One thing to note: a few areas lifted slightly orange, likely because the bleach didn't take evenly in those spots. He explained that we had already done two bleaching cycles and doing more would risk damage, so we decided not to push it. He also offered for me to come back so he can fix those areas, which I appreciated. If you've never gone from dark to light before, just know it takes time and patience. Good vibes there. I found Mary after seeing how beautiful and perfect my friend's hair turned out (she's actually on here as well, Cindy L)! Mary is the hairstylist you've been looking for your entire life. She listens and cares about your hair and will dedicate her entire day to you! She even goes the extra mile by being your Insta photographer to get you your best pics, heyyyy! I schedule appointments for my daughter and myself to get haircuts. I already get my lashes done here by Julie, she's amazing and does the BEST job! I wanted to dye my hair back to my natural black after a very disappointing balayage experience at another hair studio, and decided to come to Studio 8, close to home. They were able to fit me in the same day, and even accommodated me when I asked to come in earlier. Long story short, I had the best hair salon experience ever with Sarah. She was incredibly personable, sweet, and punctual. The entire process took 2 hours, and I felt she truly cared about my requests. Although the entire process seems very elementary (single all-over color), this was important to me. She answered all my questions & understood that I wanted to go as close to my root color as possible. We did two rounds of dye, timed at 20 mins each, and she was so punctual, I didn't even have to flag her down as I had to do in other hair salons when the sessions were up. This is such a minor detail, but I felt really valued because I saw how my own time was valued. I love how there was a 1 stylist to 1 customer ratio. After my color was complete, Sarah blew dry & took her time styling my hair. She even asked if I wanted to curl it, which I declined, as I wouldn't be going anywhere afterward anyway, but the thought of it truly counts. Overall, I really enjoyed my time with my stylist! I had such a negative experience elsewhere that this was a breath of fresh air. The entire studio is smaller than I anticipated, but so open, airy, and most importantly, clean. Yelp failed me this time. The girl I used for over 17 years traded in her scissors to focus on her children growing up. So, I began my search to find someone closer in proximity to me that I could trust with my hair. I don't have special needs hair. I don't color it anymore however, it is extremely fine...like, brand new baby fine. So, for the past few years, I just let it grow until I could find someone else. I turned to Yelp and looked thru reviews. I took my chances on the great reviews & made my appointment. It's obvious that the 20+ year stylist had no clue about hair texture. There are some things you can do to thick hair but cannot do to fine hair. The picture of what I presented vs. what I got was nothing close. I fully understand that stylists are not magicians, but I had enough hair to come close to what I asked for which could have been easily achieved with a trim & frame around the face down, not by cutting almost 5 inches off and "tapering" my super fine hair that left a butchered mess, then trying to curl it...when my picture obviously showed NO curl and saying my hair doesn't hold curl. I've always been a blonde and recently I dyed my hair darker. I wanted to transition back to blonde, but wanted that icy platinum! I noticed Tammy is really good at that; so I scheduled an appointment with Tammy after literally stalking her hair IG: hairbytammmy for months. She asked me if I had any hair inspiration photos, gave me a quote, and locked my appointment in. When I first got there, she was very welcoming, she greeted me with open arms and a hug! She asked me again what I wanted to achieve, told me the process, and got started! I noticed she takes her time, she used Olaplex, and she also used the Olaplex mask to help restore my hair. She told me I will need two process since I've dyed my hair darker. She was very knowledgeable and professional. She educates you about your hair through the process and gives you advice on how to maintain your color. I had little to no breakage and my scalp did not burn. First , I want to start off with the service. When I walked in , a welcoming young lady immediately walked up to me asking me what I was there for. When I told her I had an appointment she asked me to sign a disclaimer and offered a beverage. The space looks newly renovated and nicely designed. New and stylish chairs and couches. I came in for a color with Mary. She came highly recommended by my sister and her Instagram photos looked very promising. She consulted with me first , asked me what I was interested in , and set out a hair plan before we started. She was clear with the process and told me how long each Step took. She tested out my hair first to see how quick and effective my hair would bleach. One thing I noticed here is that they don't put you under a heat lamp when bleaching because that can damage my hair. The fact that this place had no beating lamps gave me the impression that they know how to treat and care for hair. Of course without a heat lamp, the process takes longer but definitely worth it if it means not "frying your hair". I'm in the restaurant business and service is key to success. My beautiful transformation took over 5 hours and Mary ordered pizza for me to eat for lunch. Now that's 5 star service right there. Overall , service is top notch , and Mary is a hair wizard. This salon is not a very honest establishment. If you get told to come back a second session, "free of charge" please be cautious. I was very satisfied with my hair the first session but was asked to come back "free of charge" with no explanation why. When I asked them if they broke my hair, their response was it was my baby hairs. I left my trust with these professional only for my hair to be broken and damaged. The situation could have been avoided if there was an honest communication. If it was explained why they asked me to come back the second time and communicated what they would be doing the "free of charge" 2nd salon visit, I would have had a choice to let them proceed or refuse the service. They were dishonest about their products they carry. I was going to purchase 2 sets of Kevin Murphy purple shampoo and Eleven repairing conditioner, however they only had one set of each brand available for purchase. They wanted a dishonest sale by telling me that another brand was equivalent, just to get a purchase. They will push for you to purchase the brand Eleven only because they are the only salon around that area that distributes Eleven. Be cautious and ask questions. read more

