About 2 months ago, I took out my contacts, put them into the cleaning solution, and reached for my glasses, which weren't where they were supposed to be. I subsequently walked around the house, barely able to see, trying to figure out where I had left them, wandering from room to room, closely looking at every table and countertop. "NO MORE", I said. I wanted options to be less reliant on glasses and contacts, on which I've been dependent for over 40 years. I made an appointment with Dr. Hwang, and from the moment I walked into the office, I knew I was good hands. Everybody was friendly, professional, and personable. I can actually list names of his staff with whom I interacted; they are all so easy to deal with and talk to! Dr. Hwang came into the exam room and we discussed my options, which included LASIK and IOLs (intraocular lenses). He is crazy smart and not only completely answered all my questions, I could actually understand everything he said; he's got a really good talent for making the complicated things easy. I couldn't have asked for a better specialist to help guide me through the process. After careful thought and weighing the pros and cons he laid out, I decided to have refractive lens exchange (RLE) which basically is cataract surgery but without my having cataracts. I chose a newer, extended range lens similar to a multi-focal that promises good near vision as well as distance. He performed the surgery a month ago. The surgery staff were just as amazing as his office staff; they work together like a well-oiled machine. Everyone was friendly, respectful, professional, and overall blew me away with how little it felt like actual surgery. The experience was painless, not even uncomfortable. It was quick. It was easy. That night I woke up and glanced at my alarm clock, and realized I could see it from lying down; no more reaching out to pull it closer! I went back to work two days after the surgery, seeing near, seeing far, seeing the computer screen, all without needing to reach for my glasses. It's amazing! The most impressive thing of all is I will never get cataracts and my vision won't significantly change as I get older. She was rude as soon as I got in there to check in. Very unprofessional and loud saying mean and rude things in from of all the patients waiting. Very embarrassing. I can see again!!! What price, what amount of stars, can you put on that???!!!! As a healthcare professional I had heard many stories about the miraculous return of sight after cataract removal and installation of intraocular lenses. Rapidly, I was losing my sight and it became more and more difficult to perform my job functions. Not knowing any of the physicians at the Arizona eye specialists I chose Dr. Hwang randomly. When I met him, I was immediately impressed with his straightforwardness, his candidness, and his professional outlook. He said that's a combination of my cataracts and astigmatism and underlying retinal disease made my case a difficult one, and that he could not guarantee 20/20 vision, or more light into the eyes, or a sense of return of color vibrancy. But, he did believe that I would be pleased with the result. He asked me if I wanted to have the surgery done right away and I replied yes. I was pleased that the surgery was scheduled within two weeks. The first surgery of the left eye went very well, and I was amazed that within a week after the surgery my vision was restored to 20/20 vision in the left eye. Dr. Hwang was also very pleased with the result of the first surgery. Yesterday I underwent surgery of the right eye, which also went well. Today for the first time since childhood, I performed by daily tasks without having to wear corrective lenses. I am very impressed with Dr. Hwang and with the entire staff at Arizona eye specialists and their affiliate, The Spectra eye Institute. Thank you very much for your wonderful service. With all the great reviews I called to make an appt here for an eye exam. Was on hold FORVER, finally got through and the operator was rude and hung up on me. I'm a new patient, saw Dr. Skibell. Already had my new patient paper work completed when I arrived, so there was no wait time got right in. Went through all my testing. The tech I had was a little to quite for me but she was fine. Went through all there testing which I'm use too. I was diagnose with glaucoma some years back. The reason I was seeing Dr. Skibell, is my previous doctor from a different practice left. So I had to find a new doctor. Did my homework and decided to try AZ Eye Specialist and Dr. Skibell. Dr. Skibell, took his time to explained my tests results to me and asked if I had any question. The office was quite not like some where they are busy busy. If you have eye issues I would recommend Dr. Skibell and his team. And for the office staff they were friendly and receptive. I did have to wait several months to get in. This is the worst eye office. I needed one dmv form filled out and 3 times I had to go back. First time they used white out, the 2nd time the dmv rejected it fir not being complete. The Dr. who finally saw me was wonderful. I guess I hadn't ever been to an opthamologists office where the technicians do all the testing first before the Dr sees you. It was fine. Showed up 15 min early to do paperwork and receptionist were fine. Sat waiting for my apt without knowing they were running late. As I sat there three people came in were seen and left before I was even taken back to my apt. Yes they could've been tech appointments but it was still irritating not getting an update and sitting there for over 45 minutes before being seen not counting the 15 minutes early that I was there. Plus my husband had to takeoff work because I couldn't see and without getting any updated information he had to just wait for me in a parking lot for hours. Due to covid they wouldn't let him come in. Once I got back to start the testing the assistant that did all my tests was wonderful, Friendly, nice and really pleasant to be around. The Dr was a huge disappointment he was rude and very condescending. Horrible bedside manner. I can see why I got in to an appointment in 2 days versus October at the original one I want to schedule at. The only saving grace for the two stars was the assistant.
