I was approved through medi-cal for four fillings and a deep clean . Dr. Vontela hurried thru the whole procedure. She did 4 fillings and the deep clean in 20 minutes. She tore through the deep clean in 10 min and it was extremely painful because she was going so fast . From what I've read this should take 1-2 hours . She clearly only wants the money but doesn't want to put in the work. Id call it a SCAM! I'll go to pearl dental in modesto from now on . Dr vontela sucks but the office staff are awesome read more

All of Dr. Vontela's bad reviews are accurate. I highly recommend you go anywhere else. I had to take her to Small Claims Court for $8,400 of dental work that was improperly done. She retaliated by trying to get a restraining order against me. Both Judges saw through her lies. I was awarded $8,475 from the small claims case and her restraining order was denied. She thinks she is entitled. She will over charge you if she can and look down upon you, especially if you're a medical patient. She's not a good person or a good dentist. In spite of all this, I somehow decided that now that I was a grown man, I'd develop a dental phobia so I didn't have regular visits for a number of years. Unfortunately, I didn't have the most pleasant dental experience at this office. Although the ladies at the front desk are friendly, my experience here was unpleasant and unhelpful. My first appointment, I waited about 40 minutes for the doctor to check over my x-rays, examine inside my mouth, and tell me that I didn't have any cavities then she proceeded to tell me that I in fact did have a couple that needed to be filled, but that I would have to make another appointment to wait for my Medi-Cal to be approved. I didn't mind at first since I knew I didn't have standard insurance and that my Medi-Cal needed to be authorized before it could be validated. But I feel as though that could have been communicated before hand instead of wasting an hour for nothing. I waited over 6 weeks for the authorization to be returned and had to contact them several times on my own to check on the process. I initially scheduled a deep cleaning, which I did not receive when I eventually arrived. I simply had my fillings without a cleaning, something I had never heard of. After my visit, I expected the doctor to inform me to book another appointment for my cleaning, but she walked out without giving me any more instructions or a thorough explanation of what to anticipate next. It was quite awkward, and I had no idea of what was going on. The women at the front desk informed me that my appointment was finished and I was free to go, but I was confused since I had not received my thorough cleaning or an explanation for why I had not received one. I understand that when dealing with private clinics, professionalism cannot always be guaranteed, but as a new patient, I expected higher consideration and care. The doctor herself is kind, but her approach is neither welcoming or comforting. When I first visited I was so impressed. But I hadn't had any work done yet. I went for a deep cleaning, she did not give me one, though she said she did in all of 10min on one side. She only numbed me with gel which I told her I have always used nova Cain and I wanted that. I have NEVER experienced so much uncomfortableness at a dentist visit. She was clearly hurting me and didn't care. I finally yelled NOBA CAIN. She jabbed me with it and proceeded without even waiting for it to take affect. I will never go back there again. Hands down, best dentist I have ever seen. Dentists scare the hell out of me, but I genuinely enjoy going to see her. I'm always so paranoid when going to see a dentist, but she reminds me that I'm in good hands. Not only great communication, but with her actions in how she treats my teeth. She's gentle, and if something hurts, she listens to you, and will do her best to make any pain as minimal as possible. I just really like her, her staff, and the overall clean environment. Not only the worst Dentist I have ever gone to, but it was the worst experience I have ever had with any customer service experience. If I could give 0 stars, I would. First I should start off by saying, the ladies at the front desk along with any of the assistants, are nothing but perfect. They are so sweet and make sure you are taken care of. In the beginning, I read reviews before going to this dentist. I saw some bad reviews but I decided to ignore them with how many good reviews there were. I wish I listened more to the negative reviews, because I have experienced Dr. Vontela not once, but twice in a negative way. Now this was my second time going to Dr. Vontela after 2 years since my first appointment. My first appointment did not go well, but I thought maybe things would be different the 2nd time. I was wrong. The first time, I went in to get cavities filled, she numbed me and when she started to work on me, I could still feel it so I let her know, she then became very condescending to me and made me feel like I was wrong for still feeling pain. She also had made other non professional comments to me like she was glad that I made my own appointment instead of my mother calling in for me. She does not know my life situation nor that I do not even live with my parents and hadn't for awhile. She was very condescending and I felt very uncomfortable in the chair. Fast forward to two years later, I have excruciating pain where my wisdom teeth are now coming in. I call around to see if there's any other Dentist's that will take my insurance and can get me in fast. There are none. So I decided to give Dr. Vontela's office another chance. I wish I hadn't. Again, the ladies at the front desk along with all the assistants, have been nothing but amazing. They are so kind and show they care more than the actual Dentist does. One of the assistants that took my X-Rays, she wanted to take X-Rays of my wisdom teeth and with her knowledge, she thought it was very necessary. As soon as Vonecomes in, she tells the assistant in a VERY condescending tone that she will not be giving me X-Rays because she doesn't get paid for it. She then repeats herself at least 3x all while talking down to this assistant. In my experience here, she has never treated her assistants with respect they deserve. Now I have a pretty high pain tolerance but she was so incredibly rough on my teeth, I was in tears. She kept hitting the inflamed spot where my concern was, having no consideration for why I was coming in for an appointment. It took no longer than 15 min of her scraping/cleaning my teeth and then sending me on my way, telling me she could refer me to get my wisdom teeth out or not, that it was my choice. I also have Medical insurance & it only allows me to see a dentist every two years. I'm very disappointed in not only her attitude, but her service and that I now can not get covered by someone else for another two years. read more

