After a frustrating ordeal with EZcontacts.com - where I unknowingly purchased a frame marketed as…read more"new" that arrived used and stretched - and an unhelpful visit to LensCrafters, I decided to take a chance when passing by Hudson River Eye Care. Optician Rex Osei had no obligation to assist me, yet he went above and beyond, performing what seemed impossible and ultimately saving me $620! Experiences like this restore my faith in the fact that there are still skilled and genuinely kind people out there. Thank you, Rex!

"I was really disappointed with my experience at Croton Vision Center. I waited three weeks for my…read moreglasses after bringing in my own frame. At first, I was given one price, but when I arrived to pick them up, they added $100 to the fee. I asked why, and they said it was a calculation error. I never received any call or notification about this change. When I asked to see the calculation, they just crossed out the original amount and wrote in a higher number. The young man assisting me blamed the other staff member, but no one could explain the extra charge. In the end, I had to pay it, but I will not return to this business." Rebecca Makelainen

Cohen's Fashion Optical is a well-organized store with a good selection of glasses. Prices do seem…read morea bit higher than some other places, but the selection is solid. The staff up front were helpful, honest, and friendly. My wife saw Dr. Goodman, who was great -- very nice, clear, patient, and honest. It was a really good visit with her. The main downside was the wait time. I was told it was due to the appointment before us running long, but it ended up being about an hour and fifteen minutes before she was seen for her exam. Overall, still a good experience and solid service, just plan extra time in case things run behind.

Update my review of Cohen's Fashion Optical experience: They…read moreare awesome! Always liked the staff. But today I met the owner. My initial review of this place was not satisfactory. And he told me they take these reviews seriously and wanted to make amends. I wasn't really interested in them doing anything else, but he genuinely prefers a satisfied customer. He personally helped me at the counter and I left with a second pair of readers to be picked up later. Yes, I'm satisfied because they cared. So because of that I am saying I prefer to keep coming here for my prescription lenses and frames than any other place.

The customer service is terrible. The woman working there,…read morewho I believe is the owner, made me wait an extremely long time even though I had chosen my frames an had my prescription ready from my doctor. She had brought her dog to the store and was holding it while she helped other customers who clearly were undecided about what they wanted and were playing with her dog. I felt completely ignored as I stood there waiting and she didn't even acknowledge me that she would be helping me next. When the glasses were ready almost 2 weeks later, I had to wait again to pick them up even though there were no other customers in the store. The same woman was more interested in her texting than to help me.

At the time of my visit the older man working there kept trying to have me write down my social…read moresecurity number for him to use. Of course I refused this. He had all of my insurance information but kept claiming it wasn't enough. Just a creepy vibe from that guy. Then the young lady optometrist recommended I try a different type of contact lens and wrote the new brand to try in the "remarks" on the prescription pad. She gave me several days of trial lenses to see how they feel. She wanted me to know for sure the new brand felt good on the eyes before I ordered new lenses. She further said if I did not like the new brand that I should order my usual brand. The new brand felt terrible on the eyes and I decided to order the brand I've used for over a decade instead of the new brand. Now Raymond Optician keeps having Walgreen's cancel my online order because the staff at Raymond keep telling Walgreen's I'm ordering the wrong brand despite being told I didn't need to order the new brand if I didn't like it. I would not recommend Raymond Opticians under any circumstance.
