We had issues with our pool pump and after trying a new motherboard and a transformer to no avail, we called Fix-a-Pool. Jordan came out and arrived exactly when promised. He spent less than fifteen minutes looking at our system and determined that it was nothing more than a loose wire. He fixed the issue and said there was nothing to it and it was not even anything worth charging for. So impressed with this service and honesty, we thought we had found our new go-to company for any and all future pool issues. Two days later, Leonard called and requested we Zelle $130 for the service call. No invoice, no receipt, just wanted $130 for a visit that was under 15 minutes and we were told that it was no charge. When questioned, he became a bit rude and demanded we pay him. Needless to say, this call now showed the lack of integrity on the owner's part and a definite loss of any future business. As much as we hope to not need pool repairs, it is the inevitable that things happen. We will now find someone else as his demand and lack of integrity has shown that $130 an hour is more valuable than future business, positive reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations. Having been a small business owner I rarely write negative reviews because I know how it could impact a business, however potential clients need to be aware that this company has no regard for the customer or their time. I contacted Fix a Pool in early March 2021 and "Kelly" came on a Friday to out to look at the job. A very personable man who according to him had extreme experience in building and assessing pools. I was impressed (he was obviously very impressed with himself) and I even called his boss Leonard to tell him what a good employee he had, not realizing at that point I had been duped. I was told I would get an estimate early the following week. Well, I waited a month and never got so much as a call or an e-mail from the company. I figured I'd give them a call and try to find out what the status of the estimate was. I spoke with Leonard who had no idea who I was or what I was talking about. He told me he would get right on it and get back to me. He text me later and asked for my name and address. I provided my name, email, address and phone number. Never got a return call or email. 2 days later I called again, and he again had no idea who I was. After reminding him of our conversation and adding that he said he would go home and call me right after work he remembered and apologized and blamed his employee for not preparing an estimate. He stated he would contact his employee and get back to me. I waited a couple of days and called again. Again, he had no idea who I was. He explained that he was extremely busy and spoke to lots of people during the course of a day. He asked for my information again which I provided. Now it was no surprise that I didn't hear back from him. This company obviously thinks their time is more valuable than a customer it seems like they think they are doing you a favor by taking your money. Owners should never blame employees for their failings, they should take responsibility and correct the problem. If you don't have time to do a job, just tell the customer don't string them along. If this is how they treat someone prior to getting a job imagine the excuses they would come up with for being late, not showing up or providing sloppy or inferior work. He inspected the work site and provided a written cost estimate which I promptly accepted via email. I also requested a date upon which the work would be performed. No response! Three days later I again requested a start date for the work to be performed. No response! No phone call. No email. No Text Message. Two days later. I returned the spring to have the work done at $8k quote turned to $11K. Ouch. So I removed a line in the job to get me back on budget and sent it back the next day. 2 weeks later no reply. 2 phone calls nothing. 2 months later a new lady finally called me back to put me on the schedule for the next month. Guess what they didn't call or come. So I called IPools and they came the following week. Drained, chipped and replastered my pool. Replaced a light and my filters. From the start, nothing but issues, then his tech "finished" with our deck looking worse than we hired him to fix including breaking several tiles that were new as of 2 years ago as well as my hose nozzle. Owner tried to come collect a check for payment without ever checking the work done. Then he tried to cover up two of the cracked tiles and lie to my face that they were never cracked, that its just the texture of my tiles, that we already had to stare at for over a month, like we just made it up. I even told him i could see the the clear residue of whatever he used to try to hide the cracks, he told me it was impossible. When I called him out to his face on how poorly he has treated us from the start, he doubled down. A small job that should have been started and finished within the same week, is still not complete after more than 36 days. I'd literally give zero stars if that was an option. This pool Reno process has been an absolute headache from the start. Took nearly a month to get a final quote due to who knows what, we were just constantly told we'd get an email "tomorrow" next up given an approximate 3 week completion date. Well that would have been nice but instead had the pool drained then demo'd then no crews available so it sat empty for weeks. Minimal to no communication about crews not being available and waiting for someone to show up. To crew damaging the property- new turf was pulled up, painted, plastered, and then incorrectly laid back down, a concrete patio was also subcontracted out to extend pool decking and patio. Pavers were pulled up and we were left with a sand pit for well over a week waiting for someone to be able to come pour the concrete. Now just a few weeks have gone by and the paint is already chipping away in spots and massive stains are all over leaving me to believe that the concrete was never actually sealed. Thousands of dollars and just 2 weeks everything already looks like it's been sitting there for years. Do yourself a favor and shop around. read more

