I have been a loyal customer of VIP for several years and have been satisfied with the VIP treatment I have received until I discovered the real reason for my satisfaction. As my aging vehicle began to need repairs the service technician would discuss the needed repairs with me. He always presented the condition of the car in three parts--safety issues, which had to be done immediately, items that will eventually need repair, and those items that are discretionary. And as my car has passed the quarter million mile mark, he is now keeping me abreast of the total condition of the car, so that he can advise me when I need to consider purchasing another car. As a woman who relies on her car for her living, my service technician has become a valuable asset to me. When I make my appointments at VIP, I always ask for Pat, who always greets me with a smile and with his professional approach gives me the confidence that my vehicle is in good hands. Before I came to VIP I did experience service writers who tried to sell me service that I did not need at the time and service technicians who charged me for bogus diagnoses. In dealing with Pat I always feel confident that I am fully informed of my vehicle's needs, and I am paying for exactly what my vehicle needs. And when repairs and maintenance are completed, I am convinced that I have received the best deal for the life of my car. read more

After bringing my vehicles here for nearly 13 years, today they lost my business. I brought the car in for a specific issue - they said they diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I paid over $1000 for the fix. The problem remains, they cannot fix it, and they refused any refund. Quality of service has declined here - if you live in the area, I suggest looking elsewhere. read more

I have had both good and bad service here. Most recently, bad. My guess on this variability is that it depends on which mechanic you get. I brought my F250 for AC service June 17 2024. They had previously replaced the ac compressor in August 2022 so I figured that since I had less than two years of operation, they might be more familiar with the system and the repair. Furthermore, on the off chance, the compressor failed again, some of the O'reilly AC compressors VIP uses have warranties (lifetime??) that are in excess of the time since the previous repair. The text from the service manager and subsequent interaction informed me that the orings from AC lines to the compressor were leaking. Now I would assume that if the orings (plural) fail on a compressor install that something is amiss; either due to type, quality of orings or the install. They wanted to charge me $608.40 for replacing the orings and servicing the AC. ("we won't charge you for the orings---just for the labor-- haha) I told the service manager that I was not happy about the fact that their previous install/repair failed so soon. I said that orings should last longer than they did. The service manager belittled me and said "Orings last as long as long as they last" and "Oh--do you think you know more than me (about orings)?" He then rudely threw the key towards me on the counter and said disdainfully "you are all set" I said "you are not going to charge me?" "No." So I went out to the truck, started it and drove home and guess what ? The AC doesn't work! So they didn't charge me...... for not fixing it!! What a deal!! They wasted my time, didn't fix the problem and treated me rudely. Now I was not wanting/expecting a free repair, but was expecting: a) That it be repaired b) Assurance that it would not fail again So the failed fix showed that whatever "high-horse" attitude the manager was demonstrating , had no justification. read more

Was very excited that I got an appointment the for the next day for a rim swap. I got new tires for my Jeep Wrangler from another shop and they did a shitty job balancing my wheels and the alignment. I decided that I wanted to get new rims and did not want to go back to the shitty tire shop. So I took a risk and made an appointment for here and I was not disappointed. I got a fair quote and they did not try to sell me any "extras". They only thing they charged me extra for after the fact was my TPMS sensor but, Justin did warn me that he might have to charge more for the TPMS depending on my Jeep's system. Justin even stayed later for me to ensure I could get my Jeep back that night versus waiting till the morning. I will definitely be back when I need services for my Jeep. read more

They tried to replace my steering rack. Guess what, doesn't need that whatsoever. Which I new already I let it go, canceled the appointment a few days later. It's been over a week and no call asking why I canceled. I also heard overheard something else that just doesn't sit right. That being said, get a second opinion on ANYTHING. Or just go elsewhere. Recently took my vehicle here for the first time to get a second opinion after bringing it to another local garage. They found similar issues that needed attention before I would pass state inspection but there was one big difference between the two garages. The first garage gave me a quote that was a couple hundred dollars more than VIP did and they also charged me $50 for an inspection sticker right Then without even doing the inspection and then said their company policy is you have 10 days to fix all of the issues they informed you of and if you don't fix everything by then and return to them for the sticker, you lose the $50 and leave without a sticker. VIP didn't charge me anything upfront and then once they reviewed the issues they found when they inspected my vehicle they put my new inspection sticker on for free and also gave me a military discount after I inquired about it. When all of the work was done and I showed up to pick my car up and pay for everything I saw that the exhaust issue I had fixed was now a couple hundred dollars more than the original quote and when I asked about it, the gentleman adjusted it back to the original quoted price without question and apologized for the mistake. This was by far the best mechanic experience I've ever had and I plan on retuthing for any future repair, as well as recommending them to all of my family and friends. The staff is extremely accommodating and provides great customer service and answer all my questions thoroughmy. I am still so glad I got a second opinion!!! read more

