Couldn't get beyond their crappy phone customer service. It wasn't the CS rep. She was nice. It was the sales guy I had to deal with after. Incredibly lazy and unhelpful. I found Vintage Timberworks in my online search for a fireplace mantle. I was excited to find a local reclaimed-wood seller and was not disappointed at all when I got there. The ready and available mantles were all so beautiful so that it was not easy to choose. Fortunately I had a budget for my renovation to think about that did help me narrow down my options. Otherwise, I could have gone hog-wild there. The shop-keep was a good source of answers for all of my questions, so I was able to find something I loved and will appreciate over my fireplace for many years to come! read more

I love the mantel piece that I ended up purchasing, and the lady that I worked with was very accommodating which is why I'm happy with my visit - overall. However, the only thing keeping me from putting down 5 stars is when the dude working there rolled his eyes when I asked if I could see what the mantel would look like in the sunlight. I understand that it's not in broad daylight when it's eventually in my home, but when I'm buying something that will be the focal point of our home and not the most economical option available, I don't think it's an outrageous request to want to know what the darn thing looks like. My husband later picked up the piece for me and without giving him any insight about my earlier experience I asked how it went and he mentioned that there was a really rude guy that loaded it up for him. We needed a mantle for our stone fireplace, something bold and rustic. We found it at Vintage Timberworks. We picked out a nice piece of reclaimed lumber. As you can see Vintage Timbers never stood by their product. Anyone looking for reclaimed lumber might try Elmwood reclaimed lumber. I had hoped they would do the right thing but apparently not. After I placed my first review I was threatened. Crazy right! I don't want anyone else to experience this kind of customer service. So 700 Sq Ft of flooring $16,000 dollars later sub standard floors. My contractor bought vintage lumber from them for our vanity it was great. The floors too big of ticket item to look the other way. They need to replace the boards as necessary at their cost. read more

I have been here several times and their material is really cool. However, i never feel welcome when i come. As warm and cozy as the little office in the house feels the staff is the complete opposite. I am sorry that the other few good reviews got filtered, but i stand by mine. The guy who drives around in the golf cart is so cold and unfriendly. The girls in the office are fine but overall there is just an uncomfortable vibe and no one goes out of their way to be extra nice or accommodating. For the crazy prices of the wood, i would expect a little better service. read more

Asked if I could exchange, they said no you can't. Problem is folks is you pick super expensive material from their showroom. That's not what you get. Haven't done business with these folks, but the amount of stock they have on hand is impressive, their showroom beautiful, and pictures of the work they've done just amazing. I was looking for barn siding floor, which they have for approximately $10/sq ft. Yes, that's expensive - but the product you get is the real deal and unlike anything you can get anywhere else. I can't say enough about the great customer service at Vintage Timberworks. I came in with my husband right at closing time and Nikki kept the office open for another half an hour showing us samples and answering all of our questions. I came in today to pick out and purchase wood for out BBQ island. Jim and Vince helped me pick out the wood I needed. They were both super helpful and even helped me load and cut some of the wood that was too large to transport. I have walked the yard many times, seen every aspect of their business, from the phone calls to Nikki, Dennis and others, to the search in their yard, to the purchase of stock merchandise and special ordering of handmade beams, to the pick-up and even delivery of the product. (BTW...How can someone like this place and give them a 4 star only because you didn't purchase something??!! Nice job Yelp explaining to people how to rate a business.) Really unfortunate feelings on this one, as they're the only ones in SD county that have a decent amount of reclaimed wood on hand. Basically boils down to this: super high pressure sales, nickel and dime approach to squeezing every penny out of you, not open on the weekends (which makes the trip to Temecula even more fun), rude, combative, and just not worth the time or the overpriced fee for the wood they have. I'm bitter overall about this place because I really wanted to love them. read more

So, you're thinking of sprucing up your home with some cool wood from Timberworks? Buyer beware. They "fumigate", but don't "treat" for termites, and nothing is guaranteed. We purchased a $700 piece of wood as a mantle and 8 months later are spending $400 to treat it for termites. It's disguising. So, no help from them either. They don't guarantee their product. I researched timbers for almost 8 months for new construction and am so glad I went with them. We ordered box beams, a mantle and timbers for 2 room openings and we could not be happier. We have used Vintage and their corresponding team on many high-end, custom projects, where they have always been on-time, on-budget, and they do what they say they are going to do. Their prices are competitive, and they have the appropriate knowledge to get you the right material (which they have on hand fyi). We have been to Vintage Timberworks many times and done a lot of business with them. The material is really cool. We love picking up vintage wood for construction/art projects. They are a little off the beaten path from our location but worth the drive all the way out there. A little pricey compared to other vintage timber yards but I think the fact that they gas their pieces for termites/pests before they are sold has something to do with it being a little higher than other places. The administrative staff inside are nice but some of the other staff are hit/miss depending on their mood. They can seem a little cold. Sometimes your treated like you're getting in the way of their daily business even though you are required to make an appointment. The people that work in the yard want you to re-stack and clean up all wood that you sort, which seems a little over the top to expect the customer to move all the wood around by hand without assistance when they own the heavy equipment. That area of the business could use some improvement. Overall, the experience is okay and worth it for the quality pieces you can find. read more
