The service is immaculate and the person I always book with specifically is the best hairdresser I've ever been to! I've had two horrible experiences here the last one was by far the worst! I haven't had my hair done in over a year I was pretty excited and left with nothing but a treatment and a haircut my cut was great but the women who was going to color my hair was so rude and stuck up it was unreal! First she sat there and told me how damaged my hair was then she had half the staff come look at my damaged hair (so embarrassing!) she kept saying she needed everyone's second opinion. Well after that I just told her not to touch it with color because obviously she wasn't experienced enough to make her own judgment she had to embarrass me instead. It was horrible I do not recommend this salon at all! But if you do go ask for Tina my sister loves her and she's been doing her hair for 10 years I should of went to her instead. Don't bother making an appointment because walk ins will be seen before you ... I was at VC for 4 hours !!! I got highlights and a trim ... After my highlights I sat with wet hair for someone to put a toner on me . And then I waited for an hour to get my hair trimmed and blow dried . When the hair stylist finally got to me she was rude , and didn't seem very skilled . To top it off she sprayed hair spray directly in my eyes !!! I ended up spending 200 dollars on something I wasn't happy with. I will never be back . read more

I want to start my review by stating that James does an awesome cut & style. He is worthy of 10 stars. If you are looking for a great cut, James is the guy! Unfortunately, James has lost yet another client due to colorist, Nicole, and her attitude. Getting my hair done every 6 weeks should be refreshing, yet I cringe whenever I have to go in because I know that Nicole is going to argue with me about my color. When you're spending a lot of money on your hair, close to $200, you should be able to ask questions and have your concerns addressed by the colorist, especially if you are not happy with the color. Yet every time I go into VC and I state what I am wanting, I am met with a defensive attitude by Nicole. Today was no different. I sat in Nicole's chair and she did not bother to ask what I wanted, how I am doing, nothing ... no conversation ... which is typical for Nicole. She is not personable at all (or at least has never been with me). Instead, after I sat down she starts sectioning my hair. So I blurt out "Is there any way to make my color pop more?" I did comment that the blonde is closer to what I want but the color, overall, is still very mousy. That immediately sets Nicole on the defensive, as it has the last 2 times I have seen her. Excuse me, I am paying you to do my hair, yet I am expected to just sit down and deal with what you can do. She debates the process that my last colorist did with me, as if she was there. My hair use to really pop with my former colorist (at another salon, who ended up moving), because I got low lights added. So I ask Nicole if we can do this and she says "yeah but you're going to make the hair darker". I get that, but I need it to pop so the blonde is more visible. Round and round we go. I really feel that it's just that she doesn't have the skill set required to do what I need, like my last colorist. This is not the only concern I have with Nicole. For instance, one time she needed me to put my head back into the shampoo bowl, but instead of opening her mouth and asking, she took her index finger and put it in the middle of my forehead and pushed my head back. Rude as hell. Honestly, the only time she is nice to me is when I am checking out because she wants to ensure she gets a tip. No, I'm not kidding. I have bit my tongue too long with her and refrained from writing a review about how I really feel about her (after all, she was still doing my hair and I was at her mercy), but enough already. I got up and left. I ended up giving James a $20 tip for a haircut I had booked with him today, because after all, it's not his fault Nicole is costing him clients (see Brittany B's review ... she, too, WAS using Nicole & James and she is the one who referred me to them). #byefelicia read more

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my hairdresser. He is the best... When I arrive, I never have to wait too long till they have me in the back washing my hair... then I am off to sit in the chair to get my hair cut. From the moment I check in they make me feel comfortable... I always feel like I am in good hands. I do have to tell you a brief story on how I found this hairdresser. For Halloween I bought a wig because I was dressing as an 80's chick... and my hair style is NOT 80's. So, the wig that I bought had bangs... remember the 80's? Well, the bangs were too long for me... so naturally I wanted to get them cut... what better place than to go to the mall. I ended up at Visible Changes... After them giving me the spill about how they really didn't cut wigs because of some liability issues... I let them know that it was just for a Halloween costume... and if it got a little messed up... I would be ok. So... they finally agreed to cut it. They summoned Angel... He came and got me... took me to the chair. I put on the wig... he cut it and it looked so good I thought... What the hell??? I will just wear it out of the mall. I was having a bad hair day anyway. When I got home... I took the wig off... got in the shower to get ready to go out for the night. I was meeting some friends for drinks. Anyway... When I started fixing my hair I noticed something was not right... OMG!!! I had bangs!!! When Angel was cutting my wig... he pulled my real hair out and cut it too!!! I realize that this may piss off some people... but I thought it was FUNNY!!! I did give him a hard time when I first saw him after the incident... but it was all in fun. And everyone working in the salon that day got a big kick out of it. Since then... I have gotten my hair cut and colored at this Visible Changes location... April does a GREAT job covering my gray... and Angel does a great job on the cut. The people that work the front desk are also always so nice... directing people to where they need to go without being really bossy. I do have one complaint however... on a busy day... be careful when you walk to your stylists chair... there is always too much hair on the floor and it can get pretty slippery. But even with that being said... No matter what kind of mood I am in when I arrive... Angel has me laughing before I leave. read more

