I am giving it four stars though I wish there were a three and a half option. I do like it when I eat there. Let me stress there. To go I do not recommend. The sizes are about half of what you get compared to dining there(price same) and quality about a quarter compared to a salad you get when eating there Hence three and a half stars. When it first opened I really liked it but it has changed somewhat recently. The service has always been good -no issues there- and I do like sitting outside under the big tree -it's nice. Typically I love this place! The Cobb is amazing! However on my last visit our service was terrible. Our server Mike took 15 min to greet us. We were ready to order at that point and he told us to "hold on I have other tables to deal with". Our soup and salads came out at the same time, after we asked them to be coursed. And to top it all off he wouldn't split the check for us. He said "that's too difficult, it would take me too long" and gave us a pen to calculate it by hand. BEST. SALAD. OF. MY. LIFE. I usually enjoy the types of salads with bacon/fried chicken/blue cheese dressing/other various fatty items. Decided to eat healthy for my birthday lunch with my gal pal and definitely do not regret it. It was hard to decide between my usual cobb salad and the omega salad. Waitress recommended the omega salad so I went with it. So much goodness on one plate....kale/lettuce, corn, avocado, tomatoes, PINE NUTS and blue cheese vinaigrette. Flavors were perfectly balanced and it distracted me from the fact that I was eating kale for lunch. If all salads tasted like this, I could be a vegetarian. We went last night and the service and atmosphere was great. It had been raining, so it wasn't too busy. We were really sad that we couldn't go outside to see their beautiful courtyard, but maybe another time. I got their Chop Chop Update, "That Green Drink", and my friend got the Pear Salad. The dishes all came out super quick, and were esthetically pretty, but when my dish arrived, it had a dark curly hair on the side of the plate touching the food. I have long straight blonde hair, so it wasn't mine. I didn't say anything, because I didn't want them trashing/wasting the whole thing, or have them do something worse to it in the kitchen lol So I just didn't eat that side of the plate where it was touching. It wasn't a big deal, because I ended up getting full fast. The salad was big, and if it wasn't for the hair, I would have rated this place higher. I have eaten here twice in the past month. Dined inside the first time because it was raining. Second time on the patio which is nice and shaded because of the big trees. Had good service both times. Definitely liked the salad I had the first time, second time not so much. First time I had the Cherry tart with grilled chicken which was really yummy! The second time I changed my mind last minute and ordered the Cobb. The Cobb was extremely chopped up, to a point I wasn't sure what was what in the salad. It became one big mushy salad. That being said.... I will definitely eat here again. The drink menu looks good with cocktails made with fresh juices. Can't wait to try one! read more

I was visiting Austin (by way of Brooklyn, NY) in early Dec 2018, and stopped in for a light dinner. The wait staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about what was on the menu. Myself and my husband had the Omega Salad with Salmon. It was delicious! The salad was HUGE, it was filling, and not super heavy. A few days later, I realized I left my scarf in the seat. I figured someone took it, but I called the restaurant anyway. They found my scarf and had held on to it. They mailed it Brooklyn, and didn't request that I pay for the shipping! What a rip off! I'm shocked at all the good reviews for this place. I ordered a salad and only drank water yet my bill was over $20. Twenty bucks for a crappy salad!!!? What's worse is I asked for very light dressing and when I got my order it was drenched! Even my friends dining with me tried it and said it was gross. I was starving so I ate it anyway and felt sick later from all the vinegar. If you want a good salad for a decent price try Mad Greens or literally any other salad place. read more

Fantastic atmosphere, food and playlist. I think this is a perfect summer date night spot. The patio is lovely. It surrounds a huge oak tree that is beautifully lit. The only recommendation I have and may of been a mistake on yelps part is the wifi is Not for the public. It comes up on yelp for having public wifi. Another unwhelming experience at Vinaigrette. Every time my husband wants to eat here I dissuade him, but tonight I gave in...and we reminded ourselves why we don't come more often. Again, the only reason I gave 3 stars was because our food was pretty good. My biggest beef with Vinaigrette is the service. How can a restaurant that primarily makes salad, take so long for the food to come out and last night equally as long for a waiter to greet us at our table. Someone else took our drink order but we sat for 15-20 minutes before the waiter came to see us. My husband ordered the Cherry Tart salad and after waiting for our food to arrive the waiter informed us they were out of a key ingredient--the cherries. My chicken with rice soup was nearly flavorless. My salad called "eats your peas" was served without the peas, but I was too tired and hungry and annoyed at that point to say anything (my fault on that one). What a happy find this was! We went here on only a vague inclination of what it would be like, and were so impressed by the mere first impression of the restaurant. It is an absolutely beautiful location--the indoor dining area is spacious, clean, and bright. Elegantly modern, but not uncomfortably so. The outdoor patio area is really wonderful, with a massive central tree and hanging lights and benches. The food itself was great; I was a little uncertain at first because restaurants often struggle to give an amply portioned salad, but Vinaigrette soars in that regard. I got the pear salad, with the recommended flank steak as my protein. It was a hefty size and the steak was excellent, beautifully seasoned and savory. It cut the sweetness of the pears and pecans beautifully. Also, I'm not usually one to like blue cheese, but it worked really well I this particular iteration. A really lovely salad! The only thing that does make it difficult to consider coming here regularly is the price. It is a bit steep as far as salads go (solidly in the 12-20 dollar range, depending on your protein) but the portions are sizable enough that it lessens the blow to your wallet. You can also tell that a great amount of care is put into all of the dishes, and it's evident in the beautiful flavors and presentation. Overall, a really great date spot. Pitiful. They where not busy. It took 20 minutes to get acknowledged and get a glass of water. This is supposed to be a trendy hipsteresque type restaurant. As such, the prices are high for what you get. Therefore, I expect a decent meal. The mushroom soup was microwaved. It looked like dirty dish water with compost. The salad (which is what they specialize in) was 1 dimensional. What that means is they put so much lime on it you couldn't taste anything else but the lime. During the entire time, not once did the waiter bother to check up on me. He did top my water but didn't bother to ask if I needed anything. After toping my glass he proceeded to ignore looking in my general direction. If I was in a hidden table I would understand. But I was outside, smack dab in the middle. I was polite to him and never rude, he had no reason to ignore me. So for 2 shitty salads and 1 hideous looking soup with some of the worst service I have ever experienced I paid a total of 37.52. I will never eat there again. If you are reading and have standards, I strongly suggest you avoid this pitiful excuse for a restaurant. read more
