Vision Ace Hardware is truly like a neighborhood hardware store, if the Tampa area were to have such a thing. They have a very good selection of hardware needs, paint, plumbing, tools, garden and so much more. I like to go to Ace for garden supplies the most. Firstly, their plants are very well cared for. When I buy a plant from Ace, I feel pretty confident it is healthy and I can keep it alive. I always buy my soil and fertilizer here too. The plant pots here can be quite pricey, so I sometimes buy them elsewhere. Prices here can sometimes be higher than the big chain hardware stores, but sometimes lower. Depends on the item. One thing I buy here that they have the best price on is canning supplies. I make my own jams and jellies and Ace usually has the jars on sale. read more

During my visit, I asked an employee named Jim for assistance locating the chainsaws. Unfortunately, his response came across as dismissive and unhelpful, and he did not demonstrate a professional or customer-focused attitude. This interaction made my shopping experience less positive than expected. I would appreciate improved customer service in the future. Just moved up the block from this Ace Hardware. Needed some picture hanging items and went here as was nearby. What a great store. I may never go back to Home Depot. Great selection, super organized and bright store, with an amazing staff. Reminds me of what hardware stores were before the big box stores came but with better selection and extras. read more

Online pickup at this store is clunky. I placed an order and their online system told me to press a button when I got to the store and identify my car for delivery to my car. They have no parking for online orders but their website make you think it's curbside delivery. When I went inside to pick up my order, the person who gave me my order was insulting and acted like I was incapable of carrying a small weed whacker because I am a woman. He could have politely offered assistance, instead of being insulting. Maybe he was having a bad day but the customer service was lacking! read more

I can't give a higher recommendation to any business. I'd purchased a grill as a birthday present for my wife to be delivered in two weeks on her birthday. Then, without warning, she tells me she's going to get a new grill. Ay yi yi. While she was running an errand, I rushed down to Ace to see what could be done. Tony, who had helped me when I bought it, asked his driver, Gus, if he could do him a favor and deliver the grill immediately. I was merely hoping they'd load it into my SUV but they delivered it in 30 minute. That would never have happened with Home Depot or Lowe's. Checked out this store because I wanted to go somewhere different for flowers for my garden. This ones is also closer to my house than the other hardware stores. The store is small but is not over saturated with a million versions of the same product. I also appreciate that they have their own generic brand at a way lower price. For example, their small potting soil was 2.99 vs 4.99 for the brand name. They have a nice selection of plants and flowers at a great price. I was able to get nice quality flowers for a low price .99-1.99 for flowers for my front entrance. The bigger ones are priced competitively as well. I got the bigger ones for about 3.99. I like how they have specialist readily available that know about flowers to tell you which is best for your needs. They also have some flowers that I haven't seen at other garden centers including calla Lillie's and they were a low price as well. Finally they sell baby chicks for raising eggs. They are about 4.99 and I have never thought about raising a chicken for eggs before. I will come to this store more for my gardening needs. read more

Wanted to get potting soil and plants to brighten up the planters around the house for Mother's Day. I stopped in and was pleased to be greeted and assisted by the front store staff team. Chris in the plant department walked around with me and was very helpful in my plant selection. I'm from NY and our plants and weather are so different. Plant prices are very reasonable. Geraniums are a favorite of my husband and the selection was abundant. I found all the plants in great shape and pest free.Very good selection,very good customer service. Even though ACE is a chain of hardware stores, this particular location has a warm, friendly staff that seems to want to go above and beyond what I've come to expect at the big chain hardware stores. The employees greet you when you walk in the door, "Hi, welcome to ACE!" and within minutes of walking around the store, someone in a red vest usually has swung by to see if I need help finding what I'm looking for. A lot of times I go straight to the garden area - they have a great outdoor section which changes plants all the time depending on the season. But the few times I have needed help - to fix a hose, to kill pests, etc. - an employee has been able to hand me exactly what I needed with no uncertainty. I do think that their prices are a bit higher than chains, and their selection is definitely less, but with interesting seasonal stock, close parking, and superb customer service, it is worth the extra money to come here instead. read more

