I've never been impressed with the quality of work that any visible changes provided when it comes to color. (Cuts, sometimes.) So when I made an appointment here after a friend's recommendation, I was still a bit scared. I paid over $300 from a salon in midtown for ombré hair so I was afraid of the chance they'd ruin it here. But since I didn't want to pay another $300, I decided to give it a go with Mari and Rene. Hmmm... well let me just say I've never been completely satisfied with a color. Ever. Until my visit to this place. (Who knew!) I mean idk bout other colorists at VC, but it's obvious that Rene had a knack for it. I mean... it wasn't easy to do what I was requesting because I've only seen celebs with the quality of work I was looking for and you'd never thought you'd find it in houston, nevertheless at a mall! Anyway, I had to leave this review because there's not enough search results for people who are looking for great ombré colorists in houston. Now with Mari and my cut, initially I wasn't in love and I though it was a rush job... but after my first wash, and now a month later... I fall more and more in love with it. Really... she gave me exactly what I wanted but I didn't know it at the time and now I feel kinda bad that I didn't express gratitude or satisfaction at the time of my appointment. The only thing I'd maybe take away half a point for the review is for the pressure to buy products. But I can't leave a 4.5 star review so hopefully the total score will even out the average. I am writing to express my serious dissatisfaction with the service I received at your salon. I visited yesterday and showed Paulie a photo of the hairstyle I wanted. He assured me he could achieve the look, but the result was nowhere close to the inspiration image. After the first attempt, he tried to fix it, but the second attempt was still unacceptable, and I was extremely uncomfortable by that point. I informed the manager, Lucy, who said they could attempt another fix but that I would still have to pay. Considering how upset I already was, I did not feel comfortable continuing. I asked for some sort of compensation and she took $30, which in no way compensates the mess of my hair. I returned today seeking a proper resolution, but instead of assistance I was met with a rude attitude. Lucy had another employee, London, inform me that the salon could no longer fix my hair. This contradicts what she said the day before, when payment was involved. The inconsistency, lack of accountability, and disrespectful attitude were extremely disappointing. The hairstyle I received does not resemble the inspiration photo at all, and the entire experience was distressing. For these reasons, I believe I am entitled to a full refund. I hope the salon will take responsibility and address this matter professionally. read more

She blow dried my hair like 80% and then she proceeded to straighten my hair wet with a flat iron literally wanted to cry but I hate complaining. Once she was done the top part of my hair still wet. Do NOT ask for Liliana she is very nice but does not cut hair well. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she did not deliver. On top of everything she didn't even dry my hair at the end so I had no idea how it turned out until hours later. Also just for reference they have "levels" to this. As in how experienced/long they've been with the company and she was def up there. But if you go, just go to a 1st level. I don't remember her name- but I Told her specifically not to cut the back of my head short short. I wanted longer layers. She might as well have shaved it - it is that short. I have been going to Jenn for over ten years now and she's the BEST. I am blonde and she does amazing highlights just perfectly. She is also very sweet!! I think Visible Changes is great I just wish they would have complementary hair blow dry after having color service. I mean you can pay extra and have your hair styled but I usually don't unless I have somewhere to go. For the money I spend on highlights I just don't like to leave with wet hair, plus the colorist can't review their work with wet hair. In other words, I spend approximately $150-$160 and still leave with wet hair. I don't get to thoroughly enjoy the excitement of getting fresh highlights until I'm home and style it myself. They do offer for you to sit under a dryer chair, but to me that's not a good idea. Nonetheless I'm still willing to keep coming because of Jenn. read more

