Stay away from this store. The staff is poorly trained & lazy. I bought 2 pairs of glasses there & after TWO trips back my glasses still didn't fit. I ended up at Four Eyes to get them fixed. i don't think the staff there has any idea how to fit glasses and it' was painfully obvious that customers are an annoyance to them. Worst service. Put me on hold for 35 minutes then hang up. They couldn't locate my order when 5 days ago, they told me it's coming on December 2. I called today and they told me there was no order on file. How can that happen when I left the my glasses there so the can use my old lenses to use for the new frame that I ordered. I called again and it says that it's they are not taking any calls because it's after office hours when it's only 6PM and they closes at 7pm. First impression when I went in Vision Works was how run down the place looked, the eye doctor herself was friendly and knowledgeable, however afterwards I ordered contacts, which were supposed to arrive on 9/7 didnt, I called 2 days later and the person whom I spoke to had no clue to what happened, other than the order was "rejected" he told me the next day the manager would call, they didnt and $241 I have no idea where they are, what is happening, no communication, I am proceeding to file complaints with IL regulators I filed a complaint with the email they provided, I received a call from the from "Taz" ? on 11 Sept telling me that the contact lens order was being shipped to my place and would arrive that day, its now the 16th of Sept and they have no idea where its at read more

Had an appointment scheduled for 4pm. Arrived at 3:45pm for appointment. Fox Valley Mall is under construction, building apartment complexs around the outer area of mall. Parking is at a premium. Could not find parking on the upper level near store. Had to drive around to other side of mall to find parking. Took 20 minutes to find parking and walk to the other side. Walked in at 4:05 and was told I had to reschedule. I told the girl about the parking situation and she said it wasn't her problem, I should have arrived sooner. Told her I arrived at 3:45 for 4pm appointment and she again said I needed to reschedule. Even if it was my fault, businesses usually give 10-15 grace period, not just 5 minutes. Went to LensCrafters on the other side of the mall and made an appointment there. VisionWorks customer service has been going down hill over the last several years. You can see this by other reviews as well. The staff is negative, hostile, and not customer friendly. There was no one else in the store waiting for an appointment at the time of my appointment. The last time I had an appointment, they ordered the wrong prescription for me. I started ordering through 1-800 Contacts, but thought I would give them another try. Dr. Shukla was great! I'm so glad I didn't listen to the bad reviews. I needed a routine eye exam but I also had some weird pain on my upper eye lid and a dust particle stuck on my pupil. Dr. Shukla took time to explain everything to me and went above and beyond to flip my eye lid and gently remove the dust particle without scratching my eye. I'm incredibly grateful and will absolutely return to this Visionworks! The staff in the office were also kind and welcoming. The office was clean and I have zero complaints! read more

This is got to be one of the most consistent negative experiences I've had at this location. The girls that work there have a tendency to not be helpful but rather put out to help customers. Today I had come in for them to check if my frames could be repaired, and they gave what seem to be a roll of the eyes. That was enough for me to write this review. As regards the products, the eyeglass frames at Visionworks are on the more expensive side for nicer ones but not terrible. The problem is that it can be coupled with bad service. Very disappointed in the service here. Went in after work for a pair of glasses and the service was terrible. No one wanted to help me even though there were no other customers in there. The glasses to try on haven't been cleaned in a while and have finger prints all over them. The person behind the desk, who never got up, tried over charging me double the price, wouldn't listen to what I wanted, so I finally left. Went to LensCrafters, but they weren't in my network. Later that week I went to VisionWorks in Yorktown Mall and had a great experience. They explained my insurance coverage to me and listened to what I wanted. I recommend going to that one instead of Fox Valley Mall. Oh and when the Yorktown location called the Fox Valley location, the Fox Valley location was rude to them as well. read more

I've worn glasses since I was about seven years old (yikes, almost 30 years...), and I'm here to say that no matter where you go, the process of getting new ones is a pain. You wade through a million styles to basically choose your face for the next couple of years, then adjust to a new prescription and hope it all works out. It's been a few years since my last scrip change, and a trip to the eye doctor revealed that my eyes have indeed gotten worse (yay!), so I headed to Visionworks to see if they could hook me up with new frames. Unfortunstely I was hindered by the current style of chunky hipster plastic geek glasses. They are everywhere and there wasn't much else to choose from. Finally I found a pair that i thought I liked and sat down with Yasmin for comprehensive preparation before the new pair would be made. She was very detailed, thorough, great job. A handful of days later I got the new frames, and...I hated them. Didn't look right on my face, the plastic had no nosepieces so they were constantly sliding down. I wasn't happy. But thanks to their return policy (and the work of Juliet, who did a redo with my insurance company to undo the purchase), I was able to instead get new prescription lenses for my old glasses and sunglasses frames for almost exactly the equal cost. A week later those were ready, and it took an hour for them to fit into my old frames. Maureen helped me close the circle and make sure everything was satisfactory in the end; this ended up bring the best option, and maybe next time I need a scrip change the chunky plastic frames will have pushed on. Overall, I commend these people for their steadfast service to get my transaction right and help me be happy. I literally do not spend a waking minute of the day without my glasses on my face, so it's an important factor in my life! I definitely recommend this location and thank them heartily. read more

