This last time a friend and I set at the bar and received Excellent Service from young handsome man (not sure of race...had tattoo....pretty eyes...light skin....wore hat...think he was black but not sure) while at the bar. The disappointment came when aggressive lady came in and motioned me to give my plate to her....she was Rude! She did ask if I was done or say excuse me can I take that for you etc... She busted motioned for me to give too her. Now this is my 2nd bad experience with the lady servers at this location. Not sure what the issue is but it needs to ve fixed! Checked this place out on a Saturday, late afternoon. Cool spot, great music, awesome vibe. Servers were less than attentive. Ordered two appetizers for two people to share. No plates or napkins were dropped off before, with, or after the food. We had to wait for the server to come by to ask for what we needed. The food was good. We ordered the salt & vinegar chips and the peri peri wings. Hot, fresh and good flavor. My only real gripe is the online menu does not match the in-store menu. I have Celiac Disease and cannot eat gluten. There were more gluten free options to choose from with the online menu. Upon arriving to the restaurant, there were not as many options on the same menu. If I'm ever in Charlotte again, I'd go back to Vinyl, because the food was delicious. I would just hope for better service the second time around. read more

My first time checking this place out and I got the garlic bread Margherita pizza. The pizza was flavor with a good amount of cheese and sauce. The bread was crispy with a buttery garlic taste. Vinyl is cool, but going again for the 1st time in almost 3 years reminded me why I don't go lol. It's not the place it's the people there. I know South End is lively, I get it. But whew, we went on a Satur-DAY, day time lol. It was pretty packed, we lucked up with a table outside. There was a super drunk lady yelling and arguing with another gentleman who was also drunk. They exchanged words and middle fingers. The girl even started to argue with the security guy. Just sad. Once she left it got better. I only had a drink called a hot and dirty martini. It was cute, strong and spicy. Our server was great! He checked on us a bunch, turned off a heater when we asked and also kicked out an obnoxious guy who was constantly blowing a whistle inside. Yea, good ole South End.... My only other issue is how loud it gets there. We eventually had to just leave, it was painfully loud and rowdy. We were screaming at each other and still saying "huh". Got there early on a Friday night (8:45) as suggested. Although we waited for a seat (no one was at the hostess station) a member of the security team got us seated. The music wasn't extremely loud so we were able to have conversation without yelling. The place is very nicely decorated which makes for amazing photo ops. We ordered Brussel sprouts, chicken sliders and steak frites. All of it was amazing! We left talking about how good the food was and how'd we'd come back for sure. Security was efficient and polite right from the start , which helped set a good tone. We stopped by for a cocktail and the place was packed, but thankfully snagged seats at the bar just in time . The vibe and atmosphere were really nice , energetic without feeling chaotic. A quick heads up for the ladies , there are only two stalls and the line gets beyond fierce fast , and we noticed a line for the men's room too. I LOVED this spot! We stopped in on Saturday afternoon and were excited to check out the Halloween Pop-Up. It did not disappoint! The decor was super cool in general and the spooky elements were icing on the cake. We parked at a lot about a block up by the Backyard and walked down. Our bartenders were great! Very nice and efficient. There was a DJ and the music was hoppin! We didn't have food this trip but we did each have a brunchy drink and WOW! My friend had the Back to Black which may have taken the top spot in her list of favorite drinks. Espresso Martini who!? I could definitely replace my morning coffee with the B2B My Bloody Mary was also delicious and very well made. I loved the large bacon slices on top. It was spicy (per my request) but not TOO spicy. Also the ribeye roll ups with a consume so tasty, also so much meat... all the way through. So my pros... go there! The service was great from someone clearing our table on the regular and the food and the great vibe. My cons.. it is LoSo if you can't walk try to find free parking, which is tough. An avid music lover, I always wanted to visit Vinyl, as the bar was highly recommended, but it took longer than expected for me to get there. For one, I forgot the bar was located next to Pie.Zaa, meaning I could've been visited a long time ago on one of my pizza runs. Nevertheless, I have now made it and since their hours are so convenient, my visits will be more frequent. I also love that the bar is easily accessible from the light rail (Bland St.) so I never have to worry about finding parking. I visited on a Tuesday evening after work with a friend, which definitely impacted my experience. There wasn't a large crowd which allowed me to engage more with the staff and get a rundown on the bar. I met the Hospitality Coordinator, Alley, who gave me insight on the bar's artwork, Sarah, one of the bartenders, who was knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, and patient, and the manager, Mark, who is passionate about the bar as well as the experience of his guests. The bar is vibrant and trendy as the décor fits the theme. The artwork, which I learned is by local artists and artists based in other cities, features musical artists ranging from hip-hop (i.e. Nipsey Hussle, The Notorious B.I.G, Tupac Shakur), to rock (Freddie Mercury of Queen, David Bowie, Janis Joplin), to reggae to soul (Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse). While all of this contributes to the vibe and experience, my favorite part of my visit was the food and drinks. I wanted to try their THC Cocktail, but when I saw there was a cocktail called Sex, Drugs, & Taylor Swift, I had to get that as I am a self-proclaimed Swiftie. I also tried Four Sticks and sampled La Bamba, which my friend got. What I liked about their drinks is that the cocktails are well-blended, not too strong or too fruity. The food was delicious, too, flavorful and crispy in all the areas where needed. My favorites, which was almost everything I tried, were the Steak Frites (steak was very tender and flavorful, make sure to dip it in the smoked ketchup!), the Garlic Parmesan Fries, the Hot Honey Chicken Sliders, the Fried Fish Sandwich (fish sandwiches are a personal fave so I'm biased because it's my preference to eat at any venue), and the Nachos Rancheros. The Latin Street Corn is good as well, but I must admit I expected a more traditional dish, and not a dip. When I return, which I hope will be soon, I hope to try the THC cocktail, the Hatch Queso Fries, and the Peri Peri Chicken Wings. read more

