There is a bar so you are able to order a cocktail with your dinner. It is easy to get in and out, and close to the venue if you're going to see a show at Moody theater. I love coming to Sunday morning yoga at Fareground. They have it outside on the plaza, and it is put on by Swift Fit Events. Fareground is a food court with mostly overpriced food stalls. They have a good international variety, but I will admit that some of the food stalls just don't seem appealing. I went to Shawarma Point this visit, which is probably one of the more cost effective restaurants here. I got a chicken shawarma wrap for $12. It was delicious, and I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. They validate 90-minute parking in their garage if you make a purchase, but I have usually found street parking and walked over. I appreciate how they have clean public restrooms and self-serve water. I have stopped in here before while walking in downtown to take a break from the heat. read more

All of the food smelled soo good here that we ordered from 3 different places (shawarma, tacos, and a Venezuelan place if I'm not mistaken). Everything took awhile to receive, but after having all of that flavor in every single thing we ordered, it was well worth it! This was my first time dining at this food hall (back in November), recommended by a colleague, and it turned out to be a solid experience. Fareground feels similar to an elevated food court, with plenty of options and ample seating. Just keep in mind that it's mostly self‑service--you place your order and bring it back to whichever table you choose. Fareground Austin is a gathering space of food and culture. It is Austin's first food hall located downtown on Congress Avenue. I utilize it more for the culture aspect as I do yoga most Sundays in the outdoor plaza courtyard area with SwiftFit events. It makes for a great shaded meeting space for outdoor community events. They also offer other special events including live music, craft and vendors markets, happy hours and cooking classes. It also has 7 different restaurant options and bars on site. I have been to Ellis, one of the bars. I also have visited Taco Pegaso who prepares breakfast tacos from scratch on a flattop outdoors on Sunday morning. I hope to try some of the other restaurant options in the future. This is a great space for hosting community events. read more

Fareground is one of my favorite spots in downtown Austin when I want options and good vibes all in one place. On this visit, I tried Austin Rotisserie, the French inspired stall specializing in roast chicken. I ordered the quarter chicken with a side of potatoes, creamy Dijon, and salsa verde. The chicken was perfectly roasted, tender on the inside with a crispy, golden skin that had just the right amount of seasoning. The potatoes were rustic and hearty, exactly what you want next to roast chicken. The creamy Dijon added a nice tangy richness, while the salsa verde brought a fresh herbaceous kick that balanced it all out. The food felt elevated but still comforting like a French bistro dish in a casual setting. My experiences with food halls have been mixed, but I'm still interested in checking them out when I come across them. Fareground is probably the most nicely appointed I've come across. It's busy without being overwhelmingly noisy, and there's a decent amount of seating and space. That said, there simply aren't enough vendors here. There are only four restaurants in the main food court area, It's still a cool space and if you're in the area for a conference it's a nice place to stop over for lunch. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. There's a couple of bars too should you need a drink. I went to Little Wu to get some dumplings and they were definitely dumplings, though too crispy and too large and puffy to enjoy the filling in the initial bite. For like fast gyoza it's alright though, filling! The food hall itself looked much more spacious in pictures, it felt a fit cramped in person. I definitely think they intend on guests eating outside, which is definitely okay for a great weather day. It's very clean and cute inside though with kind staff so that was great. I've been wanting to check this place out for a long time. Sadly, when I visited there (about 2 months ago) it seemed like a ghost town. There are so few restaurants that remain in here which is disappointing. I'm sure this was a hopping spot pre-Covid. The food was good that I ordered. My friend enjoyed her food too. I originally avoided this place because I hate having to park downtown. The good news is that they validate your parking in the parking garage. You just need to get a receipt from the restaurant. It's a bit tricky getting out of the garage but heck it was free! I hope more restaurants come back here as I would love to visit again to give it another chance. read more

