Very Important Pets did a good job grooming my dog, but were unnecessarily rude and insulting in a misunderstanding about cost.

I was really impressed with this grooming facility! Upon entry I was greeted and so was my dog! She was very happy to be there which was a shock so that was a relief. They were very professional and did a great job on the groom. We will definitely be returning with the other dogs and recommending their services as well. Parking is very easy for this facility! They offer drop offs for working parents, and they are open late which is a plus. They also have dog sitting/boarding and a selection of treats and toys to choose from! Highly recommend. read more

Do not use this service. We brought toys and puzzle treats for our dog to have while he waited in the kennel for his grooming, and when we came to pick him up, the haircut was fine- but they charged us over 2 times the price we had discussed prior, and then noticed the bag of toys and puzzle treats for him was untouched and just sat in a bag beside his crate... for four hours. So he just sat there for hours while the toys and such that we packed sat pointlessly in a bag two feet from him. Because of carelessness and aloofness on the groomers' part. So yeah- when we were told we owed over double the price aforementioned- it made the decision plain and easy that we will never be returning for these services. We've been bringing our dog here to get groomed for over a year now and the staff have always been the friendliest and have always done a great job. This past time we had a horrible experience and will NOT be returning. Their set drop off times are 8-10am and I dropped off my dog at 9am. I called at 3pm and they said they hadn't started on him. So why did I have to bring him in so early?! He was done at 5pm and it should not have taken 8 hours. No food, water or bathroom breaks. This is cruel. read more

We took our whoodle here to get a light trim and they took 9 hours and gave him he worst haircut imaginable. I showed a picture of what we wanted him to look like and he turned out like this. They said they would leave his hair long on his head, not touch his ears and keep his body hair as long as possible. When we arrived they tried to tell us this is what a wheaten terrier looks like and that it will grow back. Having had wheatens my entire life, I would have to beg to differ. Never take your dogs to Vinings Important Pets. Ever. I'm late writing this review but I just heard another* horrifying story from a dear friend and feel inclined to report my experience. My personal experience was taking my two dogs there and after detailed instructions, they did not* follow what I asked them to do. Not only did they not do what I asked of them, but when I asked for corrections in grooming, Colleen responded, "so you're going to take her personality away?". ..uhh, no, I just wanted her to have a shorter hair cut. What kind of response is that? After a fully botched correction cut, my dog was returned with cuts and now scarring from her traumatic grooming experience. Really upsetting to say the least. I'd also like to note, the environment where they take the dogs out is absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. Being in an upscale neighborhood with a name like "Vinings Important Pets" doesn't mean anything! As a local Vinings resident, I will NEVER take my dogs back (that was easily decided after the last visit) to this groomer. Message me for some seriously awesome groomers to use instead! read more

This place absolutely traumatized my dog. She has never had a problem with going to the groomer ever in 4 years. When I came to pick her up (which she is usually so excited to see me & gives me so many kisses) but this time it was like she just wanted to get the heck out of there. After a day & watching her be not herself I looked at her more closely. Her skin was bright red, she had a Knick in her leg, & was burned all over her paws. Hot trimmers & poor washing. VIP, or Vinings Important Pets is a small business in Vinings, GA that is outstanding. New to the area last summer, I'd gotten a puppy & knew no one to pet sit when I travelled. A neighbor highly recommended VIP. I was reluctant to leave my new baby there. Well! It's over a year later & Linus is a regular there now! It's Clean! Staff is friendly & try to be very accommodating! They will groom your furry baby while you're away or by appt. They do a nice job too! They do Day Care if you just don't want your baby alone all day. $28 a day, I think. I use this business frequently as I don't know anyone to pet sit, & too nervous to have a stranger come inside my home when I'm away. What is this about cuts and scabs that you find after a groom? Three westies ago, I noticed a deep cut in the side of my westie and pointed it out. They said he had a "boo boo" and proceeded to put bactine ointment on it and told me to always use bactine! I was entirely too trusting. My poor dog - what he must have gone through. I didn't take him back much after that, as he died peacefully in my arms from something else. I've read the posts about "cutting and scabs" and I knew that was what happened to my precious dog. As I said, I was a "trusting" customer who had seen Collen take sick dogs to a 24 hr. vet facility and stay with them. She most definitely cared for dogs and not their human owners. This is great when you leave your dog in their care, but it went too far one day when Colleen yelled at me in front of her employees. I got stuck in traffic and was 10 minutes late for my dog's grooming appointment. She really lost it. Right then, I knew I was never returning with my dog; and, I was definitely not giving her any more of my money. I had been a long-time paying customer for many years who was also "trusting" at the time. I am thankful for the posts about the "cuts and scabs" that helped me figure out what had happened to my dog. I feel so badly that I left my dog there for grooming and daycare all those years. To think, when I walked out the door of Vinings Important Pets, I was leaving my beloved dog in the hands of someone who was going to cut and hurt him and he couldn't tell me. I was referred here by my vet last month and made an appointment for Thanksgiving week so my little guy would look nice for the family. When I called to make the appointment the receptionist gave me a time slot and said she'd look forward to seeing us the next week. She then called me back twice to confirm details about my dog I had already given her. I thought that was strange and seemed unorganized, but I read the good reviews and decided she was probably having an off day and I should keep my appointment. When I took Winston the next week, we showed up on time. I walked him inside and was immediately thrown off. It smelled... horrible. It was completely dark, no lights on anywhere. We were "greeted" by a person at a janky table who put a piece of paperwork in front of me and said "fill this out". While I was filling out my paperwork I heard a lady in the back yelling at all the dogs to "shut up! shut up!" It honestly made me SO uncomfortable. I turned right around and walked out the door. I would never leave my dog in a place where he isn't greeted and treated with care immediately. I will say, I never made it to the grooming process so for all I know they give great cuts- but not at the expense of leaving my dog with crazy people. read more

