I've been going to this salon since 2022 when we first moved to the area and had no complaints. However the last 2 times I've went here I've had the same stylist and she does the opposite of what I ask for. The last time I was there I asked for my layers to be cut shorter because they were grown out and small bangs. The hairstylist proceeded to 2 pieces of my hair shorter than the rest of it making my hair look choppy and uneven. She didn't even cut me any bangs as-well. My layers looked exactly the same than they looked before just were styled. I never thought I would say this but i will not continue going to this salon which is crazy because I used to love it. I guess the new employees are just not as awesome as the old ones. The only pleasant part of my visit was going to the restroom because it did smell nice in there. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Riot Salon and would not recommend it. This is the first time I have truly cried over my hair. I invested $700 and many hours of my time over two paid appointments plus a correction appointment with the goal of a color transition to blend my roots and maintain my length. I was very clear about my expectations from the beginning, including multiple consultations, test strands, and discussions with the stylist to ensure we were aligned. Unfortunately, after months of appointments: * My hair is significantly shorter and thinned out, which was the opposite of our conversations * The highlights I paid for are not visible, and I have made very little progress towards blending my color with my roots * I was told I should use clarifying shampoo for a week before the highlights would even show both times I received color services at this salon -- which is unreasonable for a salon quality color service. They should be visible the day of service. * I am much farther away from my goals than when I started and it will take years for my length and density to recover The management offered only a partial refund (fully refunded the haircut) but denied refunding the color services that failed to produce any results. I communicated professionally and in writing and gave them the opportunity to correct the situation privately with a greater partial refund (I was still willing to pay for the stylist's time) but I was told they considered the color services acceptable. For transparency: I liked my stylist personally and I don't fault her character. My issue is with the lack of oversight and accountability from salon management. My case was tough and it involved complicated color correction, but at the end of this most recent appointment looking backwards, I do not believe I have received $700 of value from this salon. This is your typical hipster salon, complete with a boutique inside! I was required to do a hair consultation prior to booking in order to better capture what I wanted, however, a day prior to my appointment I received a text saying the stylist who did my consultation AND who I was booked for had moved out of state and I would have a different stylist. Since it was my first time I didn't mind. The girls there are super nice and they offer you refreshments while waiting. I will say the stylists there do have their IG handles on the website so you can check out their work beforehand. I could tell they're all talented. BUT the reason I gave 3 stars: 1. the last minute change only because it was the day before--how does a stylist move out of state without the salon knowing beforehand? Especially since this was my first time 2. COST--they charge based on the projected time it'll take to complete the service NOT services themselves (highlight, dimension, etc) like majority of places, so it's important to do a consultation and ASK THEM. To say I was sticker shocked is an understatement. I've been getting my hair highlighted/balayaged/re-toned for at least 10 years now and I have alot of long hair so the price reflected that. Also, they charge full price for a trim since "it's essentially the same thing as getting your haircut" according to the stylist I had. To say that I am not happy with my hair service is an understatement. This is my hair "fixed" from what they did to it the first time. Not only a waste of money but a waste of time. Definitely not a 300.00 service! I had to sit there in her chair not once but twice, with my hair processing the entire time, turning into THIS. After I had another stylist go find my stylist because she was nowhere to be seen, I specifically asked my stylist Karli, about my concern of it being splotchy yet she was overly confident and dismissive and said once it washes out it will all look fine but look at this horrible work! Also, upon reading the owners response, there was no return phone call from the owner. I never once "yelled" to speak to the owner, nor was my voice raised in any way, because I was very calm and polite to say the least. All I did was call and ask to talk to the owner, when the receptionist said she was out of town she asked to take down my information, I declined, I then asked if I could just call her when she gets back which they said they don't know when she will be back, very convenient for a business, so I asked, well is there a manager there I could speak to? And then their answer was "well the owner is the manager... " anyway never once did I scream or yell at a receptionist so this right here is a flat out lie pointed at a customer of theirs. Secondly, to have the business reach back out in this manner is quiet ridiculous. And what she is describing, saying " she doesn't know what I did to it at home, "she is speaking of her own stylists work, I wouldn't go and pay nearly 300.00 to go mess it up in my own at home!? 3rd, there was never any follow up on my hair getting " fixed" and nobody told me or notified me about their 7 day policy. 4th I have been on summer vacation and out of town for them to even be able to do anything about it anyway which is why I called as soon as I got back. 5, I did leave the salon looking that way. The stylist did not take any after photos so how would she even know. Yes I left thinking it looked better than the first time however upon further examination of my hair once home I saw how bad it actually was. I do not recommend this business. read more

