Both times they were able to accommodate me into their schedule at the last minute (I called the morning of), which I really appreciated. Jenny did my highlights and she did a fantastic job! OMG...Most Definitely 5STAR...amazing service from the moment I walked in. Friendly, accommodating and lavish treatment the entire experience! Sarah and Andrea colored and styled my hair today. I began with Sarah who did an amazing job and Andrea picked up with the shampoo and cut/blow dry. For the color, Sarah took time to to hear me and made the recommendation based on my preferences. Also, a worthy note that she prepared my skin at the hairline to assist in avoiding dye on my skin. The color was perfect and the conversation was warm and welcoming. For Andrea, the shampoo experience consisted of a chair massage, a blanket to keep me warm, a soothing shampoo and then the cut and style. She also, described each product she was using and the benefits to each product. Andrea listened and heard me describe the desired cut. She was precise and meticulous with every single detail of my cut and the blow dry, also taking time to ensure the finished product was perfection. When complete, she walked me over to the cashier and mentioned that Sarah would be by in just a moment. She took a moment to add product to my purchase by reminding me what products she used and only after inquiring on my current use of hair products. She made a recommendation on several products, and I made that purchase. In all honesty, I probably would not have purchased it because the product was from my perspective a little pricey, but she was genuine and sincere so I bought in. Anything is worth a try! I found out the hard way that Lavish Salon is nothing but a facade. They are promoting their different level of stylists (that they don't have) and paying far too much for their lousy services. When I contacted Lavish Salon, I was told by the Guest Corrdinator to choose a level stylist 1, 2, 3, or 4. That is not my job. Lavish Salon should have scheduled an appropriate consultation with a stylist so the (prospective) client can go over their hair and hair needs. That will determine the level of the stylist. I went over my hair and hair needs with the Guest Coordinator on the phone, and she recommended a level 2 stylist, Rachel. What are Guest Coordinators? Case in point, Facade!!! What are level 2 stylists' qualifications? My experience with Rachel was a huge disaster. Rachel boasted about her qualifications and training from Paul Mitchell and that she was an artist. Other than that, Rachel has zero communication skills. Let me state very clearly that I communicated with Rachel. I went over my hair and hair needs. I had actual pictures and pictures on my phone, and I couldn't have been more clear and concise. However, Rachel only heard what she wanted to hear and completely screwed up my hair. Rachel did not do any of the things I requested for my hair. Her answer was; "Next Time." When I disagreed with Rachel about what she had done to my hair, she ran off and got a level 4 stylist. That spoke volumes about her qualifications!!! Rachel should have been a mature professional and had a conversation with her client. Rachel did tell me that I am "High Maintenance and Picky." Bottonline, I am the client, it is my hair, I should be completely satisfied, I am paying the bill, and giving a tip based on that bill. So, if that makes me "High Maintenance and Picky," then I am GUILTY AS CHARGED. I've been having my hair taken care of for 40 years, and I know more about my hair than Rachel ever could. The final straw was when I asked Rachel to give my long hair a 1 to 1 1/2 inch trim. She chopped at least 2 1/2 inches off. Competely Unacceptable!!! I had a consultation with a level 3 stylist (and out of respect will not mention her name), and she pointed out all the problems due to Rachel. However, I was not overly impressed with the level 3 stylists' recommendations to fix the problems Rachel had caused. The level 3 stylists' recommendations would have only compiled the problems. In fact, I don't believe she has the qualifications to be a level 3 stylist based on our consultation. Rachel just lost Lavish Salon business, and based on my experience, I would never recommend them. Lavish Salon needs to take up the loss of a client with Rachel. Any response from Lavish Salon regarding this disastrous situation with Rachel is 100% superfluous. read more

This is a review I'm leaving for my mother because she doesn't have Yelp. I was visiting the Houston area and went to get my hair done with my mom. They made a mistake scheduling our appointments, so we ended up waiting about 45 minutes. Although it was annoying, we waited because we had heard great things about this place. After the coloring process, my mother's hair was orange and she was horrified. She had wanted an auburn brown color. The stylist stated that my mother could come in later so they could fix her hair. When my mom went back, the stylist got water all over my mom's clothes during the wash. She was soaking wet, so they said they'd dry her clothes for her. They made her stand in a supply closet essentially without her shirt (my mother assumed they would at least have something for her to wear). Unfortunately, I wasn't there, so my mom was awkwardly waiting for her clothes alone. Nothing was done to acknowledge or compensate for this experience. I can't believe they treated her this way. I checked-in for my noon appointment and went and sat down. At some point while I was waiting the manager came by and asked my name, I gave it to her and never heard anything else. Realizing it was almost 12:40PM, I went to make sure my stylist knew I was there. The person at the front desk went to check, then came back to tell me that they have a new system that had double booked the time slot and would need to reschedule my appointment. Why am I finding this out after sitting there for 40-minutes??? I made the appointment a month or so before, called a week before to confirm my appointment time, check-in at the front desk and then walk out 45-minutes later with nothing. I understand stuff happens, but don't leave your customer just sitting there. I wonder how long I would've sat there had I not gone up to the front desk?? And to even come by and ask my name, then no follow up? The new system wasn't the only lapse here. I've been a customer for a couple years, but I guess it's time to find a new salon. read more