Sometimes the big box home improvement stores don't carry the parts or tools that I need, and when that's the case I will often stop by Ace Hardware. This particular store is located on Gunn Highway, north of Sickle High School, and in the shopping center at S. Mobley Road. It's north of Westchase and the Citrus Park area by 5 - 10 minutes. The store is not huge, but they manage to have the right size of socket wrench for fixing my car, or the right shade of gold paint to cover the stripes on your mailbox post (Helloooooooooooooo Westchase Homeowners' Association members!!!), or the correct type of sprinkler head to replace the one that the lawn maintenance guy broke off. I have always been a royal customer and always come here for any household items I needed. I loved this place due to great customer services and would give five stars ratings just about at all time until today the service was HORRIBLE. I needed a new mail box after the Hurricane and as I entered the store the cashier was too busy chatting with her coworker who was actually working. I walked slowly and waited for her to finish talking but they kept talking so I interrupted asking if they sell mailboxes and which isle after not being acknowledged that I was there needed her help. I got to isle where she told me, googled, and making a couple phone calls to my friends I was able to get what I needed to get my mailbox installed. As I approached the same cashier to pay for the mail box post and the box she did not even say hi. She looked at me like I was getting free stuff from her. She expected me to lift the big and heavy items from my cart and put them on her tiny counter so she could scan them easier.? Well kid, those are too big for your checkout counter! She appeared to be the laziest and provided the poorest customer service I have ever encountered. As I finished paying for my items she didn't even offer me a bag for my smaller item I bought and didn't even say "thank you!" Wow this is very sad that ace hardware hired someone this lazy when they are very well known for their good services. I spent $195 in 15 mins at their store and deserved at least a "hi" or a "thank you" as a simple greeting which we already do all day anyway but NONE. I didn't feel like she cared about her customers and failed her basic cashier skill. I would come back to this place again ONLY because I have had more positive experiences in the past except for my next check out it will not be by I think her name was Haley. I wish her the best in learning her basic skills because life is tougher out there than her standing there not putting in 100% for her herself, her employer, and most of all her CUSTOMERS! read more

I hate hardware stores. Typically very bigoted and condescending to women. These guys were so helpful and had everything we needed, so much so I had to write a review. Such a good crew at THIS location, very respectful and helpful. Chasing after a certain rare pipe part, I ended up at several area Ace Hardwares as well as several Home Depot and Lowe's. These guys earned my respect. Good, knowledgeable people. Can't say the same for all the other places I hit in the same day. First, I would like to say ACE Odessa, Florida a is great place. The pricing is high for the most part, but store lay out is very good. You find what you are looking for 99% of the time. I live near the location and love some of the employees and the Asst. Mgr. Tony. However, something has always bothered me about the way the staff acts when the manager Reggie is around. Reggie has waited on me a few times and can be abrupt, as if you are not buying the store out, he becomes short and attempts to be a little intimidating (Does not work well on a former drill sergeant). I witnessed Reggie not long ago, tell a man that there was nothing he could do about the loss of store credit and dismissed the upset customer even though he was not satisfied with his answer and did understand the reasoning behind the decision. I have even heard the employees complain about Reggie not working with them on their schedules and other problems. I am a Senior District Manager of a large retail service company, and i started asking some of the employee questions over the last few visits (as I do with my own position within my company) and found that Reggie does not work with the line employees well and delegates his job to the other managers. The employees related that Reggie is often upset looking and is always trying to leave to get to his gym. I was told by one of the salesman that one of the other managers got tired of Reggie's style and told him so and Reggie challenged the other manager to a fight. The manager quit. I cannot tell if Reggie was not trained in Human Resources 101 or just does not care. But if Reggie was my employee, I would remove him before he destroys the store and the employees. You have a great following behind that store in the area, but your driver is blind and has lost site of the basics, the customs, the stores reputation and the employees relations. read more

This store is great! The staff are all friendly and helpful. This store is a Stihl dealer. I went to this store and requested a Stihl product that they did not carry. The product that I wanted was ordered and on the shelves within days. I also received a phone call informing me that the product was in. From now on I will be taking my business to them. read more

I like Ace in general but this location, not so much. The guys that work in the store, the ones that know where to find things, are great. But the women working the registers are like robots - they have zero people skills. I just don't understand how the owner or manager can't see it - how hard is it to find help that understand the concept of being friendly? It's not like I'm trying to engage them in conversation but at least acknowledge my presence as I'm paying for my purchase.