My 27 year old pool was in need of plaster and decking replacement. I obtained three estimates and decided to use Fix-a-Pool. All bids were within the same ballpark but after seeing the work that Fix-a-Pool had previously done for my neighbor, the choice was simple. They did a beautiful job on the restoration and the work was completed within the time frame that was promised. The only constructive criticism I can offer is the slow movement of communication. One previous YELP review noted that the customer didn't know when the next workers would arrive. Although this is true, my reasoning was that it is an outdoor project with unlimited access to my backyard so an accurate time schedule wasn't all that necessary. My main concern, however, was the lack of communication on how to proceed once the work was completed. In my haste to want to get my pool back to normalcy, I was tempted to replace the cleaner only after two days of the plaster being refinished. My instincts told me to check with the work crew first and it was then that I was told to wait two weeks after the job was completed. Thankfully, I didn't act impulsively and asked before I ruined the plaster finish. In this regard, I feel as though I should have been told beforehand when it was okay to put the cleaner in the pool. I have had to many problems with this business to trust the owner. We waited almost 4 months for our pool replaster to be done. I thought we had plenty of time to redo the pool since signing in early March. It is now July 5th and the pool has finally been finished. The pool plaster looks white. But that's where it ends. Unfortunately, the plaster guys plastered over all the in floor cleaning nozzles. So I had to dive down and remove most of them to get them working again. Some I can't get working at all because they have been totally plastered over. I paid for an extra additive that would make the plaster stronger and it has a 20 year warranty(Unfortunately this company won't be around for 20 years). I examined the plaster guys mixing the plaster during the job. And I will say that I did not get what I paid for. I never once saw the worker adding this additive to the mix. The owner assures me that it was added. But I think he's lying just like everything else. They also try to charge you for a pool filter cleaning and brushing after the pool is done. No one shows up or does that. I emailed Leonard about that. And got no response. Yet the final bill came and there was that extra charge of almost $300. And as stated with other customers. Every time there was a cleanup done on our pool. The tools and equipment were cleaned in the rocks and yard. Much of my complaint is with the owner(Leonard) and his so called right hand man (Kelly). They are totally incompetent. They don't communicate with each other nor with me. Neither have any idea what customer service is. If they would of let me know that it was going to take this long. I would have had them wait till fall to do the job. But they gave me no warning of how long it was going to take. Which from the beginning I was concerned about leaving the pool empty for a long period of time(because of danger or my kids or dogs falling in). In fact my contract says once started it will be finished within two weeks. At 2 months I wrote a review on Home Advisor to express my concerns and complaints. But they would not finish the pool unless I removed the review. The original complaint stands true that they don't return calls, emails or texts messages. They don't do the work stated in the contract. And then they try to charge you for it. They do not keep you up to date on the progress or let you know when employees are coming. And when they do tell you someone is coming. They don't show up. They basically leave you guessing in all situations. When you think something is going to be done on the pool. It won't be done for another 2 to 3 weeks. The owner instead writes emails blaming everything on the supply houses and truck drivers not being available, to employee shortages. Or spends time reading bad reviews about his business. He writes it off as I don't know this person. Or I've never heard of this person. He is on top of stuff like that for sure. But not on top of his jobs. But I have a better idea. Stop signing people on for a job if you can't finish them. Do the jobs that are already signed to a contracts and add as you go. And do the jobs correctly. Do a follow-up as an owner to make sure it is done and done correctly. And this might help with remembering the customers you already have. Leonard is a total liar. So don't believe any of the garbage he spews or his counterpart Kelly. And for goodness sakes don't hire this company. You will be sorry. read more