Today is the last time I'll take my Bichon Nikko to VIP. We used to come here years ago before moving to Chicago. Colleen, the owner was great. My sister and brother in law used them for years for their Bichon Magic. Nikko and I just moved back from Chicago and I immediately went back to VIP. What a big mistake. This is the 3rd time I've taken Nikko here since we've been back and this is the 3rd time I've been disappointed. They don't follow directions and they don't listen. Today I specifically told Colleen how I wanted my Bichon Nikko groomed but she did what she wanted to do. Not what I asked. And when I brought it to her attention, she wanted to argue and that I didn't tell her what I wanted. Since she was rushing me, she clearly wasn't listening. I even called back to reiterate how I wanted my dog groomed and nothing that I asked was done I am very disappointed and dissatisfied. Colleen probably takes for granted her clientele since she's been in business for a very long time. But I won't be taken for granted. Especially when there are other groomers who are better and actually take the time to listen to their customers. Nikko and I will not be back to VIP. I will not recommend VIP to anyone. We use VIP for boarding and grooming our toy poodle, GG. I believe that the rates are very reasonable, and the entire staff does an excellent job. We boarded our 2 dogs at Vinings Important Pets when we went out of town in June. We requested that our dogs be walked each day. We called daily to check on them and every time we were told the dogs were "doing fine." When we picked them up 4 days later, our female Border Collie had a strip of hair, approximately 3" wide x 7" long, missing on the top of her back behind her collar. We were told by Vinings Important Pets that our small Jack Russell Chihuahua mix kept jumping on and biting our tall Border Collie. This made no sense, our dogs have been together for 5 years and get along very well. A visit to our vet confirmed that our Border Collie had had an allergic reaction and that was why she lost her hair. Had Vinings Important Pets walked our dogs every day--a service we paid extra money for--they would have noticed that she had a rash and was scratching her back. The rash was very obvious, along with the loss of fur. This was the reason our Border Collie's hair came out, not for the ridiculous excuse they made up to explain why her hair was missing. Clearly they did not walk our dogs nor check on them as they claimed. Vinings Important were responsible for our dogs' well-being and failed. We will not be taking our dogs to this business ever again. read more

Any reviews that are negative are completely untrue! A friend recommended this place and Coleen in particular for my yorkie lola! I am in love love with her hair cut. Coleen made her look amazing and did exactly what I wanted! I took Lola to town and county and they totally fucked up her hair up and did not thing of what I asked . I was a little worried about trying a new place but since she was recommended I did and I am so glad I did! I have given this place many chances, but each time they have failed me. I boarded my German Shorthaired Pointer here for two weeks in January, and when I picked him up they gave me half of the food I had carefully measured out for his extended stay. His collar that fit perfectly when we dropped him off was too loose when we picked him up.( we took the collar with us and did not modify it) The owner, Colleen said that some of her employees don't know how to read and they were giving my dog "House food" at nights. This is not ok for my puppy, switching his food like that can make him sick. I gave this place a second shot for boarding while we were at the beach and took our Frenchie and our GSP there for five days. When I picked the boys up this morning, my GSP had not been given a bath like I asked, he was just given a "wipe down" The receptionist said it looked like I had called to cancel the bath, why would I do that? When I brought the boys home they both had to go potty, but if the dogs had been walked that morning they would not have needed to go potty so bad. The dogs were also fighting over the water bowl which is also not normal for them. When I spoke to the owner she was very defensive and said "mistakes happen" Don't take your dog here unless you want them to be mistakenly mistreated. read more

I adopted two chi's in November 2013 and because of my crazy travel schedule, I needed a safe and reliable boarder that was close to my Vinings home. I have been boarding my dogs with VIP now for almost 4 years and they also take care of the grooming for my cat. Colleen and staff are absolutely WONDERFUL and my pups literally dance when they are being dropped off. Additionally, they do an amazing job with grooming my cat, who is long-hair angora and needs a lion's cut every 4 months. I just want to let everyone know that this is the worst dog groomer I have ever been to! I took my 1 year old toy poodle Starbrite here for a groom after moving out of the city to smyrna and asked for a standard poodle cut tight around the legs short on the body and long on the head and ears. Simple enough I would have thought but what was done to him was the exact opposite, they shaved his entire body and did not follow my directions at all. After seeing starbrite I realized that they must have not ever groomed a poodle before. I will never take any of my pets here again and if you Love your animal you would not either. read more

My beautiful standard poodles ears were brutalized by this place. They ripped both of ears with a dematting comb. She started having seizures, the next time I took her back.she was trying to tell me how much pain she was in and had been. The owner did not attempt to get to the bottom of this and find out who caused the damage after I called her to tell her this. She had witnessed the seizures. Her ears are permanently damaged.