Jasmyn was an excellent stylist! I've been to her twice now and have loved my hair every single time. I always pay a little extra to get the luxury cut with the conditioning and scalp treatment because it makes a huge difference. I showed Jasmyn the photos I wanted and she gave me exactly that! Update: my response to your ( owners) reply to my review. 1. Your stylist ( Carson) never discussed beforehand that it would depend on on how much my hair lifts. If that was the case, there's no way in hell I would have sat in that chair for 4 hours and spent $300 on my hair. Are you actually serious with that comment? After seeing the result I'm very dubious as to whether bleach was even used on my hair? So that comment dependent on how much my hair would lift is simply untrue. Maybe you should speak to your customers instead of getting your staff to deal with the complaints so you can get a true idea of events that take place in your hair salon. In fact, Carson and your team working at the front desk asked me to send in the photo showing how I wanted my hair to her Instagram page and to the riot salon phone number which I did beforehand. 2. I first told Carson I was not happy after she had finished blow drying my hair and said I wanted it lighter she then proceeded to give me a load of excuses in which none was discussed beforehand during my consultation. If I can also add she took a before picture but not an after. That should tell you everything right there. 3. When I got home I then called to speak to you, the owner, but like on many reviews previous where there's been issues you're never available it seems . I was calling to give you the opportunity to discuss what had happened and to request a partial refund at least because as I felt $300 for a very a inadequate service was shameful to take off a customer when they were told they'd be receiving something else. I told the person on the phone I wanted to give your salon the opportunity to make things right before I left a review. That wasn't a threat it was the truth. The reality is your solution was for me to come back in to fix the mistake your employee made which I didn't feel was adequate considering the amount of money and time I paid for an extremely poor service in the first place. 4.How I have spoke to you disrespectfully I have no idea where this has come from please explain. I simply told you and your staff I was unhappy with the service and went in to get a full head of highlights and came out looking no different. If voicing your complaint is disrespectful, then charging your customer $300 for inadequate service is equally disrespectful, if not more! Like I say I felt like I'd been conned yesterday. 5. You mention you offered multiple solutions You offered one, and that was to come back in and let you or your staff try and fix the mistake. I will never step foot back in your salon again. I called this morning and got an appt with Tara for this afternoon. I arrived 15 min early and was greeted immediately and offered a beverage or snack. Once I got in the chair Tara and I talked at length about what I wanted and my hair goals. Once we were agreed I got a nice shampoo and she started the cut. She talked me through the process and blow dried it. Once it was blow dried, I found what I had asked her for wasn't quite what I wanted (no fault of hers) so we talked some more and she made some changes and did a great job. She even flat ironed it to show me what it looked like compared to the picture I showed her. Tara did a great job, I love the hair cut, and i appreciate how patient she was with me. She is wonderful and fixed my hair so that I can style it easier and took some extra weight off as I have extremely thick and heavy hair. I've been thinking about how to write this review for a couple of weeks, because it always weighs heavily on me when I'm giving a negative review publicly, and I want to be sure I'm providing helpful critique and exact reasons for my negative review. First, I'll start by saying that two of my three appointments at Riot were done by incredibly competent and talented women. Jackie did a wonderful job with my root touch-up color and style, and my first lash appointment went well (aside from the 40 minute late start with no courtesy call beforehand and wrong sized lashes available). For those two appointments, I scheduled them on the same day, and specifically asked for the two services together so that I only had to show up to the salon once. They said they did this, but my hair appointment ended 2 hours before my lash appointment. I ended up leaving and returning (plus a 40 minute delay once I arrived for the second appointment, so nearly 3 hours between the two appointments...and I had to pay a babysitter for this time). Since this was only a couple of weeks after salons opened back up following COVID, I told myself that scheduling issues happen, and to allow some grace because these times aren't easy for anyone right now. I decided I'd stick with Riot and try again, because they did a great job on my hair and lashes that day. One thing worth mentioning, I gave the lash technician my exact sizes for lashes (been having them done for years). She