I come here regularly to get my hair cut and colored. I really enjoy this salon - the ambiance is really nice and feels very calm and relaxing. I've never had any trouble with the service. They are very accommodating and will offer you anything you would like to drink throughout the whole appointment. The staff is very friendly. They don't try to push buying products on you, which is awesome because I really hate that. However, more than once I've noticed when I ask for the girl at the counter to add a 20% tip it's wrong. Which isn't a huge deal, just make sure to double check that it's actually what you asked for. I had Keratin Smoothing Treatment. I've done this treatment before in other salons and I know the procedure. I moved here and needed a new salon. The one who did it is one of their experts. While she was applying she was talking with another hairdresser who mentioned that her client didn't have good treatment because it wasn't saturated enough. My hairdresser said they are saturating hair more than before to have better treatment that lasts longer. I felt my hair was not close to being saturated but didn't say anything because, well, they are supposed to be the experts. One the first week it was affected by humidity. Not frizz but really messed up. The treatment didn't last a month. On top of that, there was more breakage and it got shorter. Trying the treatment was not only for smoothing. I wanted my hair to be healthier and to et longer. I was planning for many other treatments but that first week told me everything about their quality of work. Their cost is more than other salons but I was hoping for good quality but they did very bad work. Over $300 and it didn't even last a month and damaged my hair. I had better results and cheaper with home treatments I've done before. How did they have a rate over 4 stars!!! read more

Thank you Matt for my fab hair! I had previously gotten my hair done in Austin and the person did a terrible job. I didn't want to risk trying another place to fix it and remembered that the last time Matt did highlights on my hair I loved it. So I made time to see him when I came back to Houston. I came to him with a very brassy balayage and asked he lighten my hair into an ashy dark blonde. 5 hours later and that's what I received. He's so nice and really took time getting my hair to the color I wanted. And so did the team! They all helped with the process. I really wish I could give more stars for this place because the service and the salon is great, however my stylist made a fatal mistake, almost literally. I have always been hesitant about trying an Aveda salon because I have a serious allergy to tea tree oil, it being one of the prominent products. Which I have stepped into other salon and the smell of it is too strong that I just have to leave. I made sure to inform the receptionist of my allergy when I made the appointment and I stressed it again to my stylist. Which I was assured this was not a problem. I have a great experience while I was there and my style was great. However the headache that had been slowly creeping in hit me like a ton of bricks. I recognized the smell when I left and could differentiate from the salon. Guess what allergies get ready for tea tree oil! I had to rush right home and wash the poison off of me and throw meds down my throat. So the style was great but it was wasted money since I had to wash it right out. I just can't go back because a great cut and color is not worth a trip to the ER! read more

This is the only place I go for a haircut. The place is cute and clean and a relaxing environment, which is exactly what I'm looking for in a salon! The staff is super accommodating and will prepare you drinks and bring them over to you while you're waiting or getting a trim. My hairdresser is Ana, and she is amazing. She does a great job on my hair and gives me tips on good cuts and styles for my face. I only come in every few months, but she always remembers our previous conversations and my previous hairstyles - she never has to ask what "the usual" is for me! If you know me well, you know that the only gay genes I possess express themselves rarely, but obviously. One of those hinges around my unwillingness to go anywhere that isn't an Aveda salon to tame my big crazy head of curly mess. It's been this way for a while, and I make no apologies for it. I was spoiled in the town I lived in during college and stayed with an Aveda stylist there for almost 6 years. When we moved to Clear Lake I totally panicked and eventually found this place. My first stylist wasn't great (but that was 3 years ago and she's long gone now), but my second one, Ashley, has been a total dream. Let me explain: I'm a particular guy, and my partner is even moreso. We're basically straight dudes that'll work on your car, brew beer, grill red meat, and listen to metal...but when it comes to hair, you better treat me like a princess. Well, she does. For 3 straight years she's worked magic on this big ridiculous head of hair that I refuse to cut short and every time I leave it looks perfect. This salon has several awesome staff members that help out in a pinch too. Sometimes if you get there and they're running late, one of the other cool-as-all-getup ladies will give you a scalp and shoulder massage while you wait, and I've yet to have anyone that wasn't super friendly and laid back. Even better, my partner comes here exclusively now too and they've always been awesome about getting us back-to-back appointments so that we can come together and hang out. I'm fiercely loyal to my stylist, and I'm glad I gave this place a chance when we got here. I've done my best to convince all of my friends and acquaintances (and really everyone I hear looking for a stylist) that this is THE PLACE to go. The ones that have listened now believe me. One word of advice: This place is really busy a lot of the time because of the quality of work done here so give yourself and your stylist a little bit of time to plan out an appointment and don't be totally heartbroken if you wait until the last minute and they're booked up! read more

A friend of mine comes here regularly (she lives in the area) and has said great things about it for all the services they offer. So, when I saw Travelzoo had a deal for a facial, i purchased: $49 for an hour long facial, plus a 15 minute eye treatment, I thought why not. I've had tons of facials before, at a lot of different salons (my favorite is absolutely Sensia Japanese day spa/ galleria area) and knowing someone who's been here before, encouraged my decision to try. I showed up on time (appt with Valerie), assuming I would be there at least 1.5 hrs: few mins before and after facial to change, 1 hr facial, 15 min eye treatment, etc. To my surprise i was completely done and dressed in about 50 min. It was disappointing to say the least. The facial was just OK. Typical cleanse, maybe a couple extractions, mask, brief massage that wasn't very good (neck/shoulders), and the eye treatment was anything but. At the end of the facial, she basically applied eye cream around my eyes for about 60 secs...that was the 15 minute eye treatment. The salon was nice, receptionists friendly, as my facialist was too, but I would not have paid full price for that. I'd hate to think the service was lacking because it was a deal, even though I tipped 20% of the reg price, as usual with these things, but that may have been the case.
