Would not recommend. Took almost two months to do the project because they showed up maybe once a week. No communication. Had to intervene a few times on the rock wall to correct craftsmanship and it still looks horrible. The fact now that it now leaks beneath the wall on all sides is completely unacceptable.

Update: Scotts reply is inaccurate: 1 Awesome Pool Solution retracted the bid when it was requested to be provided to all board members. They are clearing hiding details regarding that bid from the rest of the board. The solution is to send the bid to everyone. Apparently there is something "Shady". Avoid this company at all costs. 2nd Update: Again Scotts reply is inaccurate. The main reason his company was contacted was for deck repairs. Therefore the comment "to pull a permit for work completed by another party" is false. No deck repairs have been completed by any company. This back and forth is proof they have no integrity. I will get to the bottom of this "shady" behavior or perhaps the State Contractors Board will do the honors. Please dont waste your time with this company.

However, the company struggles with organization on medium-sized projects, particularly regarding supplier coordination and communication. Customer service with Melissa did not meet expectations, as I had to proactively follow up via text and web messaging to get answers. I was also disappointed when Scott, who was a key reason I chose this company, became defensive instead of understanding challenges and the sequence-of-events. I had to manage and seek when vendors were coming out and when they arrived in the wrong order and at the wrong time. The pool materials was left out and the pool was left without chemicals and filter running with fresh water for 1.5 weeks. While I recognize it wasn't their responsibility to add chemicals; it should have been communicated and at least in working condition but they didn't want to come out again after they refilled the pool until Pentair technician came out to avoid another trip. While they pointed to my schedule, I was only referring to the programming portion as I communicated, not the critical need to get the system running immediately after filling the pool. I understand everyone is busy, but I suggest Scott seeks to understand the client's perspective before responding in such a manner to get folks on the same page. A positive shout-out to Lee, who is a Pentair whiz and was super helpful.

I contacted him in advance and asked if he could come Saturday or Monday to get the water properly treated and balanced. He told me he couldn't come until Thursday. Since I didn't want a newly filled pool sitting that long without being properly treated, I told him I understood and that we would find another pool maintenance company that could come sooner. I then asked him to refund the unused portion of the $150 monthly service fee, since he had only performed one service that month. Instead of simply discussing the cancellation and refund professionally, the conversation became extremely hostile. He told me, "You pay thousands of dollars for a remodel, yet you won't pay me $200?" and eventually called me a "low-life" and said he "could wipe my ass with that money." I understand that there can be disagreements about charges, and I had no problem paying another company for the chemicals and startup service. My issue was the way I was spoken to simply because I chose to discontinue the service and requested the unused balance back. Unfortunately, after the way this situation was handled and the personal insults I received, I would not use this company again. Update after the owner's response: His response unfortunately reinforces the reason I decided to change companies. I did not cancel because I was looking for free service or because I did not want to pay for chemicals. My new pool company charges me $159/month, which is actually more than the $150/month I was paying him. They also charge separately for the freshwater startup chemicals, which I agreed to pay. I have no issue paying for services or chemicals. I changed companies because I was unhappy with the service and, most importantly, the way I was being communicated with. Even after I ended the service, the owner continued calling me "low-class" publicly in his response to this review. I think his own messages and response speak for themselves.

We ultimately chose 4M Specialties. This company has been family owned and doing business in the area for over 30 years (receiving top ratings from the BBB). While 4M was not the cheapest (maybe slightly below average), Mike (Miguel) and Jorge took the most interest in understanding our needs/desires and demonstrated/communicated the greatest knowledge (from years of hands-on experience). Our experience was fantastic in terms of knowledge of the trade/skills, quality of work, and customer care as compared to the contractors my wife and I have worked with over the last 40 years. This experience began with initial project scoping and continued through materials selection (e.g., grout color), design options (accent tile placements), project execution and clean-up (by the crews), and final walk-thru (to ensure our complete satisfaction). Although phone responses were initially not as timely as we would have liked, we found that this was never an issue once the project began -- Mike provides nearly immediate response to texts whenever he is not on site. As for the work crews themselves, extremely polite and considerate. Whenever we had any questions during the process, the supervisors addressed them immediately. Each member of the various trade crews was respectful of our landscape and property, and never left for the day without a thorough cleanup of the work site (all of the 4M employees we met had been with the company for 15+ years). We highly recommend 4M Specialties and will call upon 4M again when we replace our bedroom/bath flooring with tiling!

I knew that my filters needed to be replaced. The water circulation wasn't moving as fast as I…read morethought it should. And the dirt didn't seem to be taken up no matter how much I swept it to the intakes. I was able to book an appointment with Excellent Pool Services and I explained I have the filters, o ring, and lube, just need the muscle to put the filter container back together again. Anderson was my technician and you'll see the old and new filters. Gross doesn't even come close. He cleaned out the bottom half and I got the top half. He pulled the drain plug and cleared all the assembly pieces. He totally cleared where the o ring sits. Recommended that I replace the 2 piece valve that sits on top and which piece uses plumbers tape and which doesn't and why. And that's for starters! My pool test strips-nope. Get the test that uses the liquids. Chlorine tablets-nope. Use the liquid type made for pools. Not household stuff for those who are new to pools. He told me how to clear the calcium ring around my pool from using chemicals that a chain pool place told me to use. A pumice stone. He told me where I can go to get parts and supplies. I feel like I am in class and I surely needed to take notes! He recommended that I not cover the pool in winter. I have tried so many ways to do so and now I know to not use chlorine and just keep the pool clean. I know I have the right company when their technician takes the time to explain the how's and why's to take care of your pool. I'm not good at the difference in the acids but i have the wrong kind at the moment. I'll get the right kind for sure. I found out mine is a fiberglass pool. I knew it wasn't vinyl but I would've guessed concrete. My pool water is circulating with power now. Its got new chlorine liquid working its magic right now. I'm going out to scrub my walls again and get this pool cleaned up fully so I can test it and get IN it!!! Its hot out here!!! Easy to get a hold of, superb communication…read more I had to cancel my last pool service due to various issues from inappropriate and duplicate invoicing to lying about whether or not they've actually cleaned. My old pool service charged me additional money to fix a leak in my pool pump but then said they were unable to fix it but did not refund the extra $400. I then had an algae bloom immediately after cancelling and needed to hurry and find a new pool service. Excellent Pool Service offered me the most reasonable price out of the other six local pool companies I contacted. My pool had gotten so bad that you couldn't see the floor anymore. They drained my pool, scrubbed the walls, changed the pool from salt to chlorine, cleaned the filters, and they even fixed the leak in my pool pump for less than what my previous company charged but they actually fixed it. They also helped with my control panel and saved me hundreds of dollars. I was so impressed that I just had to have them for maintenance. When they say they come out every week to clean, I know and trust that they're out here every week to clean.
