So disappointed in my recent experience at Lavish. For reference, I had gone to this salon three times prior (two different stylists-- this was my third time with the same stylist). Two months ago, I went to Lavish for an all over color to even out my regrowth-- I had Mellissa, and enjoyed her personality. I explained that I wanted an ashy brown (no red) as I planned to go back to blonde in the next couple months; she talked me into at least a small bit of red to keep it richer, and since I had already told her I was going back to blonde, I didn't feel that I needed to worry as she clearly had a plan in mind on how she would do that (first mistake I made). Fast forward to this week, I pre-called twice to ensure that I had enough time booked and clarified what I was expecting to be done. This is not my first rodeo-- I have gone from a much darker purple-red to blonde before, have experienced every mistake in the book in regards to blonde, and have also figured out the magic steps needed to achieve it on my hair. I knew what to expect and my expectations were not unrealistic (at no point did I believe I'd achieve my final color, but I did expect to leave 'blonde' on some level-- whether that be full blonde highlights, balayage, etc). Mellissa seemed confident when I came in-- I showed her reference photos of my expectations, as well as photos of what steps I had been in the past after single visits so she knew how my hair responded to be lightened. About 40 minutes in, I was worried. She completed full highlights, and called in a helper to balayage the pieces left out.. except, not all of the pieces.. a ton of brown hair was left untouched. I asked about it and she told me she was worried that I would go orange, and she didn't want it to be as shocking if she did the whole head-- wait, what?! I'm taken to the bowl, washed, and toned.. the toner was left way too long on my hair as Mellissa started a new client, and promptly forgot me. My neck was killing me by the time a different girl was asked to shampoo me. Same girl then blow dries.. and it's a mess. What highlights you can see (not many) are this weird dark yellow/gold/ orange mess (immediately obvious that she picked the wrong toner, didn't process under heat, and didn't do enough hair)... my entire bangs are a completely different color than the rest of my hair-- they literally look like clip in's that an idiot picked the wrong color for. So brown and orange is what I got. I'm not going to pretend that I didn't start crying-- I'm a matron of honor in three weeks, and I look ridiculous. Mellissa immediately starts trying to justify (well you were really dark when you came in.. your hair has red in it (duh, she chose to do this)... I can make it lighter in four week (doesn't help). At that point, I got up and left and eventually spoke to a manager. She tried to rebook me (the Manager was very kind, I won't pretend otherwise) but the whole rebooking was weird. She talked up their color trainer doing my hair over in 2 weeks before the wedding and asked the receptionist to go get her; the color trainer refused to come out and wanted to talk to the manager in the back-- who knows what happened; if she talked to Mellissa and decided to not help or what. The manager then came back out with the name of someone else to fix it.. honestly, at this point I was so over it. I felt insulted, I hated my hair and was way too emotional about it, and I had lost all trust in it being fixed. I will no longer go to Lavish; and although their management was fantastic at attempting to correct the issues and make things right; their stylists, did not. read more