Finally after the women in the store decided to stop there conversation One asked why I was there, I told her I had a eye exam appointment. She said oh you must of have had it set online because Our system is not working right because we don't have any Doctors on Tuesday and Wednesday,but would you like to set an appointment when the Doctors are in. Alyssa the store manager defenetly is a great,unreplacable asset for this place and I can tell her presence there has changed the place towards a successful direction. We ordered two pairs of glasses in August and received only one pair. We cannot get a straight answer on the second pair after many attempts visiting in store and calling customer service to locate the second pair. It is impossible to call people at the store directly. The listed phone number for the store always goes to a general customer service call center that does not have any specific info on our order. Messages left for the manager to call us have not been returned. It appears to us that the second pair of glasses have just been lost but we keep getting a runaround and no solution. Called this location to make an appointment as it was a recommended place from my insurance provider. Receptionist was less than friendly and then when I tried to make an appointment abruptly put me on hold saying she had a patient. I ended up making a game of it to see how long I'd be on hold. She actually never returned to the phone. Someone else picked up after twenty-five minutes and said, "Oh. Were you holding for someone?" I've worked in a medical office before. Rudeness and being put on hold is not a good way to attract and retain patients. I'll take my business elsewhere. Recommend you do too. read more

I'm only giving them 4 stars because when we came in for our scheduled appt, the woman that was in the showroom at the time was rather rude and seemed unhappy that someone walked in and disturbed her. Otherwise, the doctor was awesome with her exam and her advice to my son. Imani was awesome helping us get what we needed and made sure we got the best deal with our insurance. She didn't try to oversell additions like some places do. She told us what they were and let us decide with no pressure. read more