Found this food hall in austin and it's a gem! I love food halls, reminds me of Europe and New York. Keep in mind, this place is tiny, with only a few places to eat, but I love that it's an incubator for restaurants to start out! I think it's a cute place to meet up at too. Austin rotisserie: I tried the croissant and poulet roti and was unfortunately underwhelmed. The croissant was heavy and had a strange sweet aftertaste, I'm used to light airy and flaky with a butter taste. The sandwich was quite bland + sweet and vinegary for my palette. What I did like was the cute presentation of the croissant coming with a tiny French flag, and the sandwich wrapped in twine! Little Wu Ah so good! My favorites were the taro chicken egg rolls and chicken Shu mai. The spicy beef noodles were great too! I didn't care for the chicken potstickers. read more

This will be short and sweet because I only came here to pick up a quick latte and scope out what type of eats were available. I was staying across the street and the nearest Starbucks was closed, so I left the comforts of my heated hotel room to walk over to Fareground in 40 degree weather with a chilly breeze for a 2-minute walk. There's a nice open courtyard with ample seating outdoors and a grassy area to relax. I'm guessing this would be enjoyable when the weather warms up, but not that day. My interests were piqued earlier in the week when I saw that Henbit had something called Monster Cookie on the menu. I walked by and it looked closed because that area appeared dark with no one attending the station. Womp, guess I can't get that sweet treat. Instead, I headed over the Drink Bar to get a basic cafe latte with one pump Hazelnut. It was $3.50 for a small and $0.50 for syrup. Pretty sure most people come through here for beers or cocktails, but the coffee was decent and hit the spot. read more

For the price, I think you can find much better alternatives. I think this food hall is well designed and probably convenient for people who can walk to get meals for lunch or after work but would not recommend visiting. I love this concept! My out of town friend actually recommended that we grab a late night weekday bite here. Places like these are ideal when there are multiple parties with different likes and hunger levels. My friend just needed a light snack. I craved a post work dinner and didn't say no to sweets either. I enjoyed a burrito (taco pegaso) , matcha cookie (little wu) and iced matcha lavender latte (Henbit). Ignore this review because we visited when things must have been going wrong. The online pre-ordering was wonky on their app, which meant several places were unexpectedly closed but still taking orders while DRINK was open but slammed with complaints from people who were not getting their food from said closed places, like TLV. So maybe call and verify if the place is open before ordering or wasting time getting downtown. Yes, there is complimentary parking available in the garage across the street for 90 minutes, but we had to *ask* for a proper receipt with a QR code. Apparently, you will not get one with takeout orders. Skip this step and prepare to pay for the premium privilege to park downtown by the half-hour. Great looking food court with many options (closed to us tho). We ended up getting appetizers from Little Wu and drinks from DRINK. The potstickers (gyoza) and shumai were yummy and oh so tiny. There is plenty of seating, including a grassy hill to hear the live music outside. Large groups and families with small children might want to sit inside at some of the spacious tables. While having a beer at 'drink' waiting for my food order (from another of your contracted vendors. Who were frankly AWESOME) the barmaid decided to 'cleanse' herself by lighting wood (palo santo?) on fire and walking back and forth, spewing very pungent smoke on patrons. My understanding is that any smoke in public places, especially bars, is forbidden in Austin (Austintexas.gov copied on this, obviously). Do you as a management company have a position on this, or the subsequent actions of said employee? When I stated that I believed that her behaviour was very inappropriate Her reply (four other more confrontationsl responses omitted) was: 'noone has ever complained before' - ie this is an admission of repeated flagrant violation of health code. 'Do you have a specific health condition?'- ie in contravention to health code I was the one who had to justify why burning things in a bar is not okay 'I'm calling security on you' - ie 'I simply do not care that I am so obviously breaking the law' read more

This is a cool idea. We were at The Line across the street for a night and had had a big lunch, so we walked across the street for cocktails and dumplings. The bartender was great and an interesting concept to have iPad service at the food stalls - not sure what to expect but the pot stickers and the soup dumplings at the dumpling place were amazing! The fairgrounds is a great food hall in downtown Austin. I stopped in here on a Saturday night and they had live music going on. Along with about four different spots you can choose from for food and a bar. We went for drinks after dinner and they have daily drink specials.
