I was greeted at the door and assisted by a very friendly gentleman who took me directly to the light bulb section and gave me the exact bulb I needed. Debbie rang me up. My husband had a job out this way and we weren't really familiar with the area. This is the closest hardware store to where we were so I have it a shot. I walked in with my kids without masks. (They are actually following the mandate and only requiring people to social distance) I was quickly met by a nice man who asked if he could help me find something and he brought me right to it! He brought it up to the register and had it run up before me and my slow poke kids got there and we were in and out! I gave 4 stars because the price on when I went for was a little high but like I said, we weren't familiar with the area so I couldn't shop around. I would definitely recommend them for helpfulness and not judging or kicking us out for not wearing masks! read more

I went to get a hand gun. Not knowing much about guns I trusted them for advice. They sold me a used out of date model for more than the new safer model at Rural king. Now I won't buy anything else from this store. I don't like to reward unethical businesses. I have 9 rentals and a home and all my purchases will be from Lowe's. While I was in their store today I noticed about 20 different customers, like myself, ALL wearing masks. At the same time I noticed that NONE OF THE STORE STAFF WERE WEARING MASKS!!! As I was checking out I asked the young lady why none of the employees were wearing masks. She told me it wasn't mandatory. Having moved to this area about a year ago, I really loved shopping at Crowder and I do want to support small businesses. Staff were almost always friendly and helpful. Several months ago ( I should have written this sooner) I bought a squirrel resistant bird feeder which was completely ineffective. The squirrels had a great feast! I brought it back to Crowder and asked for a refund or some kind of concession. The gentleman who was helping me went back to consult with the managers and the answer he returned with was NO. When I restated the problem with the feeder - his only response was "We don't make them, we just sell them". Perhaps as a small business they could not afford to offer a refund, and they were not obligated to. But still they might have offered to inform the manufacturer, or even offered a small discount on my next purchase. An apology maybe? This sent a clear message, that they just don't care. UPDATE 9/4/2018. AT LEAST MANAGMENT REACHED OUT AND RESPONDED IN A RESPECTFUL WAY. HAS ME FEELING BETTER ABOUT THIS BUSINESS. Very disappointing experience with this shop today 8/8/2018. Called at around 12:45pm regarding wanting to get a pawn loan for some silver coins. Spoke with someone in pawn who said they would be interested in the coins. I also mentioned $ price I wanted for loan. Clarified he was interested in coins twice before hanging up and heading to shop. I got to this place at around 1:30pm and went to pawn desk. Was told by employee he remembers my call but it wasn't him that I spoke with.. He then calls the "big boss" to ask about these coins.. He was unable to reach this guy and then tells me there is nothing he can do with the coins since hes never dealt with them before.. Proceeds to apologize that his boss left and wont be back all day and he cant reach him on phone... I left my job on unpaid lunch drove home and drove to this shop for nothing.. Waste of my time. Wont waste my time again there's always another pawn. read more

Crowders has been my go to hardware store for years. The staff knows me as a regular. They're always friendly, helpful and convenient for the majority of my hardware needs. The hardware itself is okay. But the Gun Room sucks. They're very much overpriced. Their used junk is quite a bit more than Rural King's brand new stuff. I'll never go there again 4 guns. I'll just go straight to Rural King. Rural King on the other hand gets 5 stars from me. read more

Excellent selection of hardware and guns. Attentive staff that provide unbelievably courteous service. They even have a pawn department , that's usually stocked with really excellent merchandise. (I picked up three laptops , all in perfect condition, for a very nice price.) I've purchased a number of guns, new and used. The used guns are in great shape and quite fairly priced. Pawn Shop is a joke, not a place you want to sell your musical equipment. Their staff is ignorant when it comes to that sort of thing. They have to look up the prices on Ebay first. I bought a used gun from them, I was told it was in wonderful condition. I took it to the firing range today & it misfires!! The firing pin is broken. So, I took it back to the store & after speaking to Chris & the owner, they will not refund my money . The gun does have a warranty & it's gonna cost me $40 just to ship it. So, I could have bought a new gun for that price!! Don't shop there! Bad business!! They do not test fire any of the used guns they sell!! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I have quietly frequented this store for years and at face value, this store seems to be well ran. You are greeted as you enter and the store is relatively clean. I am sure this store serves the non-regular/non-internet user quite well for their heavily niche requirements, of which they are unable to research the fair price. I am not sure what it is or even who runs the store- i thought it was family owned and operated, but the feeling of disgruntled employees flying by the seat of their pants permeates the experience and their inability to convey the "how-to" you'd hope to find in a "Mom and Pop Shop" this store markets itself as. They also lean far too heavily on their location, and price their goods well above the normal price- the only real explanation for this is "If you want to drive across town to save a buck be my guest". Due to its having a gun/pawn shop, which I've heard from friends is also incredibly over-priced, makes it a hot spot for Spring Hill "scaries" who frequent the store and will probably scare the hell out of you as you're attempting check-out, that is if one of the "Knowledgeable" employees doesn't verbally accost them before you are able to leave anyway. Sending your child in to the shop for quick pick ups will result in them being followed around the store, never being helped, and possibly questioned for stealing. Over the years this store has gone from an enjoyable family location that served popcorn on the weekends and I believe even did some kind of community cookouts for a while, to a store that will scare the hell out of you and probably leave you extremely dissatisfied, slightly surprised, and completely empty pocketed. My recommendation: go to Rural King, its worth the commute for experienced employees, saved money on the same products, grander selection even, and hey they even do popcorn too. Although,apparently the St. Pete location does quite well. Maybe you can drive all the way out there. :) read more