Brought our trunk in for an oil change and soon after it began leaking another liquid. My husband opened up the engine to find they left a drill under the hood... we brought it back in to get the leak looked at and they insisted nothing was wrong and there was no leak. We brought the car home and it was clearly still leaking, we brought it back yet again with picture of the leak and the team still insisted there was not one. We brought it home and it immediately leaked. We brought it to another local garage and they found the issue within minutes. read more

I've had countless bad experiences here including one time where I went in for an oil change and they left my radiator hose hanging out of my hood with the trunk closed on it and I only realized after I got home. Update: We were contacted by the district manager again named John. His demeanor is less than professional. Scott has requested that all communications go through me. I informed John that we do not want Scott's blood pressure to be raised by dealing with this more than frustrating issue. John refused to honor Scott's request and proceeded to hang up on me and call Scott's phone. Scott handed me his phone, again asking that I speak on his behalf. Rather than honoring this medically related request, John has continued to insist on speaking with Scott. This company is now clearly showing a blatant disregard of their customers health and it's becoming painfully evident that this company has no real concern regarding their customers. John insisted on trying to over talk me during the entire conversation despite asking politely on several occasions that he allow me to speak and clarify the situation. I truly hope that the corporate offices read this plea for assistance to rectify this issue without putting further stress on their customer who he and his wife has been loyally buying tires from for years. The way he is being treated is outright wrong and any business that truly cares for their customers would not tolerate this type of behavior. Please help us resolve this without having to push this further. Simply own up that a mistake was made, and rectify it. read more

Bought tires at Tire Rack and they recommended this as one of the places to have my tires installed. Their install costs were the cheapest of the area selections. I know why now..... 1.) Never called to let me know the vehicle was ready. Had to call at 5:45PM to see what the status was and was told "forgot to call you, car was ready hours ago." 2.) Treated my vehicle like a Junker while fixing their mistake putting tire covers on after they forgot when I went to pickup the car. They had placed in plastic bags and when I noticed they couldn't find the bags I ordered for the tires they seemed pissed. I found them on a pile of tires that were in a corner. They told me they were going to take the car around back to "rebag" them. That was not the case, some guy did it in the parking lot and the lack if respect for my car was utterly disgusting. 3.) Car was not riding well AT ALL and when I called to complain they told me to come back in. Felt like the tires were not properly balanced. 4.) Called to get a status and the same BS as #1 where they forgot to call and the car was ready at 12PM. I asked what the "fix" was and they told me they were having issue with the balancer so that is why it was off from the first visit. 5.) Never apologized and never offered any time of credit from the first visit that was not as expected and created an unpleasant riding experience. If you are willing to pay more and travel to Plaistow I would suggest Quick Stop and Pierre. He is WONDERFUL!!!!! ---- Their reply is generic and doesn't apply to my review. Crooked business. Bought a set of tires this summer from Tire Rack, and only went to VIP because they are a recommended installer; which means they have taken Tire Rack's Price Pledge to install tires at an pre-agreed, fixed price. However, they refused to honor that agreement, planning to charge me six times more per tire. I suspect they quoted me an exaggerated price to discourage people from buying from Tire Rack. Only after I contacted Tire Rack, who then called VIP directly, did they agree to honor that agreement. After getting home, I looked at my bill, only to find that they had tacked on tire insurance that was never discussed, never agreed to, and for which I was never informed. I returned later, told it was a mistake, and was then refunded. Went back last week for another set of tires, this time bought from VIP. Being trusting, I again went home only to notice that they had again billed me for tire insurance that I was never told about. Also, they billed me for the tire installation, which they advertise as free with the purchase of new tires. Went back today to discuss my bill, as I was supposed to have a third set of tires installed on another car, and the assistant manager had the gall to tell me he had told me about the tire insurance when I had called weeks ago to order the two new sets of tires; a complete lie! I have never, and would never, pay for tire insurance - and doubt that he world have remember such a discussion, had one occurred, after this much time. It sounded like a rehearsed lie they tell customers when caught adding this charge. When I asked about the other additional charge for the tire installation, he told that this is never free at VIP (remember, this is the assistant manager, and that they advertise free installation with purchase; as does pretty much every tire shop in America!) after which he looked to his manager Justin for help. Justin's response was that "the installation was free, but the charge is for balancing". The bill specifically states the service charge was for "tire installation" (I am sure they would have a separate code if someone came in requesting only wheel balancing). There is no reputable shop that would ever install new tires without also balancing them! This again appeared to be a rehearsed lie! Their website also advertises free installation of headlights bulbs if the bulbs are purchased from them. Last week, I was going to have them do just that on my other car, but was told they would charge me an hour of labor, so decided to replace them myself. No big deal, but they advertise that it is free! There are a lot of things that VIP says they do for free; on their website and especially on their direct to customer emails. My wife and I initially wondered why they would do this (and it was one of the reasons we planned to buy these last two sets of tirés from them instead of Tire Rack). The answer is that they don't; it's a institutionalized ploy to get you in the shop, after which they are trained to rip you off and lie if caught. I plan to go back to Tire Rack for the tires I was supposed to have installed today, and use a different installer in the future. Unfortunately, the first snow storm is predicted today and I will now not have my winter tires on for at least a week. Should you ever go to VIP, please review your bill before you sign it; better yet, find an honest private garage. read more