After reading some positive reviews on Dr. Vontela, I decided to schedule an appointment with her. The first appointment went well enough I guess, she was nice. The assistant was great, she was friendly and did the x-rays quickly, with little to no pain. Dr. Vontela did the typical consultation during which, she tried to convince me that I didn't have a cavity in a specific tooth that I had inquired about previously, even though my last dentist's x-rays confirmed there was in fact a cavity there and I can physically feel it; she continues to refuse that fact. However, at that point, I left thinking to myself, "hmm maybe I was mistaken about that cavity. Strange...", I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. She ended the consultation with a tooth cleaning, obviously not a deep cleaning since it was the first visit. But even her regular cleaning was half *ssed. She barely did anything during the cleaning and then brushed this coating over a few teeth and called it a day. After which I gaslit myself into thinking "well it's just the first visit, maybe the next one will be more thorough.". Fast forward to the next visit for an extraction: I inform her why I hadn't taken the antibiotics yet and that I would need to reschedule so that I'd be able to take the antibiotics before the extraction the next time. I was polite and rescheduling an appointment is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. Which is why I'm confused by what her reason was for the awful attitude she gave me for it. She began talking to me like I was a child and proceeded to scold me for "wasting her time." She continued on and on about lawsuits and how her time is valuable and then ended her speil with telling me that she's going to refer me out and now it'll take months for my procedure to be approved and that I'm now going to be in horrible pain for months until then. I'm shocked at her rudeness and lack of customer service for a perfectly normal and reasonable request. Mind you, I was polite, punctual, and continued to hold my composure even after everything was said and done. I didn't deserve this treatment and will be going to a different dentist. read more

Best dentist office ever! I came in with a tooth broken in half, and the dentist was very attentive. Due to dental anxiety from past dentists, I was very hesitant. Dr. Vontela is a great dentist. Since I already had an appointment for a routine check up/cleaning, there was no wait. Needless to say, I am very happy with the results. The entire facility is very clean and they are constantly disinfecting and wiping everything down due to the Coronavirus. Only one patient is seen at a time. The dental assistant, Laura, took good care of me and briefly went over my X-rays with me. Later, Dr. Vontela explained them to me with further detail and performed the dental cleaning. She also gave me tips to keep my teeth healthy and a free teeth cleaning pack. I will definitely keep coming back to Dr. Vontela to keep my teeth looking great. read more

My wife and kids HAD been going to see her for the past 2 years, and have had nothing good to say about her! Just yesterday the 2nd of Dec my kids went in for the 6 month check up, and when I went there to pick them up I could see that my youngest daughter was really agitated. I asked what was bother her and as usual she shys away from talking. In the mean time Dr. Vontella come in with my daughters dental bag and with a menacing tone says " YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN YOUR BAG! That kind of struck me as odd. Then with all the audacity she tells me in the same tone, MAYBE IF YOUR DAUGHTER TOOK MORE CARE OF HER TEETH INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT HER HAIR THEN HER TEETH WOULD BE IN BETTER SHAPE! If I could give this place zero stars I would. I just had the absolute worst experience of my entire life at this dental office. I went in for my second visit today waited 40 minutes to be seen. Once I was seen by Vimala I asked about my large cavity who she said before I might need a root canal. I asked if the cavity is so large why would I need a fill. She got angry when I asked her not to fill it. We proceeded with the fillings. I told her after my first shot that would numb me that I was feeling a bit of anxiety since I couldn't swallow very well and felt like I could not breathe which she told me I was being difficult. After a bit she told me you know with you having medi-cal I'm pretty much doing charity work for you because your insurance barely covers the cost for my supplies. I was in shock at what I just heard. I was upset. I was shaking. She was very rude for the rest of my treatment. I even apologized for making things difficult because I was in pain which she did not say anything to. I felt beyond uncomfortable and disrespected. She told me I was done and did not speak to me after that. I was suppose to get 4 fillings and she only did 3 she did not communicate that with me. I only found that out because I heard her tell the super kind front desk girl Ashley. How come my treatment wasn't all the way completed? Why did she not communicate with me?!. I wanted to say something about my experience there but was shaking too much and did not want to cry. So I left. I called twice and wasn't not answered until I finally got a call back. Of course it was a call back from Vimala because she knew how un poorly I was treated I began to ask her if she thought it was okay to tell her patients that they are charity work due to their insurance type I asked her if she thought that was professionally or respectful which she laughed and said I'm not talking about this and hung up on me. What kind of person clicks on a patient who expressed their feelings of being disrespected. She is the most unprofessional disrespectful person I have ever seen in my entire life. I left shaking with so much anger inside of me. I have never been treated so unfairly in my entire life.
