Namely,…read morethat the owner(s) is actually knowledgeable on craft beer, so that they can consistently order good stuff. I have to say, this place truly knows what it's doing. Since moving here there have been all kinds of crazy top-tier drops: Cantillon, rarer 3F's, Fidens, Trillium, in addition to ongoing deliveries of highly rated beers (you're practically guaranteed to find a handful of beers rated 4.2+ on Untappd any time you walk in here). There's a good mix of local and non-local beers as well. I find it can be detrimental to focus TOO much on local beer. I also think they've nailed the size, both in terms of inventory and physical space, because product seems to move at an ideal pace. I've rarely come across too-old beer, which happens quite often in many beer shops. This is THE place to get beer in the area.

I think the location is the only reason people use it because it's convenient. Other than that, that's pretty much it, because it's small and they don't have much. They're also pretty annoying other than a few nice employees. I always use the same ID for my alc every time I go to an ABC store and even here when I have to. They always accept it, and I don't have a problem because anyone knows when they void a driver's license, it's voided for driving reasons ONLY. It's still a valid identification form. They only wanted to enforce it today because the manager was there, and it's pretty funny because it's a first out of the 20 times I've been there. They even asked my boyfriend's ID when they're only supposed to ID the person buying the alcohol and anyone else bringing anything up to the counter. A manager should know better. Maybe they need a better one. They don't have as much in stock anyways and always run out of everything compared to the one on 4991 Nine Mile Road. Go there, that's the better one!!

It's a great place for folks who live in the Bon Air area and it's not far from major highways, either. It's about a 20-minute drive from downtown Richmond. I stopped in before Yelp Supper Club -- held at an eatery in the same shopping center -- last night to see if they had any cool sours on hand. At this point in my beer-drinking life I know I need to have my Untappd app out when making purchases because I've tried so many varieties. They didn't seem annoyed that I was analyzing each bottle before making any decisions. In fact, both guys working were super friendly, not invasive of my space, and offered great recommendations. I purchased a six-pack of a local raspberry sour to share, as well as a bottle from American Solera. Looking forward to both! Their selection is curated well and they also offer growler fills. I'll definitely return if I'm in the area.

Then had the Bourbon Maple Brown Butter cake to close it out and almost died. The bourbon cake is ridiculously good and intense, you WILL taste it. Overall, they deserve more than 3 stars, whoever rated less than 3 stars is insane.

Bartender was probably the busiest staff member, and he ran his bar efficiently, and with a smile. Overall the place just had a good, friendly vibe. If I have a critique, and I do, it's that the ranch served with the wings is pretty bad. I'm a bit of a ranch snob, and I didn't dip after the first wing. The brussel sprouts, however, were fantastic. Crispy without being burnt. Not too much Parmesan or balsamic glaze. The location isn't in my usual area, but I'll likely be back for a game, a beer from the absurd selection, but maybe I'll go blue cheese with my wings next time around...
