I paid $125.00 to diagnose why my spa was not heating. The tech tested the heater relay board and there was no power going to it. He called Tiger river spa and confirmed that it was the board. The board goes for $169.07. You can purchase it on Amazon or many other sites for the same price. Jeff wanted $450.00 for the board and $850.00 for a pressure switch and sensors. Plus $275.00 for labor. First of all, I just needed the heater relay board. That was confirmed by the dealer. I asked Jeff why he was charging me 3 times the amount of the board? I do not mind him making a little profit but, at that point I felt that he was just ripping me off. He reply was that I needed a motherboard as well. That was a lie! He was just adding more things to increase his price on items that I did not need. Please beware! He is a scammer! I ordered the relay board on Amazon. I installed the board myself and my spa is working fine! If you want to be overcharged, then go with VIP pools. I would have paid him do all of the work if he was reasonable but, to quote me these prices on items that I did not need was insulting my intelligence. Also he wanted all of the money up front! I do not pay anyone the full price until the job is done. He also wanted me to pay for the diagnose fee before he diagnose the problem. I would not agree to that. read more

Jeff agreed to install a new, in the box Sta-rite pool heater for $495. At the time of installation, performed by Joseph, the installer refused to use the instruction booklet stating "I do this all the time". After connecting all the lines (gas, plumbing and electrical) it would not power up. The installer tried troubleshooting (again without use of the manual) and found a blown fuse. He tried to replace it but it blew too. The installer alleged that the unit was defective. It was purchased from In The Swim not some random used or refurbished reseller. I spoke to Jeff to discuss the assessment of his installer and we agreed by phone that I would have someone come check the unit and if it was deemed installer error he would work with me on resolution or refund. I paid him via zelle based on good faith. Leslie's service to perform technical diagnostic inspection on the heater immediately observed the voltage connection was wrong, which would cause catastrophic failure of the unit. The confirmed the electrical components were damaged beyond repair. This service charge was over $233. As a result of the installers error, I'm now out the $495 paid to Jeff, The cost of the technician $233 and $2,347.69 for the heater which is now worthless. In addition to the $3,075 and will now pay $5,113 for a licensed, reliable service company. Jeff has refused to respond or communicate with me and has refused to refund anything. Jeff Podrouzek and his installer Joseph Poccio have been unprofessional, deceptive and caution should be taken before dealing with these folks....get a licensed and insured contractor! read more

I contacted VIP Pool & Spa after Yelp recommended them as one of the "Best pool cleaners in Las Vegas". As can be seen from the attached images my only need for a professional pool cleaner was to remove the bumpy, brown substance from the sides of my pool and the underlying ugly dark brown stains that covered all four sides (I didn't need a pro to sweep out some leaves and mop up a thin dirt ring around the drain). I was told that since "every pool is different" I would have to wait and see the results of their "chlorine wash" to determine if enough stain was removed to avoid having to paint the pool - which Jeff, the owner, said they would do for $1,200. As can be seen in image #2, after the SECOND "cleaning" was completed virtually NONE of the stain was removed! The first wash resulted in a 5 foot corner section where the crusty brown stuff had been removed but mostly still remaining everywhere else. The stain was completely unchanged. After finding that the stain could be reduced slightly with scouring powder, and that the crusty brown material was still covering most of my pool, Jeff sent the same person out to work on it some more. This resulted in the crusty stuff being completely removed (proving it wasn't done the first time) and the upper, lightest band of staining being reduced slightly but still having no effect on the darkest, ugliest staining. After protesting that so little had been done for $400 Jeff reminded me that he never promised they could remove all staining and that this was the best that could be done. No further reduction in staining was possible. This would have left me no choice but to paint the pool. But it wasn't true. There absolutely was a way to not only reduce the staining further but to completely eliminate it! Which would have also eliminated the need to have my pool cleaned or painted. In the hopes of avoiding a $1,200 paint job I went online to research pool stains to see if there were any other options. I learned that this was an iron rust stain which is among the most common types of fiberglass pool stains, which can be ENTIRELY REMOVED with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) which is universally recognized amongst pool cleaners as the definitive solution. So I added about two tablespoons of ascorbic acid to an 8 ounce glass of water and splashed it onto the side of the pool - then watched the stain COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR in a matter of seconds! I didn't even have to touch the side of the pool. I've since learned all I ever had to do was refill my pool and dump about a pint of this into it and let the filter run for about 24 hours. There are only two possibilities here: Either they knew what kind of stain this was and how to remove it, or they didn't. Either the owner of a professional pool cleaning service, with 16 years of experience, or the professional pool cleaner he sent out to clean it, was aware of this simple, inexpensive solution to this common pool