It's a lovely view of the city scape and boats in the harbour and you can enjoy your breakfast up on the deck of the converted waiting hall / shipping container, or on a lounge by the water. This time we opted for the couches and made friends with a nearby diners French bulldog. It's certainly a dog friendly spot. You can also sit inside if the weather isn't suitable with beautiful styling, nautically themed with blue striped cushions, decorative ropes and anchors. We loved this place last time, so we were keen to try their new menu. The menu has a more varied amount of choices at brunch. There's sweets, salads and some regular and ever popular choices. The mozzarella with avo, perfectly place on sourdough with greens and pomegranates, heirloom tomatoes and and a soft poached egg was beautiful. The roast pumpkin salad with grains, Persian feta, heirloom salad, avocado, confit onion, Pepita dukkah and herbs is the kind of dish I'd enjoy every day. Super healthy and refreshing and the pumpkin was perfectly cooked. For a sweet finish, we really liked the poached pear on brioche, toast with salted caramel, passionfruit cream, candied pistachio and lemon zest. We imagine this will be a very popular menu item.

Maybe it should have been called chips and fish. The salad was again lovely but little short on the primary ingredient. We were in early for the lunch service so can't be put down to running out of the day's ingredients. Overall, nice views, friendly but not over bearing service, mean meals with an overly high price tag for what you get. Understand costs have risen - however when compared to the delicious fish and chips I had in North Sydney later that night whcih had 3 very large pieces equally well cooked with plenty of chips and fresh salad, it seems to put it all into perspective (there was so much I had to share!!) Finally - note this restaurant charges a surcharge for any credit cards, however there was not easily visible notice by their till when you go up to pay, and we were not advised when going to pay with credit card. These notices need to be bigger and more proactive but staff so there is no doubt. We found out only when the money was taken.

The restaurant and its surrounds were dainty and relaxing, and with outdoor seating you're given the opportunity to really soak in the peace. Noise level is a minimal. On our arrival we were warmly welcomed and quickly attended to. We sat inside where it was warm, dry (raining out), and it smelt absolutely lovely. We were soon served Pumpkin soup with creme fresh and pancetta, which as full of flavour and great first course starter. This was followed by their duck foie gras that was very generous in size and looked and tasted amazing. Third course to follow was seared scallops on a bed of cauliflower puree. This was the dish of the night! It was plate-licking-worthy! Cooked to perfection. Next course, 4th on the list, was duck breast. Perfectly cooked, succulent and flavoursome. Lastly was the dessert and this was the only let down, primarily because it was a cold dish. Given the season is winter, it would have been nice to have a warm dessert. This could have been easily achieved had they heated through the bread and butter pudding and heated the creme anglaise. The dessert itself was large and tasted nice, but it just wasn't the perfect end to the four courses ahead of it. We ordered a lovely French bottle of wine and on settling the bill was served really lovely handmade petite fours - little chocolate and pistachio bites. Very nice. The wait staff were all lovely, attentive and French natives. In all, we thoroughly enjoy our dinner here and look forward to returning.

I came here to get some deli meat for sandwiches during our stay but left with a full heart and excellent memories! The first visit, I arrived around 10:30AM on a Saturday. I had to wait in line only like 45 minutes! Talk about popular! The second visit, I arrived around 8:30AM on a Saturday and didn't have to wait in line but for 5 minutes! Woohoo! Almost everyone was getting these massive custom sandwiches on focaccia with fresh sliced Italian meats, fresh cheese, marinated veggies, arugula and much more! They are HUGE! I just wanted the deli meat so I could pair it with fresh sourdough bread I got elsewhere since it's better for my messed up digestive system. No problem! Mortadella with olives or black pepper? Yes! Salami? Yes Bresaola? Yes I also got marinated mushrooms, spicy olives, artichoke hearts, and tomatoes. All are FANTASTIC! But, it's the staff and the clientele that make this place special. Sam recognized me on my second visit and asked me, after I got my food, if I'd like a coffee... Espresso please! Then, he invited me to stay a while. I realized they have real imported Italian pasta made from Italian wheat which is not a common thing to find. I got two boxes! Joe explained these are imported from Sicily with Sicilian wheat and they also have pasta imported from Napoli made with local wheat! I got that too! They also have numerous other imported items like Panettone, pesto and much more! Customers joined in the enthusiastic conversation to tell me how awesome Raineri's is since I was obviously a (American) tourist and a new guy! I love the enthusiasm! They all asked me why I was there and I explained I was in Sydney for my 35th wedding anniversary! The unhurried conversation flowed. I can't wait to return! It's family owned and has been for a couple of generations by the Raineri's. It's an established amazing deli. The place is crowded, bustling and filled to the brim with imports from Italy and local Italian products. On the tour we were treated to platters of olives, salami, prosciutto, chicken, octopus, cheeses, bread and olive oil. They even made a pasta right at the counter using their very own homemade lemon pasta,with a bit of cheese, parsley and olive oil. Now I don't know that much about Italian antipasto, although I like to think Bay Cities in Santa Monica is the southern California authority, but I can safely say Raineri's blows Bay Cities out of the water. Their prosciutto melted in my mouth, I have never had anything even close to it in the States. The cheeses were out of this world, especially the ricotta; I could have eaten spoonfuls with nothing else. I bought some of their asiago and a dozen slices of salami home, which I ate the rest of my time in Sydney. Stellar!!!!!!!
