Everyone there is extremely friendly and helpful. They've even done some minor repairs for free.

At the time of my visit the older man working there kept trying to have me write down my social security number for him to use. Of course I refused this. He had all of my insurance information but kept claiming it wasn't enough. Just a creepy vibe from that guy. Then the young lady optometrist recommended I try a different type of contact lens and wrote the new brand to try in the "remarks" on the prescription pad. She gave me several days of trial lenses to see how they feel. She wanted me to know for sure the new brand felt good on the eyes before I ordered new lenses. She further said if I did not like the new brand that I should order my usual brand. The new brand felt terrible on the eyes and I decided to order the brand I've used for over a decade instead of the new brand. Now Raymond Optician keeps having Walgreen's cancel my online order because the staff at Raymond keep telling Walgreen's I'm ordering the wrong brand despite being told I didn't need to order the new brand if I didn't like it. I would not recommend Raymond Opticians under any circumstance. read more

This is a tale of two experiences. The tail end of lost glasses, sacrificed to the goddess of the Russian River. The Good Story - was a reasonable time frame to an eye exam, a solid, on time exam with the doctor and an updated prescription. I simply wanted to replace my lost frames and lenses, so ordering was easy - sat with a staff member who took all the info, dotted all the Is and crossed all the Ts. Said 10-12 days. Sure enough, two weeks later, I get a call that my glasses have arrived. Thus ends the good story. The Bad Story. It begins with wrong frames. Chrome instead of gunmetal. After a frustrating 15 minutes, the same staff member calls the supplier and states my replacement frames will arrive in one week and they will swap the lenses on site. Two weeks later - Wednesday - I call, having heard nothing, and am told no frames arrived and they show no order being placed. It is suggested I wait until next Tuesday when the original staff member returns from vacation. I ask for the manager who apologizes and orders two versions of gunmetal frames. He states they will be in by Friday and someone will call me. Today I call - frames have been in. Ask for manager who apologizes again and says they will provide immediate service when I arrive. I meet the original staff member - who again apologizes, saving the AOK three star rating. The Ending - my glasses are immediately swapped and all is as it should have been. Moral of the story - they need much better coordination and procedures. read more

I liked a specific frame but in a different color and Mike checked with his database and found the exact color I was looking for. Very, very happy to do business with this location. Ossining is a small town and word-of-mouth travels far. I will never go in there again nor recommend any Raymond opticians knowing that Ken /Mike have friends and family members in many of them. I was hesitant about writing this but the more I thought about it the more I needed to let someone know how poorly I was treated and will tell anyone who will listen/read never to use Raymond opticians. I posted on next-door Ossining and wasn't at all surprised to get feedback from many neighbors about sharing the same experience. Went in there for an appt last week and the man the at desk didn't even greet me!! I hate to play the race card, but i definitely think the Caucasian man that worked there was a racist. I went to pick up my glasses the other day and once again he didn't smile, he didn't say hello. He kind of just gave me a look of disgust. When a Caucasian woman walked in 10 minutes after me he politely greeted her!!! The nerve... And on top of that I got lenses to update my old glasses which only take a couple days or so to be ready. I had to call them a week after and hey told me they were ready. Like really? So unprofessional. Some of their employees should not be working there. My daughter and I have both had wonderful experiences here the past 15 years. We're both at the point where we will ask either Ken or Kevin (both great!) - which pair of frames? They've given suggestions enough times where my daughter and I have still wondered around trying on practically every set of frames in the store (and there's a big selection) only to wind up with the original pair they suggested (kind of like the wedding dress cliche'). Terrible experience at Raymond Opticians was fitted for contact lenses and was told that my vision had changed significantly. They ordered trial contact lenses. When I received them, I could not see out of them and went to have them rechecked. After a new exam by a new doctor with very little information given to me about what was up other than "hmmm, you are very unusual", I was told "I don't understand why you can't see clearly" and given a referral to a corneal surgeon and told to see her as she is the best in the area and I would be "happy as a clam". No information about why I was being referred to a corneal surgeon. I made an appointment for another ophthalmologist that I had worked with in the past (not Raymond Optician). My vision had not changed significantly since 2015 (Raymond was trying to put me into a MUCH too strong script), there is nothing wrong with my eyes and in fact, the glasses I was wearing (an old pair) were just fine. This experience was by far the worst I've had with them, but not the only bad experience. I kept using them because they are close to my job and take my insurance. I will never use them again. read more

Called to make appointments for myself and two others in my family. I specifically asked if I could use my HSA card to pay for our glasses and I was told yes. I had my husband call this morning to confirm and he was told no, they never take HSA cards as payment. I called back to cancel and the woman on the phone couldn't even locate our appointments! So glad we found this out BEFORE I wasted my money with them. Bad customer service, and it sounds like I am not the only one from these reviews. read more

optician was late and brought her coffee in the room. i didn't care so much about that but then they will only allow you one brand of contacts. i usually like to get a prescription and order a bunch of different brands and styles. thats what i have always done everywhere else and my lens.com order was rejected so i can only get one brand. thats ridiculous i won't go back. read more