While the stylists here range from poor to fantastic (you get what you pay for), the customer service really needs to be worked on. Twice I've had to sit with a wet head for more than just a couple of minutes. I don't feel a customer should have to sit with a wet head at all. Once it was about 30 minutes, this last time it was for about 10. I got fed up with this sort of service and walked out on my appointment (I'd already waited 20 minutes past my appointment time that day). I consider VC a MacDonald's of salons. I've been to other salons in other cities when I was in college and they gave much better customer service and the styling was about the same price and quality. I know I can do better. read more

He gave me a Phenomenal Haircut Experience and corrected the uneven areas that I desperately needed before I leave for 3 months out of the Country. He performs Remarkable Work with Expertise, listened well to what I wished to accomplish with him, and I felt comfortable to talk with Horacio because I found him to be really personable with a friendly smile. I have been getting my hair cut here for the last 2 years and pretty much all of that time I've seen Olympia. She does a really great job for me and I trust her judgement. As for the location, Visible Changes is located in the Baybrook mall near the food court. They have a ton of stylists and are pretty quick. I always make my appointment the morning of the day I decide to go and have never waited more than a few minutes once I got there. They take you back and shampoo your hair first. The hot towl is a little weird at first, it sort of feels like icy hot on your head, but its really relaxing before your cut. Depending on what stylist level you choose the price can change pretty drastically, however my haircut is only $24 and it's so much higher quality than going to a supercuts or some $10 equivalent. read more

Honestly, I dropped over 250 and wasted about 5 hours of my day on a shitty hairstyle that was no where near what I wanted. I wanted ALL blonde and they gave me GRAY and DARK BROWN HIGHLIGHTS. I told them multiple times I want ALL BLONDE, even showed them a pictures and still gave me shitty highlights that, top it off, weren't even blonde themselves. I finally was getting it dried and asked "will this ever even turn blonde?" And they said "yes as long as you buy our purple shampoo, it'll look blonde soon". I wanted it blonde NOW and I was not about to drop another 40 dollars on their shitty shampoos and conditioners. This was all on my birthday too so I was highly upset. I went to a local hair salon to fix the mess they made and spent less than 200 and it came out perfect. Wish I never stepped foot into that place. I have been a faithful customer of David Garza since 2010. I am picky about my haircuts because every salon or barber that I would visit would not satisfy my subjective needs. That is, of course, until I was introduced to David while he was at the Galleria Mall in Uptown. I was sold by David after our first meeting. He takes the time to get to know you and learn about your personality. He then spends about five minutes to exam your hair and head shape to determine what kind of hair cut would best fit your needs and desires. I followed David to Baybrook Mall when he decided to transfer. I trust his expertise and approach to his art/craft. I just show up and tell him to do his thing because we have an ongoing relationship where he understands that although my day job my require a conservative hair style, he can cut my hair in such a way that I do not seem or feel boring on the weekends. The only con is that I have to drive from the city out to the suburbs. I usually schedule a weekend appointment but do not expect to avail yourself of any traffic headaches due to traffic on I-45 Nonetheless, I highly recommend David! read more

