This review is way overdue, but Erica from here is a miracle worker! I needed Pelvic pt after my second child because pain and other things that come with the joys of childbirth. I ended up doing the whole program with her which was fairly priced. Erica helped me out every step of the way, and not once was I given to a assistant. Everyone at the Village is always so kind and helpful too, from the Front desk with Renee, nutrition with Casi, and even Hannah for strength building. They worked on problems and pains I had even before I had kids, and after all was said and done I felt like I used to be before two kids. If you are on the fence about doing pelvic floor pt I would say go for it. You will not regret it and it will help improve your life so much. Ps. I would like to offer my feedback and appreciation for my recent experience with Dr. Justin. The ten sessions I spent with him were not only pivotal in recovering from and working around my two injuries, but Justin was also instrumental in educating me about my body and how to re-integrate my athletic and fitness goals going forward. Justin was exceptionally creative with prescribing the rehabilitation exercises and protocols for my complex situation (shoulder and adductor strains). He updated and adjusted the type and intensity regularly and appropriately, respecting my desire for balancing my desire to continue attending my group classes during the process. He worked collaboratively to identify the mechanism of the origin of my injuries so that I become more mindful of my movements so that I am progressing appropriately and minimizing setbacks. He spent time with me both in the treatment room as well as in the gym areas where he assessed my movements, progress, and searching for any additional elements that might need adjustments or interventions. I now have an extensive repertoire of exercises Justin provided for me during these past few weeks. He regularly sent me photographs of specific exercises and the prescription protocols, depending on whether changes were called for. Finally, Justin's attitude and positivity enhanced my experience. I highly recommend Village Physical Therapy! I started at Village with an 8-week pelvic floor PT program with Dr. Erica. She is professional, knowledgeable, and takes a holistic approach. She always made me feel comfortable and really helped me with my postpartum issues. She also helped me with exercises that would get me back to running safely. After the PT program, I continued on the fitness side with a 12-week small group training program. This experience has been unlike any other program I've done at a gym. All the instructors are knowledgeable and so helpful, providing a very personalized experience even in a group setting. All the coaches go the extra mile to learn your name, even before they've met you, your skill level, and your needs based on injuries, fitness status, etc. I always feel confident that I won't get hurt and that I will get the most benefit from my efforts. This review is for Dr. Justin Lee, Doctorate of Physical Therapy, at Village Fitness and Physical Therapy. But first some background: I began my journey to lose weight and improve my health in April of this year. I had been intrigued by the ads I had seen for Village Fitness and Physical Therapy for some time, so I decided to give them a try. After meeting with Dr. Matt, I knew that VF&PT was a good fit so I joined their Small Group Sessions. Although I was loving the workouts, it didn't take long for me to realize that the arthritis in my knees was preventing me from getting the most out of the sessions. Luckily, Coach Casi listened and suggested I schedule a complimentary consultation with one of their physical therapists--and I'm so glad I did! My luck continued because I was scheduled with the amazing Dr. Justin. After my initial consultation and subsequent evaluation, Dr. Justin determined that the cause of my knee pain could be alleviated by strengthening the muscles in my upper legs. In just four sessions, he taught me several exercises that I could do at home. It's been three months since my first PT session and the results have been incredible! Not only have my Small Group Session workouts improved (deeper squats and lunges), but I'm also walking one hour or more 3-4 days a week--with virtually no knee pain! I was so impressed with Dr. Justin that I asked him if he would be able to help with the pain in my hands and thumbs caused by carpal tunnel and arthritis. Once again, he amazed me with his knowledge and skill. After a few sessions, the tingling in my fingers that I would experience most mornings and throughout the day is gone--and the pain in my thumbs has disappeared too! Today is my last session with Dr. Justin and I am going to miss him and our conversations. I've been to Village PT twice for back problems. Unlike going to a physician who would have given me pain medication and asked me to rest the Team at Village PT helped me correct some issues to solve my problem and correct it. Great concept for treatment here. You will see an actual P,T, NOT an assistant. I repeat NOT an assistant. You will be evaluated and a plan will be discussed with you. You will be held accountable for doing your exercise and giving feedback during your process. It is up to you if you are candid and forthcoming with what is working and what is not. The more articulate you are, the more compliant you are and the more positive you are in the process the more you will get out of it. Now understand that because of their structure this will not have an average cot so you must be prepared to pay what the service is worth. But what is your overall health worth to you??!!!! I started seeing Dr. Erica when I was 31 weeks pregnant and I highly recommend her! She helped ease pain during pregnancy and helped me prepare my body for labor and delivery. This was my second pregnancy and what a difference it was! Dr. Erica helped me better understand my body and the changes it would take to deliver my baby. She gave me exercises to do to prep. After delivery, my midwives commented on how well I did with breathing and engaging the correct muscles during contractions and pushing. They were so impressed by how prepared I was and asked for Dr. Erica's card to give to other clients! I know that every pregnancy and delivery looks different and so much can happen outside of our control, but it was