We both ordered the chicken gyro bowls along with the spinach basil balls. The portions were incredibly generous. So much so that we each took half of our meal home and enjoyed it again for dinner. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I had never tried spinach basil balls before. They reminded me of a croquette, crisp on the outside and full of flavor inside. You order at the counter and pick up your food at the counter. The space itself is beautifully decorated, with a warm ambiance that feels inspired by Greek culture. We'll definitely be back!

I did not feel the need to call and question the processes as I feel if a restaurant has the audacity to label something allergy free, it's trustworthy. An hour after eating this I became violently ill. It was an hour and a half ride home for me, vomiting in my car and going to the bathroom on the side of Route 78 and 37° weather. This is unacceptable and I am absolutely furious. Laid up in my bed and wasting days of my life being ill now Please don't make the same mistake I did and trust this menu

The line was incredibly long, I waited in line for 2.5 hrs, and waited another 30 mins for my food. The people running this business are incredibly disorganized and unprofessional. I came specifically for the chicken isaw, because it was the 1 unique item on their menu. Everything else on their menu, you can get from any filipino restaurant, including ones not far off in raritan (Lutong Bahay & Ph Island) so I wouldn't have joined the long queue if it weren't for that. If you see a long queue wrapping around the corner of the street, you should have a staff member going around announcing each time you run out of a menu item so that we don't waste any time standing there. The paper they have magnetized on the truck isn't reliable because it was constantly flying off of their truck. that's what happened to me. It was my turn and they no longer had chicken isaw. None of their staff ever communicated items that were selling out to the people in line. Since at this point i've already stood there for 2.5 hrs, I just ended up ordering the regular bbq. After ordering, you then have to stand by another table where people are gathered waiting for their orders to be called out. I stood there for another 30 minutes, getting frustrated throughout. Because while in any other circumstance i'd understand that they're still trying to cook the skewers, I was continuously seeing that as skewers were being placed on the aluminum trays where all the cooked ones are, their relatives who were just sitting and hanging out behind the counter/table, would grab skewers from that tray and snack on it. Napaka bastos! (How rude!) In front of the customers who have been standing there waiting for their orders! This turned me off the most. I got my order later on and it wasn't even good. You're better off going to Leo's bbq if you want good skewers or even Philippine Island in Raritan. 0/10 worst service, most unprofessional, and most disorganized establishment i've ever been to.

A Ripper: otherwise known as a "Deep-Fried Hotdog". Three plain and simple words, but when…read morecombined, they are nearly pornographic. At least they are for me. Rutt's Hut has been on my punch list for a long time. Actually NJ fried Hot Dogs have been both from Rutt's and from Hiram's over in Ft. Lee. I got to Hiram's and today was my luck day to get a shot at a Ripper. Rutt's is a bit off the beaten path and is down a meandering pothole filled road in a very industrial feeling part of town surrounded by wooded areas. It seems like it would be a better place for a serial killer body dump than a Hot Dog vendor but it's been there since 1928 so it must be doing something right. There is a large, private, and free parking lot which is a huge bonus in my playbook. The building looks like it is in disrepair. There are 2 areas to eat here. A door to the left seems to be a pub/bar with sit down service and then there is the right side that I went to which is a stand up, indoor counter where you can get in and out very quickly. This is a cash only spot so come prepared. Get to an open counter worker, give them your order, and pay when they hand over the goods. I was a little intimidated when I walked in because it was clear that everyone else in the place understood the ordering routine and knew the menu (there are quite a few other items you could order other than Rippers). I stood in a corner like a potted plant for about 10 minutes and watched what others did when they walked in before I figured out the process. It's pretty simple but I did not want to screw up Rutt's world order by doing something stupid. The 3 Rippers I ordered were good (but not best in class for me). The one I liked the most was the chili cheese dressed Ripper because the chili was actually quite tasty. On the counter are large containers of brown mustard and almost-fluorescent yellow relish. People seem to love the stuff. It was a bit like sweetened sauerkraut for me and the color of it makes me think it is either radioactive or seasoned with antifreeze. I would be happy going here again but I can't say that my Rippers were anything special. I might ask for them to be a little overdone next time to add a bit of texture. What I did like about Rutt's was the history, the dilapidated building, the simplicity of the menu, the naming of their dogs as "Rippers", and the fact that it felt like I was eating among real NJ natives that knew exactly what they were there for. Experiencing local culture doesn't get much better than that.

I was pleasantly surprised that they had roast pork as one of the entrées in the buffet. I don't typically think of that being an Italian dish, but regardless it was really delicious and that made me happy! They also had chicken francaise amongst other dishes. I must say that I consider myself a chicken francaise connoisseur. Lol! That is my favorite Italian dish and what I always pick when I go to an Italian restaurant. I found this particular chicken franchise to be just OK because the chicken was on the thick side and I like it thin. I also thought there should be a bit more sauce in the container it was in. I do remember that the other time I was there the chicken francaise was thick as well. Otherwise, the restaurant is fine as they have ample parking, though the spots are tight. Service was attentive and I do recommend the restaurant for any party or event.