They'll wash your kid's hair 20 minutes late and leave you waiting there for over 20 more minutes while all the employees walk around cluelessly. I would like to give Visible Changes 5+ stars. Every time I make an appointment I don't have to wait long. Kristen has done my highlights for a few years and has done an awesome job. I can show her a picture and she can pretty much get it to the T. Simone O-M-G what can I say about Simone but that I love him. He's has always made me feel like I've know him for years. Always really friendly and I can tell him what I want or sometime I just tell him do what you think would look best on my hair. He has never disappointed me. He has also done my girls hair and I loved how he talked to them as asked questions as to how they wanted their hair cut and styled. I hate when you go somewhere and they don't even attempt to talk to you. Another thing I notice today is they had a nice lady that was cleaning. She did an awesome job to make sure that everything was clean and pick up after everyone. As soon as someone was done shampooing she was ready to disinfect the bowls and wiped everything down. This was by far the worst salon experience I have ever had. I was at my appointment on time and surprisingly they brought me back immediately to wash my hair. The guy who washed my hair took about 2 minutes to wash, condition and then throw a towel at me. He was so in a hurry that he jerked my head back and forth and complained the whole time that he didn't have time for this... He didn't have time to wash my hair?! Though that was his only job, he only washed hair there... strange. Then I proceed to wait, then wait some more, then wait yet some more. I ended up waiting 35 minutes with wet hair. I paid for the stylist with more experience, therefore I paid more money. But they had me wait with wet hair for 35 minutes. I have really thin, fine hair, so by that point my hair was mostly dry. There were people that paid for the basic $35 hair cut that had their hair washed after me and they were seen well before I was even spoken to. Finally I got up to ask what was going on and they decided to move me to another lady, who was very rude. She literally spent 15 minutes cutting and blow drying, my already dry, hair. The final product looked nothing like the picture and looked exactly like the hair I walked in with just a half inch shorter. I have super straight hair, but she asked me if I wanted her to straighten it, so that she could style it, I said sure why not. She proceeds to tell me that will be an extra charge. Wait?! Are you serious?! I paid $70 for a 2 minute jerky wash, waited with wet hair for 35 minutes then spent 15 minutes having my hair cut, no rather trimmed, since it looks exactly the same, AND YOU WANT ME TO PAY EXTRA TO STRAIGHTEN MY ALREADY STRAIGHT HAIR?! I then said no I do not want you to style my hair, and I just wanted to get out of there by that point. But I cannot believe I paid $70 for 17 minutes of service, with NO STYLING. I do not recommend going here and should have waited for an appointment with my regular stylist/friend who is wonderful, kind, and provides incredible customer service. I guess this is a lesson to teach me to not be impatient and wait for an appointment that is worth waiting for. Visual Changes, YOU SUCK! By the way, Tina was the one who did my hair and she was rude, very unfriendly, and did not care about the way my hair looked. She is supposed to be a Creative Director (which is 2nd from the top tier if I remember correctly), but she has absolutely no skill, and even worse no care about the finished product. I went in with blonde hair and came out looking like a silver fox. I scheduled an appointment with one of their "top hair colorists." I requested a few low lights in my light blonde hair. I showed a pic of mary kate olsen's hair. A couple hours later as I'm leaving I'm quite certain my hair looks pretty dull and faded. However, with the extremely dim lighting it's hard to tell just what has been done to my hair. When I get home I notice I have silvery grey highlights that had bled all over my blonde hair. I was grey ALL OVER. Note- I'm in my 20's and have never had a grey hair. I arrive home and my family was shocked that I had spent so much money to be turned into a 60 year old woman. I call for a redye the following morning. They get me right in and do everything they can but after processing my hair even more I'm still grey. Less intense, but grey none the less. They did refund my money, so at least I didn't have to pay the $100 plus for the silver fox look. This happened almost a year ago, however, my hair is still broken and recovering. This experience is definitely a one star rating. I bumped it up a star for the one good experience I had at this place years ago. Btw- I believe the colorist's name was Maria and they told me she had picked up a shift at the Bay area location but that she normally works at the Almeda location. read more

I am in the industry and so I knew how overpriced T&G is. I opted for VC. Loved it! My stylist was Austin, he was super cute and had a great personality. He whipped my hair into shape, fast! This salon has a business model different from salons independently owned. Pricing is tiered based upon the experience of the stylist or colorist. Stylists do not color hair, only colorists. Prices for cuts can be considered high. Because you're receiving services from 2 different people, this will drive your costs up significantly. I came from an upscale market where I paid $65. My first cut with Tina was $85 and subsequent cuts have been $70. I experienced a lot of product pushing and as a result, was talked into buying products I ended up returning. Be very strong if you're on a budget! I decided to look for another stylist when I went back a week after my cut because my bangs were too long. Normally, this touch up would be a courtesy service at any other salon I've used. She ended up re-cutting my hair (not at my request), and charged me for a "full service". I had referred 2 new customers and now my business and the referral business are going elsewhere. I realized customer service is second behind profit at this salon. read more
