I've worn contacts for 40+ years and haven't changed my contacts for a while. She wanted to find the best bifocal contacts so that I could see better both far and near. I would like to begin by saying that this is not about this location. It is about the location in Platte City, Mo on Kentucky Ave. To begin, I have brought my cousin to Vision source for years because her father works nights and isn't awake during normal business hours. They are aware of this. Well, I had thought everything went smoothly. She received her glasses and everything. About a week later, I received a call from Children's Mercy Hospital saying they had a referral for my cousin because she had liquid buildup in her eye. Now, I kind of went silent for a moment and I asked who made the referral because I didn't know anything was wrong. They didn't say anything to me. Well, my cousin overhears this and says "Oh, the doctor referred me because something is wrong with my eye." So they left a 15 year old to tell me or her dad. They called me today to verify she had an appointment. I called them back and said "Yes, I made the appointment. Can you explain to me why you told the minor something was wrong and not the parent or the person who brought her in?" The lady on the phone then says that they don't have her father's information and there was no consent on file. But I called before her appointment, and they said we were good to go. I even asked if they needed a letter from her father saying I could bring her in and be told whatever may be important to know. They said no. Well, they claim they don't have it today. So, I said, "The next time this kind of thing happens. Perhaps ask for the phone number of the person you need to talk to. I have his number, so does she. My issue was that I was shocked to find out my cousin needed to go see a specialist at 15 for her eye with a surprise phone call from a specialist." Don't excuse your lack of action by lying to me. If you really didn't have his information, you knew very well you could ask for it. I was asked for it today over the phone. That made LESS sense. read more

Extremely friendly staff, clean facility. I needed to change the type of contacts that I was using and the doctor himself made time to not only explain all the options and tell me which he thought was the best fit for me, but he also explained the scans of my eye to me. He took time that he didn't have to spend with a patient and used it to reassure me and give me the best experience. They also took cost into account and told me about a rebate for the contacts I was getting. I'm a loyal customer now! read more

Its been six years since I last had an eye exam and knew I needed to get some new glasses because ya know, seeing is essential to most tasks. After waking up one morning and putting my glasses on only for them to spontaneously break off my face really drove home the need for new ones so after a recommendation by a friend, called Insight. The receptionist was friendly and quickly scheduled me an appointment the next day which amazed me. I will admit I arrived a few minutes late and they were still very nice and ushered me in immediately. The first doctor I was examined by was thorough and answered a lot of my questions, plus it was the first time I was able to see an image of the inside of my eye so bonus points for SCIENCE! The entire exam lasted all of 40 minutes including the pre-exam warm up with the blast of air at my eye and shining the million watt light in there. When it came time to pick out new frames, I do wish their selection was a little bigger. It took me about 10 minutes to wittle the selection down to two and finally deciding on a pair that would accomodate my overly wide head. They informed me it would be 10 business days before the glasses came in but they usually get in sooner so I consigned myself to wait. Exactly a week later, I received the call they were in and like a kid at christmas I drove up there as soon as I could. The glasses were what I expected and after realizing a small snafu with the prescription, the doctor who was there gave me an immediate exam to correct some numbers. I have to wear theses glasses until the new ones come in but this was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone. read more

They charged me for an optional eye test without my authorization. They never provided me with a copy of my eye prescription. I had to drive back and get a copy. I will be disputing the charge and I will never visit this place again. read more

I was impressed with the visit I had this week. I don't remember the name of the optometrist, but she was young and really pretty. She did a great job explaining everything to me and she even showed me the pictures of the inside of my eyes. I like when doctors explain everything that is going on instead of just rushing me through. I will definitely come back. The ladies up front we're really nice too. read more

I started going to Vision Source on McGee about 10 years ago...when they were Insight Eyecare on New Mark. I was very impressed with the friendliness of the office staff and the optometrists. In fact, I finally had a correct diagnosis of iritis and a solid treatment plan for it. Fast forward to last week (Tuesday) when my husband and 11 year old son showed up for their annual eye exams (these were late-day appointments, close to closing). They were not greeted (even after an attempt at small talk about the storm and downpour) and the staff was not friendly (they were gathered together chatting). My husband was asked to provide his ID (which he did) and an ID for our son. When he said my son doesn't have an ID because he's 11, he received a snooty response of "oh". My husband didn't have any insurance information and asked if they could use the information I had provided at my appointment a few weeks prior. Again, a short, snide reply. At that point, my husband said that he'd rather not move forward with his appointment and just have our son continue. My son's appointment was completed without any issues. The optometrist was extremely nice and helpful. After my son's appointment, the optometrist came out to see what happened with my husband's appointment and the receptionist turned her chair around (with her back facing my husband) and spoke to the optometrist right in front of him. As my husband left, he told our son that "we'll have your mom bring you next time". We called the optometrist the next day to ask questions about our son's exam and she was so very helpful and patient with us. My husband spoke with her to explain what happened the day before. She suggested he schedule an appointment with her at another location. On Friday, my husband received a letter from the owner (not the same optometrist that we spoke with on Wed) stating the mistreatment of the staff would not be tolerated and our entire family was not welcome back. The letter was dated the same day of the exams. The owner did not and has not attempted to reach out to my husband to discuss what had happened. My husband not once cursed or raised his voice while in the office. My husband sent an email directly to the owner to explain what happened and has not received a response. This is very poor customer service and very disappointing considering the otherwise pleasant experiences we've had over the past 10 years. read more

I had great service here. The staff was friendly and helpful; they listened to my needs and got me exactly what I wanted. The whole process was very quick. The two strikes were bad testing/diagnosis, and glasses that worsened my vision. Incorrect test results led to a bad diagnosis, then multiple office visits to treat the condition of glaucoma. I'm a senior and don't appreciate the scare. Two second opinions disproved their finding. I had been pushed by my local office to have glaucoma exam ASAP. IOP went from 14 to 15 since last office visit. Local staff had just informed that they were using a new device to measure this pressure. Might that be the reason? Two second opinions tested much lower pressure and these results matched, though offices were not related. Further, the second opinion glaucoma exam found no evidence of glaucoma. It was scary considering this major change in my life. Was profit the motive? I don't know completely. I do know the technician started the exam with a bare explanation and that the testing went on for an extreme long time, and my eyes became tired. If the only significant result was this portion of the exam, well... Anyway, consider carefully any serious diagnosis. Meanwhile the local office, had created new glasses that worked worse than those they were replacing. I called the office and came in to have them fixed. The glasses still did not work. I was told that as I was older, I could expect reduced vision. There was no offer to make things better. My old glasses were working better than the new ones, and my prescription had barely changed. So why suggest new glasses? And why provide new ones that were worse than the replacement? Then not make it right? I went elsewhere, and now see perfectly with my new glasses. Now, the local office says I should have requested they make it right. Like how much further did I need to say? How many more visits? read more
