription was wrong and we had to start the process from the beginning. A 100% failure rate with multiple opportunities is just inexcusable. Everyone in our family has worn glasses for many, many years and never once had a problem with any other provider - ever. My advice is go somewhere else. read more

Charged for services that were never performed. Questioned this and told it was from services performed 3 years ago. So in 2018 they charge me without explaining the charge until I question it. Never a call; an invoice...nothing. Not familiar at all with your coverage so be aware of your co pays and plan details. Even if they had it "pre authorized". Buyer beware! An employee here told they can't change out the lenses in my semi-rimless frames because their lab "can't trace it". I told her the existing lenses were put into these frames a year ago at this very same location. She said something had changed and they can no longer do it. I think she said this because she wanted to sell me new frames. I left. I later asked the Gurnee Visionworks location about this. They said I received incorrect info and any Visionworks should be able to replace the lenses for me because they trace the existing lenses (not the frame). read more

I just want to let you know that if your insurance does not cover the eye photos that's what they do here instead of dilating the eyes. So most insurances won't cover the pictures of the eye you pay out of pocket and they do NOT tell you this up front. Before I could refuse they did that for my child and I got stuck paying $20 more than our copay. Maybe $20 is not a lot for some people but being stuck paying for something you aren't anticipating paying for or getting a say in is absolutely ridiculous and unfair. We were told they said that in the email they sent for registration forms and let me tell you there is no fine print and it is not in there. I don't feel they are straightforward and up front about their costs... there are hidden costs here. I would recommend going elsewhere unless you want to pay money you should not have to. read more

Im changing eye doctors right away. The customer service was awful. Took forvever to get out of there. Also the female doctor with short hair wasnt friendly even insulted my 10 year old saying "why cant you read that..do you know your letters?" Such a horrible experience. I honestly have no complaints for this visionworks. You'll find this location near a little shopping center that has hobby lobby, bed, bath and beyond, dollar store and more. Lots of parking and calling ahead for an appointment is recommended but they take walk ins too. It's close by my home, the people are friendly and the doctor genuinely cared about my eyesight. They said I needed to see a specialist and gave me a contact brand that fits very nice! My eyesight has never been better and it's because all this time i had astigmatism and none of my previous optometrists knew! The sales person knew I was on a budget and helped me find frames that would best fit my head shape and keep it within a good price, I appreciate it! Just a heads up, if you use glasses all the time, you should look into getting non-glare lenses, they are very expensive but they really help when you drive at night or when there is a lot of glare on the road. Thanks so much visionworks for helping my eyes be the best they can be! Honestly haven't seen this clear for such a long long time! read more

I've been here a few times and refuse to ever go back because every time I've gone back, it's been nothing but issues. The first time I was ever there, everyone was so incredibly rude to me and brushed me off when I had questions, even the doctor. I usually let things roll off my back, but it got to the point where I was a burden to them. Also, they never told me about prices or extra charges for anything, so my bill was wayyyyy higher than expected. So, I called and talked to a manager and the manager was extremely nice and apologetic. I then went back and again, it was terrible. So, ordered my contacts through 1-800-contacts without any issue (eye doctor sends in prescription, or went through easily with no problem). Well, now that I'm out of contacts again, I tried ordering through 1-800-contacts again and they were DENIED because Vision Works can't get it right. Again. So when I tried called just now, I was met with attitude and impatience from whoever I talked to. I have never been treated like this and I will never ever go back. If you're looking for a friendly and welcoming place, this is not the place. read more

THE WORST! If I could give zero stars I would. Do not use this place for exams or glasses. My husband had an exam by the male optometrist and placed an order for 2 pairs of glasses. He received the 1st pair for just distance they were blurry and he was told he just needed to get use to them. The second pair were bifocals. He could not see at all out of them. He returned and was told it was him, when he continued to protest they had the female optometrist check his eyes only to find out the male dr, who the employees then said was not good, had made the wrong diagnosis. The glasses were reordered only to again be incorrect!!! They told my husband to tilt his head a little to be able to see through the bifocal to read!! After going back and forth they finally refunded both pairs but not the exam. He went to an ACTUAL Optometrist and the 2nd eye exam was also incorrect. He received new contacts and glasses from the new optometrist he saw and not a single problem from the time he received them! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE as they continued to be defensive and place blame on my husband implying he was lying that he could not see with the lenses!! I also had ordered frames with a prescription from an outside optometrist at the same time for myself. My lenses arrived and seemed a bit off but I was told I needed to get use to them. I wore the glasses for over a month and finally rescheduled an exam with my optometrist only to find out my eyes had not changed but the lenses were the wrong strength and at the wrong angle by 90 degrees!! I could not believe it since I had actually given them the prescription!!! As an adult I can voice my opinion but how many children have received incorrect lenses from Vision Works that are told OH JUST GIVE THEM A TRY!! DO NOT USE THIS PLACE THEY ARE JUST TERRIBLE!! read more

I am in disbelief that an eye doctor would not care to get my prescription correct so I can properly see. Sitting in the exam and telling her I cannot see, the letters are blurred and I don't think it's right. Instead of starting over she tells me it's right and as good as it can get that she started from my base prescription and that's where I'm at. Inexcusable. I asked to start out as if this were my first visit. What if the previous dr had it wrong too? I think I'm supposed to see clearly from both eyes, don't you?!!! Why'd you become an eye dr if it wasn't important for you to get people's vision right, while they're sitting there telling you it's wrong. Drop the ego, gain some patience and listen to your customers! I feel stuck right now with a bad prescription bc it costs so much to go somewhere else and go through the process again since my insurance will only cover one visit per year and doesn't include contacts. read more

The service here is not good. They had helped zero with picking out the "right" frames. I mean "right" frames because they claimed there was a certain number the frames needed in order to fit the eyes (yes, frames that need to fit the eyes) right. After not helping us completely understand what that meant, we picked out a pair of glasses that were not that turned out not to be their magic number and they didn't saying anything about them not "fitting the eyes right." Also, multiple times they interrupted checking us out to help other people and answer the phone. The person who was said to be the manager, helped no one the entire time we were in the store, whether the store was busy or not. I mention or not because she also did not answer the phone. When I went to pick up the glasses the girl working behind was pretty rude as well. Clearly we will not be returning to this store for any future eyewear needs. read more