amazing to come into delivery empowered and prepared to work with the natural process that my body needed to take to get the job done. Came in for an evaluation with Dr. Jacob and it was actually fun as well as helpful. Ended up not proceeding with physical therapy (at all) right now but when I decide to get into a regular physical therapy program then I am coming back to these guys right away. I went to see Dr. Erica after having trouble with chronic UTI's and for a postpartum check after having my 4 babies. She made me feel extremely comfortable considering it is such a unique exam. She was kind, informative, and very helpful. So far I am UTI free for the last 7 months, continuing to improve my pelvic floor/etc healing, and build my strength correctly postpartum. Thankful for Dr. Erica and all that she taught me! Highly recommend if you're a pregnant mama or postpartum (I'm 4 years postpartum! I am so excited about my results, my wife is now going to Village PT. And she is getting results that exceed her expectations. We recommend them without reservation. Here is my story. March 2018 I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer and underwent immediate surgery on my upper right arm and upper left leg to remove cancerous tumors. I was relegated to a wheel chair with titanium rods and screws in both my upper left arm and upper left leg. I went through radiation and chemo treatment as well as an autologous stem cell transplant that wiped out my immune system and my body. At the recommendation of my daughter, I started with Village Fitness in mid-January of 2019 and today, on my 66th birthday, I am in better shape and health than during my entire working career. I even road a bike up and down the Huntington Beach boardwalk - the very first time in my life that I've ever ridden a bike at the beach because I felt strong enough and fit enough to try. What a day with my son-in-law and grandson. My resting heart rate is now around 71, down from the low 80s. My blood pressure is now 122/73 vs. 145/78. I have renewed energy. All thanks to the amazing knowledge that resides at Village Fitness. The two doctors of physical therapy know their stuff as do the one-on-one coaches. I am learning about anatomy, the nervous system, how the body works all the while doing exercises that are nothing like high school summer football practice we called "Hell Week." I had a very hard time deciding who this letter was for. I could write it to Dr. Matt, who owns Village Fitness and Physical Therapy along with his wife Nicole. I could write it to Dr. Erik, who works with Dr. Matt, or I could write it to anyone who is truly interested in living a healthy life, even after doctors have shown you test results that have you believing pain meds or surgery is your only option to live a pain free life. Since I was one of those people with results in hand, actually in a very large folder because there were so many, I'm choosing to write this to people who want another option; they don't want to take the risks that come along with surgery, and they don't want to live on pain meds. I hope they see this letter; Village Fitness and Physical Therapy have given me my life back; I'm in charge again and live each day to the fullest! In 2012 I had a spine surgery to replace 2 discs and fuse 3 vertebrae, C5 - C7. I had never had back pain before and was misdiagnosed for months. After finally having an MRI, I was told the damage was severe and I needed a specialized surgery. The problem was that their specialists were booked up for 2 months, so I would have to take pain meds until the surgery. It was an excruciating waiting period that left me on extremely high doses of opiates before I switched insurances and had the surgery 3 days later by a specialist I sought out after learning about his excellent results with this type of surgery. I was left with nerve damage though, because my surgery was put off for such a long time. Please know I only include this paragraph because I want you to know that my physical condition was far from perfect before finding Village Fitness and Physical Therapy. I had also fought with hip pain since 2009 that doctors told me was possibly bursitis (not!) and gave me cortisone injections for. Okay, finally, I have to tell you, I tried the Physical Therapy prescribed by my many doctors over and over from about 2014 - 2018 for my hip and back pain. I went to the doctors that were supposed to be "the best." I was great using those colored bands around my legs to strengthen muscles. They also tried traction and a few other techniques, but nothing worked for my pain. I decided to try strength training at Village Fitness before the Physical Therapy addition, and it worked really well for about a year. Then I started having a lot of hip pain and I gave up. I tried doing nothing for a long time and used pain meds when it got bad. That worked for a while. Last summer I was in a great deal of pain, and my newest MRI's showed "damage" in my hip area, and in my lower spine. I was actually scheduled for arthroscopic hip surgery and had to cancel the day before because of extreme sacral pain. I was told the surgery might cure the pain and it might not, so I was already unsure if I wanted to do it. All of this left me feeling pretty low for quite a while. Before 2012 I had always led a healthy, active life because I knew I wanted to live long and feel good, and I just couldn't understand why all of this was happening to me. Fortunately for me, I called Dr. Matt in March of this year. I actually just wanted his advice since I trusted him and knew he would be straightforward with me. I asked him if he thought I should have the surgery or just use pain meds to live my "best" life. He advised me in a completely different direction. I remember looking at him like he was crazy and remember saying I didn't even consider another option. He said the physical therapy at Village is not like anything you've experienced and we would slowly use different exercises, treatments and breathing techniques to get my body where it should be so I could be pain free. Of course he used terms I have a hard time using and explaining clearly. For a long time I really wasn't sure if any of the physical therapy would work, but I certainly had nothing to lose. It was an extra expense, since my insurance doesn't cover it, but my only other options were surgery and/or pills. I've always been a skeptic, a learned from experience trait, so for a while part of me kept thinking, "Dr. Matt and Dr. Erik are always so nice and so genuine; could this just be another business out to get money." I'm glad my skeptical side was proven wrong! I am not a completely pain free person, but I am in a completely different "place" than I was when I contacted Dr. Matt. He doesn't know it, but before I met with him, I was in tears when I left him the message that I wanted to meet with him. I felt like I had to decide to live in pain and give up on my dreams. Today I have a different mindset altogether. I think Dr. Matt and Dr. Erik should become Psychologists too, since that type of advice has certainly helped me deal with day to day living. I realize that I may never be completely pain free, but they've taught me how to reduce the pain to levels where I don't have to consider pain medications. I've learned to breathe correct read more