I had been a customer of VIP many times in the past with zero issues up until this last time. I'm a female 27 years old, I walked into the store and the guy at the register immediately seemed upset for some reason. He was on his phone, with his mask off sitting on a chair.... It seemed like a burden for him to get up to even help me out or ask what I needed. I told him I needed a car inspection and he was sighing and being SO rude!!! I ended up telling him... "never mind, I'm going to go somewhere else!!" He was that rude.... I've never felt so disrespected ever going there and I will not be returning! Brought my sons car in for 2 new tires. I made an appointment. ThEy told me it would be an hour or less. Finally 2 and 1/2 hours later they were finished however they proceeded to tell me that I needed extensive repairs done on my ball joints, axles, etc. to the tune of $1400. They told me it was really bad and I should have it done ASAP. Brought the car the next day to my own mechanic, everything they told me was wrong was NOT !! This was a total sham and I will never take my car or cars let alone buy an air freshener from these guys!!! read more

At any rate, every time I've been there they've offered me great service at competitive prices. They even held my winter tires for me for an upcoming appointment. Quick, Honest and Helpful. So my car wouldn't start over the weekend while I was way up in Northern NH. Granted it was -13, but when I did get it going with a jump, the "check engine" light stayed on. I figured it was because the battery was 5 yrs old and I needed a replacement. Made an appointment and they checked the battery for free, said it was perfectly fine, and offered to put a new one in but said I really didn't need it. Checked the code and reset the engine light - all for free! I'll absolutely get a new battery from them (and other stuff that may pop up) once I really need it from these guys. Had a great experience here. I was in a bind, and needed 4 new tires quickly. Justin went above and beyond to get the exact tires I needed and scheduled me for the next day, first thing, to ensure I could get back on the road to attend my cousin's wedding. I should also note, I called him the night before, close to closing time. He had to get the tires shipped up from a local warehouse. This place is the reason why people distrust mechanics. While the price for a state inspection was cheaper than many others in the area, it doesn't make up for the fact that they said my car failed inspection and conveniently tried to tell me it needed nearly $1,500 worth of work done to have it pass. As someone who just moved to NH from MA and had recently gotten an alignment, tire balance and rotation, I took it to a different mechanic for an additional opinion. He said the car passed an inspection with ease and there were no issues. Not only would I not recommend this place to anyone, I would caution anyone who doesn't speak fluent car jargon as they clearly try to take advantage of people. They will never see another DIME from me. Summary: They took one look at me, a young woman, and took advantage of the assumption that I know nothing about cars. They over charged me, performed services that I did not need/ask for, they lied to me about what needed to be fixed, and they missed something huge that needed to be fixed. I had a skip in my engine and I brought it to them to fix. They charged me almost $600 to replace a coil and a plug... The labor was so expensive because they "had to take my intake off". I let them do the work, and then I brought my receipt to my father-in-law who used to work on cars. He said that they charged me an additional $200 in services that were unrelated to my problem, and I did not need to get done. He said never to bring my car to them again unless its an oil change or an inspection. Since they are so close to where I work, I brought it to them for my inspection. They failed me because of a rusty running board, my rear brake shoes, and my driver's side sway bar. They said the brake shoes alone, after parts and labor, would be about $400. Also, they were going to charge me $98 for an hour of labor to take off my running board. I told them not to do the work and I'll figure it out at another time. When I showed up, I ripped my running board off myself in less than a second since it was so rusty. I was immediately angry that they were going to charge me an hour of labor. Then, they would not give me my old sticker back, even though my car would have been legal to drive for another two weeks. I brought it to a different place near my house that got good reviews. They also failed me for the driver's side sway bar. They showed me that my fuel tank straps were rusting off and falling apart, which VIP missed completely. And they said that my brake shoes are good!!! Save your money. Save your time. Save your car. NEVER GO TO VIP. read more