didn't have those sizes available and said she needed to order more. So I had to settle for a slightly more dramatic (longer) lash, which I didn't like as much because I like more natural-looking. But she still did a great job on them. Her work was solid. About 10 days later, I got an email saying that an employee had tested positive for COVID, and the email had a link to click that would take me to a page on the Riot website to read the details about what the salon was doing in response and how they planned to work on prevention in the future. I thought this was great, because being proactive is key! I clicked the link. It didn't work. No problem, I'll just go to the website and search for the page there so I can read about it. Nothing. So all I have is this one email saying I was potentially exposed, but no details. Ok...not a huge deal, but file it away in my mind because this is strike two. On June 19, I show up for my lash refill appointment. I booked it with the same technician who did my lashes the first time because she did a wonderful job. I wait. And wait. And wait. 50 minutes later, I'm called back by a woman who doesn't look familiar. I assume she is a receptionist who is just taking me to the back room to get set up. She starts preparing lashes, so I ask, "Are you doing my lashes today?" She replies, "Yes!" So I explain that I booked with someone else, and she tells me that this person is "away for a couple of weeks." Referring back to the COVID email, I wonder if she was the person who tested positive, and I immediately remember how she wasn't wearing a mask during our last appointment. That said, I don't have symptoms and I'm fairly sure I never got COVID, so it's fine. My whole reason for mentioning this is that I was never called to see if I was ok with having someone else do my lashes (I would've preferred to wait). They just switched my appointment without asking, and then played dumb about it when I asked. On top of this, the second lash technician wasn't wearing a mask, even though they just had a positive case by an employee. You'd think they'd learn to take some extra precaution? The icing on the cake was that within the first week, half of lashes from the refill appointment fell off. And some were glued together. I get the Classic, and I don't wear make-up. I've been having lashes done for YEARS, so I know how to care for them and how they should look. The first appointment went well, but the second was terrible, so it had to have been something about the person's technique. I'll include a photo - there are FOUR extensions glued to ONE natural lash! I only ever get single extensions, so I have no idea how/why this happened. They came off in this clump. I asked the technician how long she had been doing lashes. She said 4 years. I couldn't find any of her credentials on the wall (but the woman who did my lashes the first time had stuff on the wall, so I'm not sure why there was a disparity). In about 6 years of having lash extensions done, this was the worst, by far. So, I won't be returning to Riot, unfortunately, even though I gave them several chances. I did decide to give them 2 stars, instead of 1, because my hair looked and felt great - Jackie did a top-notch job and I'm thankful for her services! But I'll find another stylist at a salon who values my time and doesn't run behind 30-50 minutes without calling, and doesn't reschedule people without asking, etc. read more

I recently injured my shoulder and could not wash/style my hair. I tried out Riot as it's close to my house and they were super nice. I even ended up having one of the stylists do my color as my hair stylist that I have had for the last 20 years is recovery from surgery. All good....until I tried to move my blow out from one day to the next. First mistake---I said I needed to cancel (just meaning I couldn't come tomorrow). The answer was a 50% penalty because it was within 48 hours of the appointment. But then when I said I wanted to change the date, I was told I could change the date for a 30% penalty. Seriously? I have spent almost $400 at this salon over the last 3 weeks and they are going to lose a client over a $9 fee to change a $30 blow out?? Then, when I emailed I was told they could tell I opened my emails so I must have read the cancellation policy. The irony is they said they needed to protect their stylists, but the stylist that did my color for $200 on Friday has lost my business forever due to their protection. I guess I am just used to a higher level of customer service and respect. Maybe I am too old (53) to be told I need to read the policies? I understand they may not want someone who books online to cancel, but I have booked each time when I leave for the next time. Too bad. Don't go there if you actually have a job and responsibilities and may have to change an appointment within 2 days (not a few hours). In response to the comment below....the only reason I was not charged was because I had to keep arguing with you. Shame on you. I didn't say anything about unprofessional. This review is a year and a half late but I wanted to make sure it gets posted so people can know how great this salon is. So, a year and a half ago and two days before picture day, my teenage daughter and I tried to color her hair at home. It ended up really really really bad. I called around and Riot was the only place that could get us in the same day. The lady, I cannot remember her name, not only fixed her hair but made it look a billion times better than it's ever looked before. It was way beyond our expectations especially considering how much we messed up my daughter's hair. I have to admit it was a little pricey at $400 after tip, but you get what you pay for.