When my physical therapy sessions ended, I was unsure whether I had what it took to continue my exercises at home and not overdo it, being that I was recovering from a lot of complications following the birth of my son. Erik suggested massage therapy every two weeks to offset any over exertion. It was exactly what I needed to not only avoid over exerting myself, but also to keep me accountable with my home exercise routine. Keeping my muscles relaxed allowed me to keep up with the physical demands. During the massage therapy sessions, Erik shared valuable insight into nutrition tips, answered health-related questions and also took the time to check in on my home progress and ask questions. Unlike other facilities I've been to, I really appreciated the fact that they were not out to get paid, but rather to genuinely invest in my healing. I also love their patient, natural holistic approach to healing, rather than using abrasive equipment to get the job done. In addition, when I couldn't find a sitter, the staff was more than accommodating by letting me know it was no problem to bring my baby to avoid the hassle of rescheduling, especially when I was experiencing a lot of discomfort. I tried Village Fittness and I like the fact the owners are also Physical Therapist. I had some issues with my knees being real sore. Matt asked me to come to PT session with him and come to find out my knee issues and general balance stems from my Pes Planus (Flat Feet). I joined Village physical therapy and Fitness about three months ago it is the first gym that I have gone to that focuses on fitness,nutrition and personal well being. The small group classes are fun and push you beyond what you thought you could do. I have also had physical therapy with Erik it is amazing how small movements and body alignment can increase your mobility. I am in my 60's and my original goal was to just be able to get off the floor without crawling over to something and pulling myself up. I can now get up off the floor independently and am looking forward to hiking in the Sierra's this summer and Slalom water skiing for the first time in 20 years. I started with Village Fitness in 2016 when they first opened. Everyone there is supportive and really works with you. I had to stop for awhile due to health issue's. I was able to return earlier this year. I had quite a bit of inflammation in my body. I was amazed after a couple of months how the inflammation calmed down and I was able to build up my strength and stamina. I also started having issue's with my right knee. I saw an orthopedic doctor. He told me I might need surgery. I saw Dr. Matt and did four PT sessions with him and my knee has improved greatly. Nicole, who I train with, also incorporates the PT exercises into my sessions. Making the decision to return to Village Fitness was the best thing I could have done to get my body back on track. WOW! Why did I live in pain for so long??? I had some major pain in my shoulder affecting every daily activity. I finally made a consultation appointment with Dr Eric and I was hooked. I can highly recommend Village Physical Therapy. I came in with a knee issue and Dr Erik helped me with that but together we figured out the reason I injured it to begin with was from imbalances in the way I stood and used the muscles of that leg. With a few sessions (which were really fun.. that guy is funny) plus work at home exercises I could do by myself, I was able to overcome my injury must quicker than normally. What can I say about Village Therapy? They are changing my life! When I first started seeing Dr. Erik I could not even put my own sock and shoe on my left foot, and was in so much pain from not being able to move correctly and falls from some underlying issues. I have been so amazed at the customer service here and the knowledge and helpfulness of the therapists. I did a consultation with Dr. Matt to see if he might be able to help me with numbness I've been having since last summer all through my pelvic area, lower back, and thighs. I had been to several doctors, including a specialist, and had an MRI, and none of them had a clue what was wrong with me. I had seen a PT at Kaiser who didn't know what to do with me, and had been to several months of acupuncture with no results. It was so frustrating and I had gotten to the point where I felt almost hopeless, that this was going to be my new normal. On a 30 minute zoom call with Dr. Matt he was able to tell me what the issue was! I have been working with both Dr. Matt and Dr. Eric now for the past couple of months and feel better than I have in a long time. They are both extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The insights that they have given me into my body and the way that I move and breath have been priceless. They are teaching me how to move and exercise so that I don't injure myself, and different exercises that I can do to heal my body and make it stronger. I have seen both (Matt and Erik) the Physical Therapists at Village Physical Therapy and they are both very knowledgeable in how your body is working and should work. The first time I saw Eric I could hardly stand straight up and the pain in my right leg was "10"! It has been a few weeks since my first visit with Eric but after yesterday's session it was determined that I could return to the fitness classes at Village Fitness and for the first time in quite a while my leg did not wake me or keep me up while I was trying to sleep!
