This used to be our go to spot. And we frequented especially during Covid to help support local. But our past few experiences have been so bad we won't return. The latest- we went to pick up 40mins after ordering online. And still had to wait over an hour for it to be ready. We were told 2 people just quit (which is the 3rd time there's bad service and we've been told that so either they're terrible employers or just flat out lie). We ordered 2 pizzas and a calzone. The pepperoni pizza was the only edible item. The calzone was so overdone it was chewy and dry. And barely any cheese. So tonight was the first time that we tried Village Pizza, and we were not dissatisfied, but I would probably order something else next time. The Rice pudding is amazing, don't leave without trying that, probably the best in the world! The Garlic bread with cheese was also really nice. Would get that again as well. For pizza we got the Philly cheesesteak pizza, and while it had an amazing flavor, it had so many mushrooms in it that it sort of turned me off from it. Everything else was good. We've been to the Village Pizza many times before for take out pizza and yummy chocolate chip cookies to bring home but OMG.....tonight we went to DIMITRIES Scratch Kitchen( we've renamed it) and had a fantastic dinner inside the restaurant! Dimitri has a featured a nightly special of 3/4 rack of tender delicious BBQ ribs with coated fries and yummy coleslaw for about $20 and it was OUTSTANDING! Plenty enough for a big guy like me and I haven't' had such good meaty, non fatty or greasy, tender fall off the bone excellent BBQ ribs in YEARS! Evidently it's a new special but man oh man, are these darn magnificent ribs! My partner had the beautifully presented on a handled round ovenproof dish of baked pulled pork macaroni and cheese with a huge portion of delicious home made corn bread. He is a macaroni and cheese connoisseur and said they were exceptional! The pulled pork is smoked right there at the Village Pizza location, very meaty, tasty and very little fat to speak of. They also have pulled pork pizza that I bet is darn good too! The menu is quite extensive with many traditional Italian and some Greek dishes, sure to tempt anyone interested in a wholesome, filling and reasonably priced enjoyable meal. read more

Came in just wanting a slice or two of pizza for lunch. They didn't sell single slices , but the waitress said a small pizza takes ten minutes to cook. Ok, I had time to kill so I said ok. Time and time again, we have had good food from Village Pizza. Their sauce is perfectly sweet and tangy, and we eat here at least once a week. This is a good, basic, local place. Lots of locals eat here. The onion rings stand out (HUGE pile), and the other dishes we had (pizza and spanakopita) were both decent. They don't skimp on the mozzarella for the pizza (nice touch), and they included a little side of pizza sauce with the spanakopita... unusual but not bad. There is nothing pretentious about this place from the food to the ambience. The chef salad with creamy garlic dressing is amazing. The dressing is always on the side so I can add is much as I want and the toppings are plenty. They aren't charging you for just lettuce. The BLT is full of bacon and just the right amount of toast on the bread. The lamb gyro is also absolutely amazing. Add in the fries and oh my goodness it's so good. We love exploring and finding new places to eat in the tri-state area. Once we found out there was a new pizza place in Gales Ferry we had to try. Family friends told us about this place and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the owners used to have a place in Niantic...WHICH WE LOVE! Mouthwateringly delicious home-cooked-makes-you-feel-good kind of food. Friendly service and the cleanest of clean. When we told them we had been to their place in Niantic, they were so pleased and thanked us for trying them at their new location...with a rice pudding. YUMMM. Seriously their rice pudding is like little cinnamon dusted clouds. There are few places who take as much pride in their business as these owners.
