The Optometrist doctor in the store is phenomenal.. she is kind, patient, helpful, clear and answered every question I had. My exam was flawless even with my talkative youngest with me. The mature woman with salt & pepper hair wearing glasses in the store was also super helpful when it came to understanding my insurance benefits and the costs of frames, lenses and so forth. The young female with black straight long hair and glasses was quiet and had a great experience with her phone while I sought out the best frames for myself. She wasn't a pushy sales type which I liked as she sat in the chair the entire time. The store was clean although didn't have the options I was looking for. I normally go outside my insurance network to Lens Crafters off Northern - but decided this time to try Vision Works in Avondale instead (in network). I did end up finding a pair of frames I could live with and had my glasses with lenses back within a week. I'd recommend this place solely based on the employees- as for the frame options (next time I'd probably return to Lens Crafters as they have many/variational options to choose from which I prefer). Overall - The Doctor is a plus & I would return for my exams. Hopefully she'll still be there next year! read more

My husband took my daughter in to get new glasses, then had to take her back in because the lenses were blurry on the outer edges. She's told me they never measured her pupils, weird. The guy who "helped" told her that her frames are too small. So he wanted her to find new frames. She wants to keep her frames. So I called after they got home, and the same guy who helped them told me, with an attitude, that the doctor did the pupil measurement. That doctor must be psychic if she knew the exact frames my daughter was going to pick out. The point of this review is- do better. This is someone's vision that, in my opinion, is not being taken seriously. Go work somewhere else if you're not interested in helping people. I didn't get his name, because I'm not interested in going back and forth with someone who doesn't want to hear what I have to say, but he was the only guy working there January 26, 2026, between 10:30-11:30 am. "While your horizontal Pupillary Distance (the distance between your pupils) typically remains the same, the vertical center of the lens depends entirely on how a specific frame sits on your nose and face. The doctor was great 11/25/25. The staff was okay. But why have I not received my contacts yet. Status keep saying pending. I went in before Christmas and they called the lab. Lab said my contacts on back order and will be shipped out 1/9/26. Called today still no answers No contacts. This is ridiculous. The lab nor the store has called and said anything. At they point they OWE me something. These are from my 2025 insurance so canceling means I forfeit my benefits due to No fault of my own. I would hope this reaches the shareholders and the CEO. I may be a little late on writing my review, but I'm hoping by now this person is not working there. She's definitely not a sales person. This young lady's name is Ivory. I went to Visionworks with barcode in hand and picture of glasses ready to go. I walked into Visionworks, not one person greeted me. I had to walk to this young lady and ask her if she can help me. She saw my picture and barcode. She then looked for the glasses where they would be and she said they were unavailable and that she could not find them so I asked her if they can order them. She immediately told me No! So again I asked her if she can call another store And again she immediately told me No! So I asked her again, Is there anything she can do for me . She asked me to show her the barcode once more, went to the back and just told me that somebody else was trying them on that I would have to wait and then she proceeded to sit back at a desk and do nothing. That is the worst customer service I've ever received from this Vision works. I decided not to wait and just left the store. I ended up buying my glasses elsewhere. I was just so very disappointed. This girl was just very cold and rude. She had no communication skills and did care to help me out . I love Vision works!! They have a great selection on glasses and great promos. So terrible. After purchasing my glasses and sunglasses, I wanted to return my frames, and just have my lenses put in my existing frames. I've called so many times, no one ever answers, I've tried to contact anyone on live chat, I've emailed and got an email back saying "someone will reach out shortly."