I went with a Livingsocial deal- I paid about $35 for it and it covered for the eye exam, $225 toward prescription glasses, and spherical contact lens fitting.
Note: it says Ultimate eye wear on the deal, but the store is named Vision Center.
SURROUNDING: The store is in a small, very crowded shopping center. You will find parking, but you are going to have to flag it down like you are in Trader Joe's parking lot.
CARE: Dr.Gnanakkan was very nice, approachable and easy to communicate with. He was quick but thorough with my eye exam.
PRICE: Most frames range from $160-$250, plastic lens $75, additional $60 or so for polycarbonate lens. Their frames choices aren't that great- they have a lot of simple ones, but not much of the brands.
SERVICE: I made an appointment, but had to wait ~15 minutes to be seen.. Also, when I was waiting, I overheard the optician offering to take 50% of her polycarbonate lens and other additional discounts, but he didn't bother to offer me any. Maybe it was because I used the Livingsocial deal.
BOTTOMLINE: I got a good exam, pair of plastic lens glasses, and prescription for contact for $45. Not bad at all. Also, be sure to check out the Jewish deli next door! read more
