Excellent night at Proud Richard's!…read more Start to finish, we enjoyed every minute. My wife and I try to go every time we visit from out of state. We made it for their Thursday deal on appetizers. We split the Mac & Cheese, Arancini and the Squash Carbonara entrée. The meal was spectacular. The food, as well as drinks, were all so flavorful. I consider myself to be a "Foodie" and the presentation was really great. Our server really took great care of us. We finished the night with amazing Pumpkin Crème Brûlée and it was something I'll remember for a long, long time. The team at Proud Richard's always treats us like family and we will keep coming back.

We were tucked into a corner and although the server was friendly- she was busy- and I think she may have forgotten about us. The lunch crowd certainly skewed to an older demographic. My dining partner had the BLT that has what looked to be homemade chips as the side. I went with the burger- which comes with steak fries. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't special in any way either. We had sodas and the bill was less than $30, so it's a relatively inexpensive lunch. If you are going out with your parents or grandparents this might be a solid choice. I'm giving it three stars because it was average- not bad- not exceptional.

When we pulled up and the owner, (the owner!) immediately came out to help us, I was delighted. He found out what reservation we had, to helped us get in, get settled, etc. From that point on, everything was perfect. The food was spectacular- the drinks delicious (blackberry lemonade was really good) - we had appetizers (crab cakes, sliders, eggrolls, Caribbean shrimp), all delicious and main courses of sea bass, lobster, sushi, tuna, pasta and pork medallions. Everyone raved at how delectable the food was. Marvelous! But the real winner was the service. Our server was Gio(?) from Italy(?). FANTASTIC! Water was never empty, food out hot and on time; drinks topped off (or reordered if alcoholic). Very attentive, very sweet. And again, the owner really stepped up - checking on us repeatedly, helping my husband whenever it was necessary to navigate through the restaurant. Unbelievable service! And the food is wonderful, but having been several times I already knew that; it's why we picked to go there in the first place. The best part was it really made my husband's night. For someone who literally does not get to go out - ever - this was really, really special for him, made just so much better by everyone at PAO. Thank you so very much!

The upstairs seating area is especially lovely and creates a great atmosphere for a relaxed dinner or cocktails with friends. Speaking of cocktails, every one I've tried has been excellent. For appetizers, the Truffle Twists were outstanding. The swirl fries with truffle salt and rosemary crème were absolutely addictive and a must-order. The Holla-Peños were another winner--fresh jalapeños stuffed with creamy brie, goat cheese, and mozzarella, then topped with blueberry compote and a honey-thyme drizzle. It sounds unusual, but the combination really works. The Caesar salad was also very good, with crisp romaine, bacon, housemade croutons, pesto Caesar dressing, parmesan, and shallots. The only dish that missed the mark for me was the Steak & Poblano Peppers. The flavors were fine overall, but the steak had a slightly odd smell that made me hesitate, and it wasn't something I would order again. That one dish aside, I've consistently enjoyed my experiences here. Creative menu items, excellent cocktails, a beautiful upstairs dining space, and several standout dishes keep me coming back. I'll definitely return.

(Hubby asked to bring one home) Sure! did I want it warmed up? I told her no, that was ok, I could just warm it up when I got home. I assumed it was a dessert and not an issue; I didn't even think about it. She packed it up for me and I wouldn't have known anything was amiss had my friends not wanted to see it. I pulled it out and to our astonishment we learned it was frozen solid. I asked our server about it. She said she'd find out how I was supposed to "warm it up." She came back and told me bake it at 350 for 15 min. Hmmm. I bake and this thing looked like it needed to rise, but ok, if that is what I was supposed to.... It was not what needed to be done. Baking created a hard shell around a dough ball with blue goo on top. Nothing red or white about it, btw. Seriously, though - why not just say we don't have any made? It really put a negative spin on the whole evening which, until that point, had been great. Service was wonderful, btw. And the ambience was fantastic. Loved it! Not the goo ball, though. That I'll give a hard pass.

We were here for a Saturday lunch and pretty quiet overall but a very festive atmosphere. The food here is excellent. Best Mexican food in Springfield I've had. The queso dip is amazing. Seeing my mother get excited about any food is always good. I got the enchiladas Veracruz which had shrimp and a smooth creamy green sauce. Very good. My brother got the camaron à la Diabla which I got to try a little taste and it was spicy delicious. Mamacita got the combination #2 which was two crunchy beef tacos and beans instead of rice. She cleaned her plate and made a good dent in the queso so we were very pleased. This restaurant got our mother's stamp of approval so definitely will be back. Again I can't express enough how happy I was that Ramon spoke Spanish with our mother. You don't know how much it means to us. thank you!!

They have a great selection of salads, appetizers, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, and entrees. They also have an option of gluten free bread for the burgers/sandwiches and a gluten free crust for the pizza. My gluten free "Saved by the Beef" was awesome. It was basically a Reuben and I loved it. It could have used more sauce, but the meat made up for the flavor. The gluten free bun was decent. It did crumble under pressure, and became pretty soggy. But they did butter and toast it. So the flavor was great. Honestly I'm just happy they had the option The table loved the onion ring tower. The green goddess dipping sauce was well loved. We had looked up a few places and this had decent reviews and a parking lot (something I care about as a terrible parallel parking guy). My wife and I are in our 60's so the 90's theme worked for us, looking around at the various decorations was a nice nostalgia trip. They really captured the color palette and the font styles from the era. Our server Trever was very good, great personality, accurate and attentive just enough. The food came out correctly and in a decent amount of time. They were a little busy when we first came in on the table end of lunch rush. We both got the single smash burger. They were well executed and a two patty would have been a bit too much I think. With the fries and couple of her onion rings on board that last bite of the burger was a commitment to not being a quitter. They have a three patty and that has to be for those you tube pro eaters or the big hearty mid-western kids who will toss hay later in the afternoon. The bathroom was clean and everything worked, the overall place seems well maintained. There is good spacing between the tables and chairs. The pricing is in line with a mid size town, and our current economic environment. We spent a little north of $60, two meals, iced teas, and a decent tip. If we were in the area again, would likely come back and try some other dishes. I think if you are local and haven't been to many places it shines a bit brighter.