..... that was 2 weeks ago!! This is absolutely ridiculous! I spent damn near $500, I want some sort of customer service. Also, the very large woman sitting in the front is completely rude, and laughed at me when I asked her about if the lenses were glass or plastic. Horrible service! I've been to another location before but my experience was much smoother. This location is absolutely awful. I made my appointment may 31st everything went smooth. I took both eye exams for lenses and contacts. I was not given a date but I was given a time frame.. I was told in a couple of weeks I would receive the trial.. come three weeks later I still have no call, text, email. I had to call in. Just to be told I needed to wait until June 27th. I waited until june 27th and I still had no update from Visionworks. I had to call and call and call again! Finally I got a hold of them but was told my contacts didn't arrive on the 27th they are actually being pushed back couple of more weeks. At this point I was very upset and told them I need these contacts I don't have lenses because I'm waiting for the contacts to buy the lenses bc of a promotional offer they have. Finally I agreed to meet to a contact try on meeting even though they were not my contacts they were close to the ones I had sent over.. the day of the meeting I went in late because I had gotten pulled over which I understand was not their fault but the dr was not personable at all, instead she made it seem like I was the inconvenience when really, I'm the one that's been waiting on these dang contacts for what's about to be TWO months! I told them to cancel everything and I would be taking my business elsewhere. I've just about had it with the unprofessional matter my business has been dealt with. read more

I never leave reviews, but this location is horrendous. The service there is horrifying. No one seems to do their job right, including the optometrist. I recommend the location in Goodyear, that optometrist is way better and the receptionist actually do their job and are nice. I had to make multiple trips to this location just to get the right prescription because they kept screwing it up. Then after having the prescription corrected and "ordered" I waited patiently for them to contact me to pick them up. 2 weeks pass by and I call them, it turns out they never ordered them..... so they offer me contact trials for the delay and when I come pick them up apparently my contacts arrived as well and they refuse to offer me the contact trials. The back receptionist were so unprofessional looking at each other making facial expressions when I asked them for the contacts, which made me feel uncomfortable being there so I left. This location has been a complete nightmare, I will never come back & I highly encourage others to do so as well unless they hire new staff that is actually professional and do their job instead of being rude to their customers and lying to them. read more

I had such a good experience getting my exam done and picking out frames. I have been coming to this location since 2017 as well! Their service was fast and everyone was friendly. The doctor took his time to explain everything and answer my questions. They also have a big selection of frames to pick from. I like that they give you a tray to keep the frames you touch in so they can sanitize. But I also feel like you miss out on frames since they're in "dirty" trays. Also trying to get an appointment is a little frustrating. They're booked so far ahead that you can't get a same week appointment or the next week. It's almost a month ahead booked! So don't wait until the last minute to book your appointment like I did. Otherwise I really like this location and all the employees. read more

Went to Visionworks at my sister's recommendation. When we walked in an older female employee looked us over but did not greet us. She was with a customer but I didn't think her saying Hello would have compromised her attention from the person she was helping. Right then I decided that they weren't getting MY business. My husband had an appointment with the associated optometrist so we stayed to get his prescription. He had to wait a little bit to be called so we walked around looking at the frames. Every other person who came in this employee, in the green button up shirt, made a point to say Hello to them and ask if she could help them. Granted we weren't dressed in business attire but we weren't ready to be on the people of Walmart pages either. read more

Won't go back here. They make things very difficult. Staff seems to not want to be there. Forget about ever trying to get anyone on the phone. I made an appt weeks in advance, filled out the new patient form online w/ all my info and insurance coverage. Leading up to the appt I get a missed call from their office saying I need to fill out the new patient form online beforehand. I tried calling her back, but you can't call any location directly, so I got routed to their general customer service line, who then put me on hold for 15 min to finally say "sorry, nobody is answering at that location." So just to make sure there aren't any issues, I go online to complete the new patient for again before my appt. When I arrived, you have to walk thru the retail portion of the location first - no one greets me even though there are 2-3 employees just standing around and looked in my direction. So I tell them I have an eye exam appt, one person dismissively says..."oh, go back there" and gestures to the optometrist office. The girl at the front desk asks "did you fill out the new patient form?" I