Went in to have a simple fuse replaced. When the technician gave the car back he mentioned the check engine light was on. I questioned that as it wasn't on when I arrived that morning. I was told it would cost more money to run "diagnostics" to understand why. I spoke to the 'manager' Justin regarding this as I found it coincidental a fuse was replaced and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on - didn't make sense to me. Justin was rude, combative, and told me "if I'd listen " he would "educate me" on my car. He was hostile, condescending, and a bully. As I was leaving he also hadd to get the last word in by saying 'I hope you have a better day". I then took the car to Graham Auto who took one look at it and said it happened when the new fuse was replaced and fixed it in 2 minutes. Do yourself a favor and don't trust these people - everyone in the lobby waiting also got a laundry list of "preventive" maintenance thay should be done that day. It all about $$$ for this place. I've been here a few times in the past couple of months with two different cars. The first thing you notice is the HUGE "menu" on the wall behind the service counter listing all possible services and their prices, very refreshing. no more dropping your car off and wondering "how much?", everything is very upfront. The store is laid out in big isles, things are clearly labeled and easy to find. The staff is super helpful and friendly. I recently had an oil change and a battery replaced. The waiting are was clean, coffee machine, TV and small table with chairs for children. The estimate of how long my service would take was on the money and a staff member came out to tell me when they were ten minutes away from being done so I could pay and be out the door. Not many people in the waiting room nor did I see many folks coming into the counter area. I think the car was done sooner and the mechanics and front desk got some wires crossed. I just went into the vip stratham for an oil change and tire reaction. Before i went in i marked all my tires with different colors of nail polish and took pictures. I sat in the waiting room for over an hour, they brought my jeep back out said i was all set. I went to the parking lot and checked my tires, they never rotated them, i went back in and asked to speak to the manager, the guy at the deck went out back to get him, he came back and said he was on lunch and wouldn't come talk to me. He then said that the technician said he did rotated them, i said no he didn't and he continued to argue with me, i said i marked them and took pictures and that they were still in the same spot, asked him to come outside and look for him self. I again asked to speak to the manager and we would not come talk to me. The technician came out said a d said that he did rotate them, i showed him the pictures and said clearly you didnt. He took my jeep back out back and rotated the tires only front to back NOT side to back side. I never went back in the store and no one ever came out side to speak to me, the technician brought my jeep back ans said sorry. This is NO way to do business, say you do a job charge people for a service that wasn't even done. I dont like how that store doesn't have a window like other vip stores do. I recommend you put in a Big tv so people can watch their cars being worked on. I am very upset over this a d will never be back! read more

Went in for an oil change and tire rotation, seems simple enough right? I marked my tires myself before going in to ensure they were properly rotated. After they completed the service I checked and come to find out they never moved the front tires and back tires switched sides...I asked the manager about it and he began to raise his voice very defensively. I asked him if I could show him where I had marked them and all he could say is, " I watched them while I smoked my cigarette". Horrendous customer service. Will never be back. read more

Came into to have a AC compressor changed out. Justin,Jordan and Joe are always great. After waiting for my car after hours on a Saturday the mechanic was rude, and unruly. I spoke with management about this and have asked numerous times if the tire rotation and oil change had been done on my car, as the mechanic was just utterly rude and swearing at me because he had to stay late at work and the AC compressor was kind of a pain to put in. However this does not give the machine the right to swear at me or be rude and unruly. I also want to add that I had a flat repair done on new tires as I had a piece of glass in the rear driver side tire, today I went in because my TPMs light keeps coming on and found that my sensors need new gaskets after asking Jose about the patch in my tire I was told the person who rotated my tires on the Saturday they did my AC compressor he moved the tires straight from front to back and did not cross the back when putting them on the front. I would give Justin, Jordan and Joe five stars for everything. The mechanic is the reason for the two stars. read more