stain, or BOTH of them didn't know how to solve a stain that I found a solution to after 10 minutes on YouTube. I sent a video to Jeff demonstrating the ease in which the stain could be completely removed and an e-mail explaining why I thought it was unreasonable that I should pay $400 to accomplish little more than the removal of some leaves and a small circular mud stain when a complete cleaning solution was readily available. After six days with no reply and the video never being downloaded I called Jeff to again request a refund. He acknowledged reading my e-mail but never watching the video, then said that since "We did what we we're paid for" and "The pool is going to be the best it can" there were "no refunds". After each time I explained that I was the one who removed the stain (so did their job) he would respond, "Well if you did what you say you did ... if the stain's gone then it's gone. All you've got to do is just fill up your pool." He acknowledged that "There's all kinds of stains...", that iron rust stains was one he was familiar with, and that "We've been doing this since 2004 and every pool we come across is different" but would never answer my direct question as to why my stain was never even tested to determine its type and if he was aware that ascorbic acid was the solution to an iron rust stain. He just kept repeating comments like, "I'm happy that the stain is gone but we did our work, we did what we were paid for, and there's no refunds." I told him that I obviously wasn't going to sue him over $400 but I would certainly make others aware of what happened here. He replied, "Then you have to do what you have to do and I have to do what I have to do. I appreciate your call and you have a great day." Then hung up on me. I've since learned that practically every type of pool stain has a definitive and complete solution, most involving little more than pouring something into it. If you hire VIP to clean your pool don't let them convince you otherwise. read more

Do not let Jeff Podrouzek touch your pool! I am a member of law enforcement , I called him to have my three year old pool acid washed/ cleaned. I had a small mustard algae spore on north side of pool. He sent a female over and she claimed she knew what she was doing. She apparently used way to much acid, my pool plaster is like sand paper ! I talked to Jeff who never came to my house and refused to come ! He said there was no need to come ? He claimed my pool was rough before he washed it? If my pool was rough before you washed it the. Putting more acid on it would make it worse? My pool plaster was very nice and smooth before his company touched it !! Anyways he isn't licensed and insured like he stated in his ad. I found Jeff on yelp and everything was fine for a few months. He kept badgering me to replace my pool filter system, which I could not afford. He promised to give me a used system for only $500 plus labor. I saved up and gave him $300 cash toward this in August 2022, but he never delivered a replacement system. At the same time he vacuumed a plastic bag into the line while servicing the pool. I insisted he have the line cleared since it was his mistake, but he said he would just have it taken care of when they replaced the filter system. Within 10 days the pool turned green in the middle of August. After multiple contacts he continued to refuse to repair the line. I was unable to use my pool after August 15, 2022 for the rest of the season. He continued to service the pool weekly through September, but it never improved and he never repaired the line and never replaced the filter system as promised. In October he stopped showing up. When I complained about the situation, I was told that I had no right to be upset since he had stopped sending me bills for monthly service. Meanwhile the pool became a disgusting green swamp in my backyard. It smelled so bad that I couldn't even sit outside. I didn't hear from Jeff for several months over the winter. I reached out in February to inform him that I needed the pool cleaned and repaired and working no later that Easter (April 2023). The reply I got was that no one uses their pool in April, so he would get to my pool when he felt like it. I told him this was not an acceptable answer and asked for him to return the $300 I gave him toward the filter replacement that never happened. He agreed by text. And then I never heard from him again. I have asked him multiple times to do the right thing and return my money after he ruined my pool. I didn't even ask for what it cost me to have another company repair what he ruined through his carelessness and arrogance. In total, it cost me $1000 to have the pool cleaned properly, $225 to clear the line he damaged, $3500 for parts and labor to replace the filter system that would not prime after the damaged caused by having the line blocked for over 6 months. I am currently considering my options to sue for the damages. If I could at least get the $300 he agreed to return, I would let that go. Run far away from this guy. I found this company on an add on Craigslist. I messaged a man named Jeff and I informed him that I wanted to get my pool acid washed. He told me I should be careful because if someone doesn't have experience they can ruin the plaster. So, I asked him how much experience he had and he said over 20 years. So, I agreed to have him do it. Then, a woman showed up and begin the process of draining the pool. He said it would take a half a day or so. I go out to check it in the morning and half the pool was drained, but there was new water pouring in. So, water was being pumped out water pouring back in because the valve was not shut off. The water was being drained into the street when there was a drain it could have went to. If the city would have driven by, that would have been a $500 fine. So, to the real problem. The lady was the one who did the acid wash and let the acid sit and ruined the