I came in with blonde hair needing my roots touched up so I asked Marina to blend my dark roots using the Balayage technique to keep my root line from being so drastic and buy me more time in between color sessions. It wasn't until I got home and took a good hard look at my hair that I realized I don't have balayage at all, I have stripes made with highlights and lowlights AND my hair isn't blonde anymore. Went in with long beautiful wavy hair to cut more into a long bob but something I could do my natural wave or curl. I said I didn't like blunt ends but she convinced be it looks better but something has stuck with me. I told her I don't want a soccer mom haircut but she said it's about how you style it. I listened because I trusted her. We put our trust into people cutting our hair because they are supposed to know. Well I now have a haircut that is difficult to style and I feel absolutely ugly. If I try to make my hair wavy it looks like I am straight out of the 90's in a terrible way. I was supposed to be booked with someone who understands very thick hair, but it seems I was not. It seems as though everytime I come here I have to come back multiple times to get my hair fixed. The last time I went was absolutely the worst. I Ask the stylist to give me an ombré. She assured me she could do it. I went home that night and found it was was too dark and there was no gradient. I went back to days later and gave her a specific example of how I wanted it. She lightened up my hair but gave me highlights not an ombré and completely fried my hair. There was blonde bleached hair all over my bangs and the color wasn't evenly distributed. I went back a third time and she tones down the color but it was still out of control, I gave up and started braiding my hair. Visible Changes - Willowbrook - I called this morning to get an appointment for a blowout and was told that they only had an art Director available and was $50. I asked if I could get an appointment with anyone and the man said no they didn't have anything available until 4 o'clock which was too late because we're leaving tomorrow for our son's wedding. Showed up to my appointment on time waited for 15 to 20 minutes because the Art Director was late. she washed my hair conditioned it and then proceeded to blow out my hair. She completely turned me away from the mirror so I couldn't see what was going on. When she turned me back towards the mirror, I told her that I did not like the way that it looked and it was very frizzy and flat on top. I asked her if she could do it this way or that way and fix the top and frizziness around my face and unfortunately she did not do a good job. Needless to say I wasn't happy I went to pay and was told it was $65 and I was shocked because I was quoted 50. Even though I was told in the morning that there was not an available appointment until four my daughter got in an hour after mine and had a blowout for $25. How does that make sense? I asked to speak to the manager at the end and told her how unsatisfied I was. She even made a comment that yes I can see that it is so frizzy and ten she offered for somebody else to fix it. My 8 year old daughter had been begging to do something fun with her hair over the summer, and against my better judgement, I obliged. I would have been far better off dipping her hair in kool aid, a $85 richer (note $85 was for 3 inches of color and a blow dry, not a cut, for an 8 year old). Since she is a natural blonde, no bleaching was required to help the color stick. After the color had been applied and during the wash, the colorist advised she didn't think it would last very long due to "chlorine damage". Considering the color was already complete, it was a little late to back out of the deal. Had I known it would last only 3 DAYS, I would have never in a million years paid to have this done. About a year an a half ago, I decided to go blonde and thought that this place would be the best place for that. I have passed by many time when customers are being worked in and it looked like they were doing a great job. I knew i was going to need at least three sessions to get to the blonde level I wanted. First time, it was a new stylist and she was doing a great job, or so I thought. She left me a line across my hair that didn't get bleached. I went back and an expert fixed it. I wasn't mad, the first girl was a beginner and it got fixed. About 3 months later, I went back to the expert stylist that fixed the line across my hair for the 2nd session. It was good. Here and there, I had hair falling. I knew that was going to happen. It wasn't extreme hair loss, it was a bit more than regular but not bad and it stopped like 3 weeks after the 2nd session. About 4 months later, I went for the 3rd session. I regret that. My hair was almost to my waist, thick and a lot of it. I guess it was over processed. My hair started falling like crazy. I thought it was going to be like the 2nd session and it would stop but it didn't. My hair is thin now and above my shoulders. From my waist to above my shoulders!!! It was in a matter of maybe 1-2 months after that last session. I will never go to this place again. I had an early appointment and the stylist was late and I guess hated that she had to do my hair because she even kept on saying how much and long hair I had and would make faces. I've been coming to VC for a couple years now and they never disappoint. I've probably gone to 3 different stylists here and they were all friendly and professional. They sure know how to talk you into their products. I've bought shampoo/conditioner, serums, and hairsprays from them. And I still use these products today. I always leave happy with my new do! My last few trims/cuts have been with Klaris, and shes awesome!! FYI, bang trims are complimentary!
