My wife asked the owner about repairing the purse zipper and he said they didn't do that but she should have it repaired before trying to dry clean it. She told him she didn't want to dry clean it but he kept repeating it needed to be repaired first. He next asked her if she had been in before and where she had taken dry cleaning before. She told him and he asked her why she wasn't going back there (very odd questioning). She told him she was not working during the summer and this cleaner was easier to get to from our home (she passed by the other on her way to work). He next began inspecting the clothes and said the dresses would cost $30 each to dry clean because he used and Eco-friendly method. $30 was more than most of the dresses had cost at the thrift stores. My wife asked about the shirts and he said those would be washed and would cost $5 each. My wife began sorting them and found one shirt with the sleeves rolled up. She began shaking it to open up the sleeve and the owner yelled at her to stop because he didn't want dust in his store. She said they weren't dusty she was just trying to straighten out the sleeve. He said that is what they would do and to leave it alone. She asked him why he was being so rude and he scooped up the clothes and put them back in the bag and told her to leave. My wife was shocked. I used VIP Cleaner for about 8 months. The owner was initially nice and did a fine job. His turn around time is two weeks, which is absolutely acceptable for me. I come every week though to drop clothes, as it is my preference. The owner did not seem to have any issues with this, as he never made any comments. This changed about five weeks ago, when he made a nasty comment about me coming every week and him needing two weeks to return the clothes, leading to the need to open two tickets for me. He also made a rude comment about why I needed to bring a shirt while I could wash it at home. Since then, every following week, he has been rude. Last week he made minute-long comments about me being able to mow come every Friday and pick up my clothes, reducing the turn-around time from two weeks to one week. But as he spoke he was even more rude. I asked him three times or so to confirm I come every Friday, as I sometime have to ask people again to make sure I got it right. To which he said "Do I speak English to you?". Then today, Friday, May 12, 2023, as I came to pick up my clothes, he was extremely cold. When I asked him how he was doing as part of the greeting, he ignored me. And after paying, as I said "Bye" after he handed me back my credit card, he again ignored me, turned around and went back to the back of the shop. This way to interact is unacceptable on a purely social level, let alone between a business owner and his customer. Where do I begin? We have been using VIP for over 2 years now, and the service ways always fair until today. I give the negative 5 stars because of the way I was treated today. I went in this morning to ask for a refund on my husbands hem job that was done with fishing wire. Yes, plastic fishing wire with a much larger gauge than thread. I was upset because they were very nice Banana Republic slacks, 2 pairs. I was speaking to the son, when the owner (old man) came to the front and was upset without knowing what was going on or willing to even give me a chance to explain why I was upset, he threw the pants at me on the counter and told me I was crazy and said "This how everybody do, no money back!!" I left crying and he had no remorse at all. I feel very sorry for (who I believe is) his son and daughter in law. The look on his son's face was that of sheer embarrassment. He looked like a deer in headlights, just not sure of what to do. The owner obviously has zero respect for his customers. He was also saying that I had done this before and was pointing to his chest/heart area, then was pointing to around the collar area a few minutes later repeating the same thing. I told him he has me mistaken for someone else. This doesn't surprise me as I come in about once a week and still have to tell him my name which consists of four letters. Please do not give them any business, they will not correct their mistakes or own up to them in any way. At this establishment, the customer is never right. read more

1 star because you can't give negative stars. I used to like VIP but mainly due to proximity. When it comes to cleaners they were pretty average. I used them for cleaning my suits and shirts and occasionally some of my wife's clothes. In the past they have put burn marks on some of my shirts and would never own up to it but due to proximity I let it slide. I recently went in there because I needed a quick hem on some dress pants. They were returned to me looking like a 5 year old did the job, AND it was done with fishing wire. You could see the shiny uneven stitching a mile away!!!! These pants were almost $200 a pair!!! My wife went in to return them to either be fixed or get our money back. The old man threw them back at my wife, yelling at her calling her crazy. The younger employees just sat there and did nothing. I immediately called to discuss. The old man said I was wrong and that this is how all hems are done which is so not true. He literally said to me: "You good man, you wife crazy. This how everybody do. No money back!" And yes, was yelling at me too, the customer. I will never go back and recommend that everyone in Edmonds not go there. It seems like if you don't complain all is good but the second you have a problem, you are wrong. You are supposed to run a good quality, clean, smooth operating business. When something goes wrong, how you handle it is what truly separates you from the rest. I used to always bring our dry cleaning here, as it is close to home and they did a great job - including alterations The last few times I've been in (over the last three months), it has been completely different. Last week I went in to ask if they would replace a zipper in a coat, and the answer was, "That is going to be REALLY expensive, and you are going to have to go buy a zipper for us to put in." Then, I asked if they would dry clean a needlepoint piano bench/cover, and he said he wouldn't touch it because the cushion inside couldn't be removed. "No way, I won't touch that." I understand if it is an item they can't work with - but every time I've been in recently, the younger man who "helped" me has been rude. He gives the impression that he just wants me to get out of there. The older gentleman (the dad?) used to always be there and he was very nice, remembered our name - very personable and friendly. I love that VIP Cleaners is right around the corner form my house. I bring all my clothes here for dry cleaning and alterations. They are always friendly. There have been a few times when I needed a rush service with my clothes and they have always come through for me. They have even stayed open 15 minutes late for me once when I called and told them I was on my way in. They have NEVER ruined my clothes. My clothes always come back stain free, looking and smelling great! They fix buttons and seams for me as well. I am never disappointed, always a happy customer. This IS my dry cleaner. read more

I actually took two typical items to each of the three local cleaners, to see how the cost, cleaning, and general experience was. VIP was not only the cheapest, but did a better cleaning job, and I felt that the owner (Jay) actually cared about doing a good job, and that he actually was looking for my repeat business. I decided to try this cleaner because of their convenient location near the QFC at which I shop. I was greeted immediately by the owner and quoted a fair price for the Mother of the Groom dress that had a lot of pleats and a tuxedo I dropped off. Everything looked great when I picked it up a few days later. One week later I dropped off a trench coat that was in dire need of cleaning. My husband picked it up and said it didn't even look like the same coat. I know how it looked when it was dropped off so they must have spent a lot of time cleaning that garment. I did try to take some very old silk pieces to be cleaned (before I had them framed) and the owner politely told me he would not clean them unless I signed a release form. His concern would be that the color would run or they could fall apart. He said they would be worth more with their spots (of which there were few) then to take a chance and ruin it in the process of trying to remove them. I had taken these to other cleaners and they all said pretty much the same thing...they wanted me to sign a release. He was the only one to suggest framing them as is because of their significance to me. He did press two of them to remove some creases and he did not charge me for the few seconds it took.