Do not go here if you have fine, straight hair. I went in two weeks ago with a bob which was uneven. While Thao was very attentive to detail, he just didn't get it right. He cut my hair wet, then blow dried it. If he had stopped then, it would have been perfect. But he said the longer side was still longer and kept chipping away at it. Guess what, now it's considerably shorter than the other side, and it creates a hole in the line of the haircut. All I can do is wear my hair back until it grows, not good! Giving him the benefit of the doubt, no one is perfect, I took my son in a few days later. He didn't even recognize me. I showed him a picture of my son's hair how he likes it, and Thao failed to deliver again. My son's hair is entirely too texturized, and it was very uneven as well. I had to cut one sideburn just so he didn't look lopsided. And don't get me started on the nape. My son wears a longer type of haircut, and likes the back a bit long too. WITHOUT ASKING, he buzzed the back very short. My son hates it! Thao may do a fine job if your hair is thicker, or has more texture, which in my opinion is more forgiving. We have fine, board straight hair which shows EVERY mistake. If that is your hair type, I recommend you stay away! read more

My hair is super thick so it took a long time to work with but she was very patient. My cut and color is great though I do wish I had asked for the two sections she dyed blonde to frame my face to start a bit lower on my hair so it looked a little more natural, but it will grow out and blend soon enough. Overall, it looks really great and a ton of people have complimented me on it!! The first pic is what it looked like right out of the salon in natural light and the other is with indoor light. I went to Studio 8 a few days ago and had Leidi cut my hair. She is an amazing hair stylist! She understands about different hair types and listens to what you desire your hair look to be. I usually bring a hair style picture as reference too. This time I want a mod light shag with curtain bangs, and Leidi delivers. Love my new hair! The salon layout is open floor concept, spacious and clean. Each hair station comes with a comfy seat and a big mirror, that goes all the way to the floor. This is a delayed review from back around Winter time. I was new to the houston/pearland area and looked all around for a nice reliable salon. This place was new and well reviewed. I do not dye my hair or have any treatments, just haircuts. So, I just wanted a place that would give me good regular haircuts. I had a great experience the first time with a great stylist (I can't recall her name). So, when it was time to get my regular trim I rescheduled online specifically with her. The day before my reminder text stated my appointment was with someone else even though my verification email had verified I scheduled with my prior stylist, I was working and the reminder was sent later at night prior to the appointment. It was too late to call in and so I responded to the message via text making sure I would get the same stylist. No response and no one had called me to notify me they had to change my stylist. So I did not want to not show up because they have a policy where they take a certain amount from your card if you do not show. I assumed they would not change my specific stylist I made the appointment for without calling to ensure it was okay with me... I showed up and I was put with another stylist. I stated I had scheduled with someone else because I liked my previous experience, the owner said she was out for finals for school and that he could take care of me. I was frustrated because if they had called and just asked if I can reschedule for when she was there I would have totally done that, but the fact that they didn't just goes to show how inconsiderate the customer service approach was there. Even though the owner had said he'd take care of me, the woman who started my shampooing ended up finishing the haircut and did not do 1/4 of the quality job my prior stylist had done (the one I requested). She was rushing and not really paying attention... I ended up leaving so frustrated and left with uneven bangs and then finally called later that night to ask to return to have them fixed (I have never had to do this any other place I have been). This place is 30 minutes from me and I drove an additional hour total to get something fixed that should have been done correctly in the first place and even after (because of how it was done by the new stylist) even when the owner tried to fix it I noticed my hair was not like I like it because it was difficult to fix after the fact. Honestly for the amount of money I spent on a simple haircut I was shocked at the lack of consideration for its customers. Especially for hair, most people are particular about who they trust and want to return to the same person. If there is a reschedule, be considerate enough to notify the client so they don't waste their time driving there, end up with another stylist, walk out unsatisfied, and have to return all because of your lack of consideration for their time and preferences. I did not return after that because they lost my trust after that service. I am writing this review to hopefully prevent someone from having the same issue and hopefully allow the salon to improve its approach with clients when there is a schedule change. This entire experience could have been avoided if their approach to the schedule change was different. read more

I'm so glad I picked Studio 8 to get my hair done! The atmosphere here is really comfortable and relaxing and all of the people working there were very sweet and really want you to feel welcome. Mary did a really pretty ash toned balayage on me and really took her time in making my hair perfect all in only one day (I had black Asian hair)! She also made sure I knew how to maintain lighter hair after it was dyed. Mary was also super gentle and caring with my hair and even gave me a trim to make sure the ends of my hair weren't blunt.