told her yes, twice. She then proceeds to have me stand there and provide her with more information and insurance information. I said "you guys asked for that on the new patient form online, why are you asking again?" She said their system doesn't allows provide their local office with all the details. Ok, annoying but fine, I gave her all my info again. Then had to fill out additional paperwork. The optometrist tech/assistant had zero customer service skills. Afterwards they had me standing at the desk again for another 15 min cuz they had to collect my co-pay but had issues entering my insurance into their system. The optometrist office is run as a separate business from the retail portion of Visionworks. The retail experience was terrible. I get out of the eye appt and was directed to the retail to select glasses. There were 2-3 people just standing around - I asked one guy about selecting glasses...he wasn't doing anything, but motioned me to sit down and the other guy will help me. The other guy came over, he was nice but completely useless. Provided no meaningful consultation/advice, didn't seem to know much about any of the brands they carry. And then told me my insurance (which is a very premium insurance) only covers exams but no materials/glasses at all. I left, called my insurance and verified they do cover $150 towards materials. So I try to call back to make an appt to order the glasses and get fitted...but was on hold for 45 minutes w/out even getting a live person on the phone. I hung up. I'm only giving them any stars at all because the optometrist Dr. Zema was great. Knowledgeable, patient, and not pushy. read more

I stopped in with a general question about swapping lenses from one pair of frames to another (I have this awesome glasses that broke but the lenses are perfect and I found the exact frames but was unsure who would change them out). The general manager, Ernest Primera was wonderful and said "No need to take them anywhere I can do it!" He changed them out for me, cleaned them and showed me what was wrong with the other pair (other place called MyEyeDr told me they were non-repairable)! He was so kind to do it for me quickly and I was treated very well. I will definitely come back when it's time to re-order some contacts or new frames. I was there with my daughter for glasses and the front desk lady was all chirpy with other customers when it was my turn her demeanor changed and was very condescending.... I'd hate to pull out the racial card but I can't help to notice I was the o it hispanic person at the time.... when she found out I was a nurse she started treating me different. This location is the absolute worst place. The heavy set lady at the front is really rude. The quality of the eye glasses are very poor. I brought my sons glasses back 3 times and I still have to adjust and tighten them. My daughter I had to bring back 4 times the last time them having to be replaced and they still weren't right the lenses keep falling out. If you try calling you will never speak to any one they don't answer their phones you will get re -routed to a central customer service that knows nothing about nothing. I told my wife to come here after a positive experience from a different location in Mesa. BIG MISTAKE... but I'll get to that. But first, to the copy-and-paste guy who responds to every post wanting people to email their information, stop it. It's insulting. If you can't solve problems or address the issue in the store, you're subtly suggesting that "THIS TIME" something will happen, giving the impression you care only after someone takes the time to inform others of their poor experience. If you cared, it'd show in your reviews before people got angry enough to post a negative sentiment. It shows you failed to meet decent customer service standards in a reasonable business setting, and this is far too late to act like you care now by implying that somehow you're going to fix it. I've yet to see anyone update their post expressing a positive sentiment, so I don't believe that there's any real offer extended. So don't bother. The doctor will always - ALWAYS - "recommend" the polycarbonate or Trivex lenses, and if you don't believe me, do an eye exam and see the recommendation. They will NEVER recommend the regular plastic lenses, and this, of course, comes with a steep upcharge for the lab. As do the lineless bi-focals, and they charge by the lens. Somehow, despite having free plastic or glass lenses, and a $150 credit towards frames, two pairs of glasses ended up being $999 on the receipt, "discounted to" $480. In the past, I've been able to get a great pair of glasses for about $50 above and beyond my insurance. NOT THIS STORE. They added - specifically against my wife's wishes - an additional UV/anti-glare coating at $140 PER LENS, which is preposterous. While both polycarbonate and Trivex lenses are thinner and lighter than regular plastic lenses, they also offer 100 percent protection from the sun's harmful UV light. Even under pressure, she said no. So, salesperson said he'd remove