plaster. So, now I am looking at $4,000-$6,000 to redo the plaster. If this where my filter pump I'm sure it would have been done right away. Poor communication with owner. Jeff, the owner gives vague quotes for repairs then overcharges the unsuspecting. I asked him about replacing a pump and filter, he suggested going with a pump that he charged over $900 and gave a generic option for equipment that you can purchase on eBay for $700. He did the same with the pool filter. I payed $925 for a filter that you can purchase online for $600. I asked about replacing a pressure valve for my auto fill as well. He said the part was $200 and $125 for labor. I decided to finally look up these materials online. I found a pressure valve for $55 and installed it myself in less than 20 minutes. After installation (which took 3 weeks for them to come) his tech said if you have any questions with operations, call Jeff. I've called and text Jeff numerous occasions to no reply. I'm guessing I'll hear from him after this. When I asked about being overcharged, he said he would look into it. That was weeks ago. Any decent business owner knows customer service is priority, this company does not do that. Moral of the story, very poor experience, but live and learn. Know that people like this owner will take advantage of you unless you do your own homework first! read more

I was having issues with my pool and my fiance found Jeff on Craigslist. She spoke to him on Monday and he agreed to come out on Wednesday. Someone came out and looked at the problem and Jeff called me and said it would cost 350.00 for the parts and 375.00 for labor. I was desperate my pool was green so he said to Zelle him the 350 for parts to start the job. I immediately sent it and he said his agent would be out on Thursday. On Thursday No show, I called and he said his worker had problems with his truck but would be out the next day. Next day no show. He then said his worker's dog had to go to the vet. The next day Saturday no show, his worker's mom was in the hospital. He then asked if I wanted a refund and get someone else to do the job, I said yes. I kept waiting for the refund and finally called him. He said he would not refund my money because I did not have empathy to his worker and I got upset. I had my fiance contact him because he wouldn't answer my calls or text. He told her that he would refund when he got his refund for the parts that he had bought minus the restocking fee. About 3 weeks later he contacted my fiance and said he would refund by the end of August. I have not receive any monies yet and he will not answer any text or calls from me or my fiance. I cannot believe that this man stole my money. I have tried everything to resolve this the police said I would have to sue him. I did initiate my paperwork with the court. My pool filter was leaking and I purchased a new one. A friend installed it and could not get it to work so I searched Craigslist and found VIP Pool/Jeff Podrouzek. My initial contact with Jeff was a pleasant one and he said he would send an agent to check out the problem and give me an estimate. The person did not show up at the appointed time and I called Jeff and he stated that the agent was having issues and come out the following day. Same thing, he did not show up. He came the following day and checked out the issue and left with the old filter, telling my GF that he wanted it for parts. Jeff followed up later that day and said the parts would be $350.00 + $375.00 for labor. I was desperate at this point, my pool was green, and asked how we could proceed. Jeff said as soon as he got a deposit for the parts he would set an appt. for the labor. He said he accepted Zelle and I sent him the deposit of $350.00. I followed up and Jeff stated that he got the money and the agent would be out Thursday morning. On Thursday afternoon I called Jeff because the agent was a no show. Jeff said his dog was sick and he had to take him to the Vet but would be out the next day. Next day no show and Jeff told me the agent was having vehicle issues, but would bee out on Friday. On Friday no show, Jeff said the agent's mom was hospitalized. I asked if he only had 1 person to deal with this job and explained that my pool was green and I complied with his demand for a deposit and I needed my pool fixed. He said the agent would be out on Saturday but surprise, NO SHOW. i texted Jeff and he texted and said that I could either wait until Monday or get my refund. I was really upset at this point and said i want a refund. I texted him later that day after he stopped answering my call and asked why I had not received my refund. Jeff said he would not give me a refund until he got a refund for the parts he had bought. I immediately texted back and said that was not the deal, I gave him a refund and wanted it back. For the next few days I texted him daily requesting the refund but he never answered, I finally asked my Gf to call him. Jeff answered and told her he had not submitted the parts for the refund and he would not refund me until he got his from his supplier. My Gf asked if she could get the receipts and go get the refund he told her no. He then said he was not going to refund me because I was rude and not emphatic to his employee who had a sick mom. He proceeded to hang up on my gf. I have tried to call Jeff and I text him daily asking him for my $350.00 refund because I need it to get someone else to fix my pool. I have called also he never answers my messages. It has been 3 weeks and I do not know what else to do. I texted Jeff today and asked once more. I reminded him that he stole my money and I have made it my mission in life to get it back. I have tried to locate him and have proceeded to file a small claims suit against him. I am appealing to anyone that even considered doing business with this thief to reconsider. Please save yourself the stress and aggravation and find a respectable contractor.