If you like to be treated rudely, this is the place for you. I waited two weeks for a contact lens exam and when I showed up, the optometrist didn't have my lenses in stock so she couldn't examine me. Then the younger of the father and son team told me I had to pay for an examination regardless. When I tried to explain that I wasn't comfortable paying for an examination I didn't receive, he walked away and insulted me. I told him I heard his insult, and he told me that he was justified in insulting me because I was being difficult in not paying! This person didn't hear a word I said, just wanted his money. Customer service? Not at this location. Repeat customer? Not me. read more

Absolutely TERRIBLE DON'T GO I have a high RX and need a progressive lens.After asking for help picking out a frame that would fit my RX proper I was met with Blank Stares and a response like I was asking for something ridiculous. When I settled on a frame and received very little input as whether this would suite my RX.That when he had to measure my pupils for the correct fit he couldn't get it right and tried several rimes even with a fancy device you held up to your eyesI belong to VSP and he told me they where members (turns out they are NOT but gave me some money off but would have been cheaper if they where members) and with discount it came to over $600 bucks .When I finally received my glasses in order to read I had to lift up my glasses to see through the bottom of the lens.When I went back to the store and spoke to the ophthalmologist he basically said I had to tilt my head down and focus my eyes through the bottom.He was indifferent to fix it and basically dismissed me Ok Long story short Lived with this for almost a year ,saw the eye Dr for my annual check up my Rx hadn't changed while in BJ'S in Yorktown saw some frames I liked told them the story and he said they didn't measure you correctly Ordered new glasses with help picking them out and now for $300 CAN SEE !!! Moral of the story DON'T GO THERE WAY TO EXPENSIVE AND YOU JUST GET RIPPED OFF I hope this helps all of us who needed glasses to see and read!!! My ophthalmologist recommended Raymond Opticians to me and told me to ask for Kenny. I went directly there from her office. I looked all around for a semi-rimless frame like the one I was replacing and didn't see any like it. When Kenny came out to help me, I told him I guess he didn't have that kind of frame and he indignantly said of course he did, tons of them - but when he showed me the few he had, they were all narrow lenses, not like mine. I felt very put off by his manner, but then he bragged to me that he's taught at a college of optometry for many years, and when we discussed the kind of lenses my doctor prescribed, he listed all the many different makes of lenses and I thought, well I'm sure at least he really knows what he's doing. He gave me a price for just the lenses, which he could put into my current frames: $425. When I said that was a lot for me, he said he'd give me "a 20% discount", which would make them $340. I was going to go elsewhere to compare prices for the same thing and then stopped and thought, "This is the guy my doctor recommended, so I can be confident that I'll get the best care," and said OK. He took careful measurements of my eyes and said they'd be ready in 3 or 4 days and he could put them into my frames while I wait. Eight days later, I still hadn't heard from him, so I called and asked if they were in. After checking, Kenny said they were in. I reminded him that he'd told me it would take 3 or 4 days. He said "well, they're progressive lenses -- that takes more time." I asked why I hadn't been called when they came in and he said "You're on the call list, but you just got to us first." I felt he was just saying anything to get me off his back, so when I went to pick them up, I asked if I could speak to him privately. I told him that I felt his answer when I complained about not being called was dismissive and started to say an apology would have been appropriate and sufficient, but he interrupted me to tell me in a very defensive voice that he has so many orders ("see all those boxes on the shelves? Those are all orders I have to fill"), and he doesn't have enough people to make the calls; he's asked and asked but he never gets the help he needs. As far as I know, he is the owner and manager of the shop. Was he really expecting me to commiserate with his dearth of employees? At no time did he take responsibility for my dissatisfaction. When I told him I intended to tell my doctor about my experience, he said "Well, I'm sorry, but they're here now." The lenses were fine, and I'm sure he's a skilled optician but I regret going to him and feel I should share my experience with others. read more

if there were a 0, that is what this review would be..dropped my glasses off on Aug. 25 and still waiting...they are very unfriendly and after going back 4 times for my glasses and them not ready, not even a We are sorry...we will call you, any customer service treatment...Dana is correct, you walk in and they hardly look at you..like we are bothering them..I cannot say enough discrediting about this location...and no corporate phone number to call...,guess they dont want to hear from us...I am trying to get my money back..the answer I got after my 4th visit was "things happen" and today when i went in, they said the gentlemen i needed to see went home early...looks like 98% of reviews are negative...when i told my neighbor my story, she said she found the same treatment and went elsewhere..she is oblivious smarter than me...and way over priced for the service you will receive....thanks for listening.. read more