it, and charged her anyway. Uncomfortable with the situation, she came to me immediately after the fact, and shortly after, I went to the location to attempt a resolution. When confronted with the information posted above, and explaining my situation, they argued with her in the store, literally accusing her and demanding she admit that she asked for the coatings. And "by they", I mean a manager, and a large lady who would turn around, throw comments and input at her whims, and then go back to helping the customer in front of her. I see a few posts down, someone posted a picture of her in a green button up shirt. I'm pretty sure she runs the show, but the "manager" was a short, balding fellow who wanted me to finish my complaint and leave because I had already paid, and at this point, I'm nothing but a nuisance. It's okay, he didn't have to say it. His tone of voice and vocal treatment of us in front of others was very clear. In the end, I wanted them to refund the coating my wife asked to NOT have added, which was $140 per lens, and they said they would only do it if we returned the glasses and had them redo it. By that time, I realized that I had made a huge mistake giving the place my business, and decided to eat the loss, apologize to my wife, go out to dinner and NEVER EVER RETURN to this dumpster fire of a location. I'll be sending a complaint to the corporate office, and looking to see if this maybe falls under the auspices of the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures. What they did was arrogant, aggressive and creepy. I'm wondering if it's illegal. I'm in awe that any business could run like this. I know that other VisionWorks have qualified people at the helm, but even that can't save this. I'm never coming back, and this store ruined the whole brand for me. I went across the street to Costco and signed up as a member to take advantage of their program, and will be sending my prescriptions into Zenni, an online company, and probably save a bundle in the process, both in money and headache. So Mr. Internet Responder, if you would like to offer a full refund of $280 for the $140/each-lens coating without any further discussion, say so here and I will accept the refund and consider doing business with VisionWorks again, although it will NEVER be this location again. I'll also vow to update this post showing you cared enough to put your money where your mouth is, but based on the clown show I just put up with from the staff, my expectations are understandably low. I had a wonderful experience at Visionworks on Monday. I was checked in at the front desk upon arrival and everyone had masks on along with hand sanitizers everywhere. I then went to check in for my eye exam and that was quick and simple. I was seen by Dr. I (for short) and he was very kind and informative answering all my questions. I was in and out in an hour, no mess, no fuss. The store was very clean and the employees were all professional and thoughtful. I made an appointment with the optometrist office within this store. When I made the appointment (with the staff of Vision Works) I confirmed I would get ALL measurements, including the PD measurements so I could order glasses online. I was upfront as I never intended to order glasses from VW. I was assured I would get all measurements. I would have gone elsewhere, if I wasn't going to get all measurements. Upon finishing eye exam, I asked about measurements and the super RUDE lady working there gave me a super hard time. She said they didn't provide those measurements unless you purchase glasses. She was totally put out by the 30 seconds it took to put a machine up to my daughters eyes to provide me measurements I needed to get my daughter glasses. Not to mention SUPER rude! This is a new store that is building and with the terrible customer service and bad attitude of this employee, good luck! This same lady who was so put out to share this simple measurement with me was in the back room while we waited to see optometrist cursing, where I could hear her loud and clear. I would NEVER buy glasses from here based on my experience. The optometrist was great ... VW... not so much! To the employee who humiliated me... you never know how people will respond to bad customer service. They might come over to Yelp and share... keep that in mind. Customer service is what motivates people to work with you... bad customer service drives people like me away. Good customer service brings people over to Yelp to say good things, which I would have done, because you are a new business... especially. I love to support new businesses even when people mess up. I then worked with a very inexperienced and unprofessional associate. She started quoting prices to me without checking my actual insurance policy and proceeded to keep changing the price when I pointed out that I thought it was incorrect. When I got uncomfortable with this practice and asked to take my prescriptions with me to shop elsewhere, she shrugged and said that was fine without asking for my business or getting anyone else to help.
