My friend and I were in Rome NY to see Linda Cunningham's stunning "Divisions " at the Griffiss Sculpture Garden and ended this day with a wonderful dinner at the Vine and Fig. We sat outside on their pleasant patio (dogs welcomed there) and had a fabulous dinner accompanied by a tasty Austrian Weißburgunder. The star of the meal was the delicious rutabaga apple cream soup! I could eat that every day and be happy. Creamy, great depth of flavor yet subtle... that soup alone might have made the drive from Vermont to here worth it. Also delicious and fresh tasting, the tuna tartar and the pork Milanese. The service was also excellent! Too bad we are here only one day; I'd love to have dinner there again tonight! read more

Met a friend for dinner on a Tuesday night, ended up sitting at the bar as they were packed! We split the tuna tartare for an appetizer and from there I had the traditional mussels, she had the shrimp boil. All the food was fantastic! The guy sitting next to us at the bar said the grilled cheese is to die for - it looked good but the other stuff one the menu looks so good, I would probably not go that route. We'll be back with a bigger group to do a tapas night! read more

Holy Smokes what a Find!!! Been chillin' here in Rome off & on since April. Whenever I ask folks what they got to eat around here they're all "We got Pizza?". I love pizza but as a Los Angeleno transplant I have a lil trouble going out for pizza EVERY time. "What do you guys do for Sushi? Korean Barbeque? Ramen? Taco Trucks?" "Well what about this Vine & Fig joint? Menu looks adventurous enough?" "Oh yeah, that just opened up. Been wanting to try it." Dude....? I get charcuterie every place that serves it. Vine & Fig's is in the cotton pickin' pocket. AND...? They serve it w home made freshly pickled vegetables. Outstanding Compliment to the richness of the cured meats & cheeses. Who does this? They ain't doin' it in L.A....and they should. Beet/Burrata salad was killer w the citrus slices mixed in / vinagrette: Lovely. Excellent restaurant. First time here (they only opened in the last few weeks) and we were very happy with our meal. The service was excellent, the food was too and they also have a full bar with several craft beers on tap. It's not a huge place, but not crowded either. They also have an outdoor seating patio, but the day we went was hot so we opted for inside. It had a nice ambiance and vibe and we really enjoyed it. I found this restaurant by searching for Vegan friendly restaurants near Rome, since my friend who was visiting prefers eating plant based. She was thrilled with the variety of choices that she had to pick from and said it was all delicious! My husband had the chicken milanese and I had the shrimp and grits. Tired and hungry after a 4-hour trip on I-90 all the way from Boston, we found Vine and Fig by chance after missing the exit for the place we'd originally planned to go. I'm so glad we did. It's a really special place. The food, including lamb dumplings (daughter went wild for these) and tuna tartare small plates, the burrata salad, tofu banh mi sandwich and shrimp roll were all outstanding. Get the homemade ranch dressing on your salad! Local beers were excellent. Service was flawless and genuinely friendly. Lovely outdoor seating; only the mosquitoes got a little annoying after dusk. We were there on the late side; this probably wouldn't be an issue at other times, and watching the fireflies somewhat made up for it. In my opinion Vine and Fig is worth a special trip if you're anywhere in the general area. We'll definitely stop by again some day! read more

There is a great selection of wine as well as craft beers on tap! An efficient and friendly staff make dining there a real pleasure. Chef Carly is hard at work in her kitchen creating culinary masterpieces for your dining pleasure! One of my favorite is the Seafood Stack sandwich.... So happy we tried this place!! Didn't expect a whole lot but, wow, the food was great. I got the Mediterranean salad. The nuts and grains were perfectly toasty and the lemon vinaigrette well balanced. My California Chardonnay (Raeburn) was oaky and lovely. What I really want to talk about is the traditional mussels, perrrfectly cooked and delicious!! Lip smacking good. I will go back just for the mussels. Go here for the mussels!! My husband enjoyed his red wine flight (a Wednesday night special) and meatloaf with potatoes gratin. Dessert was good and since I have to eat gluten free the chef sent home a small jar of pumpkin custard for me without the shortbread:) that was a nice surprise. Went here for dinner with several friends for a Saturday night dinner. The restaurant had just opened a few days before, and we were really impressed. The service was friendly and prompt, and the food was great. The menu has an assortment of appetizers and snacks, some creative salads and sandwiches, along with some mussels and I believe a few other things as well. The wines were nicely priced, as was the food. It is quite different than other restaurants in Rome, and must have had good word of mouth as the place was full. Went on Friday night, had dessert only. Dessert was very good, although server said it might take a little longer because it had to be heated. It was a peach dessert in pastry with vanilla ice cream. Was not heated at all! Cold! The noise level is unbelievable, cannot hold a conversation at normal talking levels. Only reason I will return is because I have gift card. Unfortunate, because it has loads of potential. The not warm dessert wouldn't deter me but not being able to have a conversation woild! read more