This review doesn't necessarily reflect the business but rather the efficiency of the staff at this location. Sat, Dec 7th 2019: I returned my prescription glasses to be refitted with a progressive type lens and computer screen filter. The agent that helped me was great and said that she would do the necessary insurance protocols and get back to me to get the difference in cost within a day or two from Mon Dec 9th. Dec 20, 2019: I am still waiting. My wife calls for an update and apparently, the lady who picked up was on the phone with my insurance and was on hold (what are the bloody odds??) and said that she would call back once she got an answer. Dec 21, 2019: I called and spoke to the GM, who seemed irritated that I had the nerve to inquire the status of an order. She said that she didn't know what the status was and that we had to wait until the original agent came in at 3:00pm. I asked her if there was anyone else who can help me, she said that she was the general manager (which was a bit bizarre since that was not my question). I said to her: "Excellent, so if anyone would know the status, it would be you". Unfortunately this seemed to irritate her more and she let me know that the only way i could be helped is once Agent who worked with me came in at 3pm. I suggested whether she agreed if the process was incompetent. The lady, I mean the general manager then asked me whether I was saying that she was incompetent and I answered with a quick: " Yes, I am" and she thanked me :D (THANKED ME). As it wasn't necessary for me to belittle her or make her "feel bad", as a "general manager", one would think that she would be aware of outstanding cases. What I will do is wait until 3pm-3:15pm and then reach out to Vince Lavaroni. By far the worst Eye Glass Showroom Experience I had. I am unhappy due to multiple reasons. 1. Even though the Showroom is huge they have the scantiest variety of eye glasses. Sun glasses are even less. 2. Prices are super inflated. Mostly because Insurances like VSP etc give a huge rebate on the glasses. The prices have been inflated to normalize the discounts. 3. The Staff would pester you to buy something or the other, because your insurance covers it. On one occasion I was even told if I step outside the showroom without buying a sunglass, my insurance wont cover it next time :) The only good part is the Doctor who sits there. But after reading these recent negative customer service reviews there is no way I will. I'll likely go to LensCrafters's who I know takes my insurance, will cost more, but will do a great job. DO NOT COME HERE! I had the WORST experience. I sped all the way from out of town to be on time for my appointment only to find out I had to wait 20 minutes in addition to my appointment time to have someone check my eyes. The ladies who were assisting me were rude and obnoxious. They even made fun of my name behind my back.. At that point I was furious. When I was finally called up for my appointment the optometrist was very friendly and personable. After my exam I was seated so I can wait again for another staff member to assist me. At this point I have been at the facility for over an hour. I informed the ladies that I was under a time crunch and would like to take my lens prescription and order my lenses online. They were anything but nice about my response. On my way out the doctor gave me two free boxes of trial contacts. The rude lady rushed over and asked to see if they were expired (they both had an expiration date of 2017) as an excuse to say I could only have one box since I was not buying a box of contacts from their facility. At that point I officially had enough and just left. I am so appalled by the lack of respect and professionalism. This place does not even deserve a star... Great business!! -- I have been coming here for the past two years and I can honestly say that I am overall very satisfied with their service, as well as my prescription glasses. Alyssa has assisted me in selecting my glasses on two separate occasions, and both times she was very pleasant and helpful. She was also Diligent in making sure they arrived in a timely manner. Fast forward 9 months-- both pairs of my glasses broke, and I brought them back into this store. Over 45 minutes after our appt time we were told they couldn't do the contact fit up as the trained person wasn't avail. "Come back Monday". I have been coming here for a few years. Most of the time service has been ok. One of my most recent visits on Dec. 2nd around 5:30pm was the worst. I came in and the lady at the front desk didn't smile or greet me she just looked at me like "OMG wth are you doing here? We don't have any more appointments scheduled for today." And then she spoke to me with that same tone and look. So rude. I need their help with something but I can't get a hold of them right now. They have a vm set up that says, "due to high volume of customers and Covid we are only able to answer a limited number of calls" it repeats then it hangs up. I went to their main website chat and got default auto responses, not a live person, and then was told it could take up to 2 days for someone to get back to me. So I cannot get help at all for possibly 2 days. I will never come back here again! I had a recent visit to this branch and It was disappointing. Staff were not polite and I felt like that they don't like what they are doing. Only the Doctor is kind, polite and very helpful. I bought a pair of eyeglasses that is one of their expensive brand but I asked the clinical specialist (Sarah) to adjust it and ended up in a very ugly and uncomfortable to wear. I ended up here because Vision Block sent me here for a "free" routine eye exam. My afternoon was wasted because Visionworks are clueless and ignorant - or they lied - about which health plans they accept. . My health plan - Block Vision - told me that an exam would be covered, and I was led to this provider. When I made the appointment, I was assured by Visionworks that my exam would be covered under Block Vision. So I made the trip... After filling out the paperwork, and doing the preliminary test, I was told that they could not get a authorization to bill Block Vision. I had to interrupt my exam - which I never got - to get on the phone with Block Vision. After about two hours of back & forth between myself, Block Vision, and Vision Works, it turned out that Vision Works is not a provider under my plan after all. Block Vision acknowledged their mistake and said they would pay for my exam, anyway. However, Visionworks did not acknowledge their mistake in accepting my insurance...and then backing out, so they refused to do the paperwork for the billing. By the end of the conversation, the doctor's shift had ended, and Vision Works wouldn't help me with the billing, so I never got my exam. I heard how much this place sucks from another horror story, but I ended up here because Vision Block sent me here for a "free" eye exam. It cost me an entire afternoon. read more

The doctor's are very nice, but the people working the office and computers have no idea what they're doing. They wasted 3 hours of my life, telling me my insurance was out of network when it actually was in network the whole time. A supervisor finally came in and figured it out within seconds, and was confused what the issue was in the first place. Least helpful manager/receptionist I have ever dealt with. Not a people person at all. Seems like she would be much happier stocking shelves somewhere than talking to customers who are trying to give business to the store. What made my wife and I walk out, though, was how she treated the couple right behind us. She kept going on about how he hadn't confirmed his appointment, but he said he never got a text that asked for confirmation. Neither did my wife and I, but she never asked us about confirmation. Then she started telling the guy to stop shouting at her, and HE WASN'T. He wasn't even loud. She said "I'm not going to help you, sir, if you're going to catch an attitude with me." Exact words. I was so shocked to hear a manger (that's what she said she was) talk that way to a customer. Naturally the guy and his wife were pretty upset, so they left and we left too, but the lady just acted like it was no big deal. I guess this particular Visionworks just doesn't need the business. They'll certainly never get mine, nor will any Visionworks anywhere else. If you want to be treated decently, like a human being, take my advice and avoid Visionworks. read more

Holy cow! Do not go here if you want good overall service for your glasses! So I had to make TWO appointments at this place since they lost my first appointment (how could that happen?) When I went there, things were fine for the most part. However the glasses I received from them were awful! I went to LensCrafters and my doctor asked me where did I get my glasses since they were only about half of what I really needed. Which definitely explained why I still had trouble seeing with my glasses. Ugh, I thought it was just my vision getting worse, but it was because the doctor at Visionworks gave me the wrong prescription!! Do not go here! Keep looking if you want QUALITY glasses! read more
