The fried clam strips are absolutely a must. They are getting hard to find around the country and it is a pleasure to be able to get them when in Utica. They are seasoned just right. The oysters were a bit small, but very fresh and served with wonderful accompaniments. The haddock was perfectly cooked. And everyone at my table seemed pleased with the full variety of this most satisfying menu. Coffee and dessert were very nice. No cappuccino or espresso, but that's not why you come to this delightful seafood restaurant. I will continue to come back when I am in Utica.

The dining area had lots of decorations as you'd imagine the theme was beach like. Started off with calamari and it was very unique - the rings were cut thinner than most places and the light breading really let the flavors come through...definitely fresh and really good. Opted for the deep fried haddock and shrimp special, shrimp were very large and still had bite to them so I have to believe they were very fresh. Beer battered haddock was good - two strips with a nice coating. Took a pic of the dinner but it came out lousy - good reason to return.

Aquavino was near our…read moremotel(Hampton Inn) and was attractively placed on a bit of land between the Mohawk River and the Erie Canal. We opted to try it. The road into the restaurant was a mite tricky to find, but the parking is ample. There is outdoor deck dining overlooking the canal, indoor intimate dining on the lower level and a banquet hall on the street level. The staff was excellent. Our server, Tyler, knew answers to all our food questions, and was pleasant and professional. We ordered the seafood bisque (excellent) and the Soup of the Day-a sausage and bean. Our entrees were Chicken Piedmontese and Haddock Oreganato. Both were very good. Nice dining experience and a place we would recommend.

Charging extra to REMOVE ingredients is ridiculous and feels like a blatant cash grab. There was zero transparency about this upcharge when ordering--no warning, no explanation, nothing. If you're going to charge people more for basic dietary requests, that should be clearly stated upfront. Really disappointing experience. I won't be coming back, and I'd strongly suggest others check their bill carefully--especially if you ask for any modifications.

My spouse had a grape leaves dinner and I had a falafel "gyro", we, both, were pleased with our selections. The rice was made with vermicelli or angel hair pasta, as we hoped, and perfectly prepared, as were the grape leaves and falafel (to my taste, the falafel should be just slightly "crunchy " on the surface).

We arrived around 2:30pm on a Thursday, there was only one other group there. We were immediately greeted and our waiter was super friendly and chatty. The inside is pretty casual, and they played 2000s hits at a good volume. We started with a cup of Turkish coffee... I've never had Turkish coffee so maybe this is standard, but they did not offer cream or sugar. I don't usually like black coffee but it was surprisingly light, and the serving was pretty small so I actually quite enjoyed it. The owner later said it was the brand Utica coffee (which I love). We ordered the loaded fries, which came with taziki sauce, feta cheese, and tabouleh. Usually loaded fries feel very heavy and greasy, but these tasted very fresh. For the main dish, we ordered the Elias Gyro and the Layla Gyro. My pallet is usually more oriented towards lots of flavor and spice, so I found the Layla Gyro to be lighter than I would have liked. There wasn't as much sauce as I was expecting, but it was still very moist. I loved the pickled vegetables in it, but I wasn't a huge fan of the fries. The Elias Gyro was a lot more flavor heavy thanks to the garlic sauce, which was delicious. The meat in both gyros was cooked perfectly. Lastly, we had the baklava. Ive never had baklava before so I have nothing to compare it to, but oh my goodness it was so good. Overall, super positive experience. It's always such a treat to see the owner walking around interacting with customers, and I would definitely go again whenever I want something light and fresh.
