This is the worst lumber store in Tampa--hands down the biggest joke in the bay area! There's some…read morequack named Jeff who works here, and he's about as intelligent as a damp sock left in a gym bag for three weeks. This sleazy salesman straight out of a bad 1980s used-car lot answered the phone like I was interrupting his nap, got rude the second I asked a basic question, flat-out refused to help, and then--get this--actually snarled, "I don't plan on doing business with you" before slamming the phone down. Classy, Jeff. Real classy. I figured maybe he was having a bad day, so I called back. Big mistake. The lady who picked up next was somehow even worse--snottier, ruder, and twice as condescending, like customer service is an allergic reaction to her. She made Jeff look like a Boy Scout who just earned his politeness badge. Between the two of them, they turned a simple phone call into a masterclass in how to tank your own business. Service slower than sap running uphill in January, attitudes nastier than week-old sawdust, and an overall vibe that screams "we hate customers and we're proud of it." Jeff and his charming coworker clearly think running a lumber store means running off anyone dumb enough to call. Zero stars. I'd rather drag every board I need across town with my teeth, pay double at a real store, and build my whole project out of spite than ever give these clowns a single penny. Tampa deserves better than this sleazy, rude, phone-slamming circus. Stay far away unless you enjoy being treated like garbage by rejects from the Sleazy Salesman Hall of Fame.

If you're willing to roll the dice on professional incompetence hiding behind a "special order/no…read morereturns" shield, as a reason to be left holding $6,000 worth of garbage, head straight to Peninsular Lumber. Here's the backdrop: A client needs custom interior doors. They want Masonite 4 panel doors. Masonite is the door manufacturer; Peninsular lumber, the distributor. Masonite has about 6 styles of 4 panel doors. We turn to Peninsular. Can they order the 4 panel doors? Yes. Item selections directly from Masonite's website are required for order submission to Peninsular Lumber. Masonite's website advertises 5-6 different models of 4 panel doors, so the order requires the specific model directly from the website for the 4-panel door being ordered. Client also wants two of the doors to have glass panel inserts. The manufacturer offers roughly 10 different glass panel insert designs. They are differentiated by name. The client selects the specific 4 panel door model and glass panel model. We submit to Peninsular, with whom we have a contract via invoice. Peninsular contracts with Masonite. In Dec, 2021, I had phone and email correspondence with a self-identified sales manager at Peninsular Lumber, Phil. During the call, specified door style (C40), glass insert style (Mayflower) and door sizes are provided. Due to the fact that the door sizes were specific, I physically went into the store to ensure correct placement and paid in full. The sales manager created the invoice and I was on my way for a 12 week wait. In April 6, 2022, 12 of the doors were delivered. The 13th door is delayed due to water damage. All 12 of the delivered doors were wrong. From door style to glass inserts: 100% wrong. Not 1% correct; 100% wrong. Within 2 hours of delivery, I revisited the item details on the Masonite website against the fully-paid invoice. It was then that I notice that the invoice shows an order for 4 panel doors WITHOUT specifying the door model. It does not specify any model, only that the doors are to be 4 panel. Again, there are 5-6 different types of 4 panel doors. The invoice does specify the glass panel style by name, which was delivered incorrectly, nonetheless. I physically returned to the store with invoice in hand the next morning and spoke with Phil. He tells me he ordered 4 panel doors. I inform him that we did receive 4 panel doors but they are the wrong doors. I inform him that the model order was not specified on the Peninsular invoice. How is manufacturer to know which 4 panel doors to send? He asks what I would like to see happen, to which I inform him replace the doors with the correct ones. He responded that 1) he would contact the manufacturer to see if they will replace the doors and 2) the glass panel doors would be replaced. When I ask what the option is in the event the manufacturer will not remedy the mistake, he responds that a discussion with the owner is an option, though he would like to avoid that route. He will call me with an answer. The next day, I receive an email from Phil informing me that the manufacturer will not replace the doors, so Peninsular will not take responsibility since it was a special order. The glass panel doors would be replaced. It goes without saying that the glass panel doors would be replaced bc the model style was specified on the invoice by Peninsular. The door model was not. Imagine going to a car broker and relying on them to order the Mercedes you paid for. Now, imagine that you're delivered a Toyota bc the broker made the grave mistake of submitting for a "car" on the invoice, without specifying the order paid for was a Mercedes. Then, they holding the customer responsible. As a contractor, I understand that mistakes are made despite the best of intentions. That is, unfortunately, the cost of doing business. What is not acceptable is to displace responsibility for your mistake. That's not only bad business but it is an epic fail in ethics. Don't take my word for it, though. You decide.