The Vinyl staff always provides good customer service. Courteous and friendly. Usually when I come here I do not get food but the one time I tried it it was a hit. Nachos are a yes. Charcuterie a yes. The chips a tad salty for my taste. Still nice and crisp. I believe they recently switched to a new security company to handle the door and be present inside the venue. And I can tell a difference in a positive way. The security actually speaks to you and treats you like a human being and provides customer service as well. But also handles "situations" accordingly. The menu had a great variety of small bites along with entrees. The drink menu was extensive. As a non drinker there was the option for a mocktail, which is always appreciated. The fries were delicious. The Mediterranean salad was ok, but nothing special. The hot honey sliders were the perfect combination between spicy and sweet. I had to go with 3 stars (maybe) here because I liked the atmosphere, the holiday decor, the music and the drink I ordered but I think I missed out on the full experience which lead the other reviewers to give 5 stars. I stopped in the Tuesday before Thanksgiving around 7pm-ish. It was raining outside and the inside had about 10 other people sitting at the bar. We opted for a table seat for a little space. The 2 hostesses also served us. One was in training. The "trainer" had 0 energy. It brought down our excitement to try someplace new because it seemed like she didn't want to be there and wasn't necessarily welcoming. I ordered a Liar Liar for $14. Cute presentation and overall tasty drink but they make it with SO much ice. I'm not a fan of grapefruit, and asked them not to include that juice, but was informed that the drink is premade so there are no alterations. The drink was a typical fruity drink. Lots of sugar, lots of ice and little alcohol. They ask for a card upfront to open a tab. While waiting for the drink we oversaw the bartender at work. He was super sociable, shaking up drinks, talking to the customers and having a good time. I see why people rave about their interaction with him but unfortunately we didn't get that vibe. After just one drink we decided to close the tab. Drink, tax and tip totaled about $18. Again, the inside was super nice. The drinks are standard price for the area and there are some cool combinations you can choose from. Didn't get to try the food so I can't give you any suggestions there, but they had a couple things that caught my eye. Overall, it was cool. Next time,note to self, sit at the bar. read more

On a laid-back Sunday, I took a stroll down South Tryon Street in South End and found myself at Vinyl, a bar with a clear love for music. Behind the bar, vinyl records are on display, and the walls feature striking abstract artwork of musicians, creating a cool, creative vibe that instantly draws you in. The music playing in the background set the perfect tone. Vinyl offers a brunch menu that looked seriously tempting--I almost ordered the Shakshuka--but I was craving a burger or wings, and luckily, their regular menu was also available. The bar staff, especially Jamie, were super friendly and accommodating. Since I'm not into spicy foods, Jamie let me sample their Peri Peri sauce (from their newly added wings) before making a decision. While it was flavorful, the kick was a bit too much for me. On to the main event: I'm on a mission to try all the smashburgers in Charlotte, and Vinyl's VINYL Burger was just what I needed. It features double smashed patties, pickle chips, red onions (which I swapped for grilled onions), white American cheese, and Biggie sauce, all served on a toasted brioche bun. I added ketchup and mustard to round out the flavors. The smash patties were on point--thin, crispy on the edges, and juicy in the middle. My only critique is that I could've used a couple more slices of cheese to really amp up the gooey factor, and maybe a leaf of lettuce for a little extra texture. Next time, I'll definitely request those extras to hit the sweet spot. The burger comes à la carte, so I added a side of fries, which were fresh, crispy, and perfectly seasoned--no complaints here! I'll definitely be back soon, probably to give that brunch menu a try. One tip: from what I've seen driving by at night, Vinyl can get pretty lively and loud, so if you're looking for a more laid-back vibe, I'd recommend stopping by in the early afternoon. I went to Vinyl to celebrate a friend's birthday a few months ago and ordered one drink for myself, plus ONE birthday drink for my friend. We stayed for about two hours and I didn't order anything else before eventually leaving. The next day, I checked my bank statement and realized I had been charged more than $150-- clearly someone else's entire tab was run on my card. When I called the next day to get it sorted, the manager on duty didn't seem to care at all. I eventually asked to speak to the general manager and ended up speaking with Mark. His response was honestly unbelievable. Instead of taking the issue seriously, he questioned whether I had gotten drunk and simply forgotten buying all those drinks. I told him to check the security cameras -- we were standing right at the front of the bar, directly in view -- and even gave him my friend's number to verify everything. After that, I heard nothing. No call back, no follow-up, no apology. At that point, I realized they weren't going to take responsibility for their mistake. Thankfully, I reached out to the birthday boy and he reimbursed me directly once I explained what happened. What bothered me most wasn't the billing error (mistakes happen), but the complete lack of accountability and professionalism. From the dismissive attitude to the refusal to even attempt an investigation, the customer service was genuinely pathetic. You expect this kind of experience from Chuck E. Cheese, not from Vinyl - I definitely won't be coming back. read more
