So I walk down Division Street often, but somehow never noticed this spot. Ended up going in one Sunday afternoon to grab a hot dog. It was exceptionally clean inside, and the people who were working there were all v friendly and welcoming. I was walking in the street and I found VinnyD's. It was actually my first time and I just pick their Italian cookie gelato and their Italian beef with spicy homemade giardinara. The staff was polite and friendly they greet every customer with smiles. My order was ready in a quick. The sandwich is hot and freshly cooked. The gelato has a nice portion. I enjoyed the food while seating in their patio and watching the street. The sandwich is delicious the beef is cooked properly and it has a very nice flavor. The gelato is good too but it was not enough for me that I can't stop myself to buy another. It was such a great place. Good food, good people and has authentic Italian foods. Been to this place a few times now and I think it's going to be an institution in the neighborhood. The Italian beef and homemade giardiniera is fantastic. Fresh Turano bread and very flavorful au jus ... top notch Italian beef (and I eat a lot of Italian beef). I've had the Chicago dog as well and it's spot on. Great, crisp fries and fresh bread. The young gentleman who took our order was extremely friendly and passionate about their gelato, encouraging us to grab samples on our way out. We split a traditional Chicago dog (just needed a snack - we were getting hangry), and it was great. The gelato was super tasty too. Went here to try their Italian beef and waffle fries. I'd say it's pretty good. Staff are nice, especially the owner. Friendly and welcoming. When I went here, TJ was the cashier, this young man is a future entrepreneur, he knows how to handle customers. I literally forgot my wallet in the car, he was good enough to allowed me to come back, not knowing if am coming back or not. Lol! He also let me try their homemade giardiniera. Man it was good. I ordered Italian cookie gelato. Italian cookie gelato was so yummy. The sweetness of it was perfect for my taste. Its cold and soft that can make my mouth watering. I ordered a small size gelato and the person there gave me a medium size I thought he was being nice until I realized he charged me for a medium size, I didn't complain about it, I even tipped him despite the service wasn't good. I thought it was an innocent mistake but my friend told me same happened to her. Went there last night to get some Italian ice. I ordered a medium Watermelon and a medium Kiwi Strawberry. Paid around $11 and change. Walked away from window to the car. After two spoonfuls we both realized it wasn't real homemade Italian ice. It has freezer burn and was all sorts of gooey. Simply disgusting and so disappointed. We both through them in the garbage. This place is a neighborhood gem. With very little fast casual options on Division, Vinny D's is a much needed place. It's great to grab something quick to eat or something sweet. I love that they have so many frozen dessert options: soft serve, gelato, Italian ice, sno cones, and milkshakes! They have delicious "Vinny Spinnies" which are soft serve blended with a topping. These are my favorite along with the milkshakes. The Italian beef is also incredible. They also are so accommodating to dogs and give my dog something whenever we're there. My Boyfriend and I have been waiting the arrival of Vinny D's since they put up their "coming soon" a year or so ago. We went Saturday and Tuesday ( it's that good!) We found VinnyD's last summer mainly for the authentic Hawaiian shave ice. While in Chicago again this year, we went back twice. The Italian Beef is excellent and the gelato is to die for. Vinny is friendly and runs a great little restaurant. We highly recommend making this a stop for lunch or desert. I haven't found shave ice this good outside of Hawaii. We've been to VinnyD's twice since they opened and both experiences have been great. The owners are awesome and super friendly. Division Street needed a place like this. The outdoor patio is nice and the best part is there is a walk up window so you can bring your dog and not have to go inside. Last time we went the owner gave our pup a free sample of ice cream. My husband and I were looking for a good place, but quick, to grab a beef sandwich at tonight in the neighborhood. We had heard about VinnyD's so we decided to give it a try and we were blown away! The customer service was above and beyond, which is so hard to come by these days. The shop was spotless, which is a must with my OCD personality. We both had a beef with mozzarella, and one with sweet peppers and one with giardineiera. The giardineiera was amazing and the Italian season mix topped it off.
