Blueberry pancakes

I love the Village Pancake House! As expected, their pancakes are delicious. My favorite dishes include the big fluffy omelettes and the eggs Benedict (they have great hollaindaise sauce!). The restaurant is run pretty smoothly and the wait isn't too bad even when it's packed.

Food and service is Always consistent and good. Reminds you of the old time restaurants you'd find in small communities. The ambiance is casual but not divey.. and great place for family.

Spinach omelette

First timer ....such a cute! Food was very good...omelette and waffle. And the service was very good.

This place holds such a special place in my heart. It is such a New England home town vibe and the food is delicious!

Food was ok, but the service was lousy, good, but not really worth waiting for them to wake up and get out of bed.

Go where the locals go! Delicious food worth the wait!. The only downside is - You must pay with cash. But they have an ATM inside.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

I think it is. It only has two or three stairs but I thought it might have a ramp entering another way.

Even the coleslaw and tartar sauce were made with care. The servers hustle like crazy. They treat you like good friends. Some diners may have frowned on service. Those girls never stopped, and they smiled and laughed. (Who doesn't need that these days?) It's sea scallop season, so even those scallops are expensive I had to do it. The scallop dinner w/fries and onion strings was a bit over $35, but there were 14 huge, right off the boat succulent scallops. The burgers also looked great. Get on over there.

**Classic local watering hole with solid food and atmosphere**…read more The Chote Pub is definitely a neighborhood spot through and through. You can tell the regulars get priority attention from the bartenders, but we eventually got taken care of too - just be prepared to be patient if it's busy and you're a new face. The food was good with very generous portions that definitely give you your money's worth. Drinks were well-made and hit the spot. We loved the setup for watching football - great views of the games from multiple angles around the bar. **Important heads-up: This is a CASH ONLY establishment.** Make sure you stop at an ATM before you arrive, or you'll be making a quick exit to find one. The vibe here is very much old-school local pub - if that's your scene, you'll love it. If you're looking for something more polished or trendy, this might not be your spot. We enjoyed the unpretentious atmosphere and will likely be back, but it's definitely worth knowing what you're walking into first. Bottom line: Come for honest pub fare, generous portions, cold drinks, and a genuine local experience. Just bring cash!

The staff are friendly and the servers knowledgeable and efficient. The hostess had trouble finding our reservation (my companion was already seated) but it seemed to be quite busy that Friday night. The restaurant consists of quite a few separate rooms and we were seated in one that was not too crowded. (I walked through the bar on my way in and that was hopping.) I had a glass of sauvignon blanc and after studying the menu and consulting our server my companion and I both went for a burger. There was no problem with my swapping out the french fries for onion rings (points there!). The burgers were done exactly to our liking (mine mediume rare, hers medium well). I should have turned down dessert, I was that full, but my companion was willing so we went for it. There was a good selection of typical New England desserts and we finally settled on a blueberry crisp topped with vanilla ice cream which was good but not great (not sure I can put my finger on why, so it may be that I was too full to enjoy it). There is a parking lot although it is not paved so was not fun walking through at the end of a day when it clearly had rained. It also could use some lighting. This is a wonderful restaurant suitable for a special occasion or an ordinary night out. I will definitely be back.

In Ipswich, a small town near Boston, many restaurants were closed on Monday. This place, though a…read morebit out of the way, was pretty good. Fig & Pig Flatbread: I loved the rich sweetness of the figs--it tasted just like summer! Combined with the slightly bitter arugula, the sweet and sour balsamic vinegar, the savory and aromtic ham, and the fermented aroma of Gorgonzola, the flavors were rich and harmonious, like a cool breeze blowing through the still clear blue sea and bright sunshine of late New England summer--instantly pleasant. The flatbread had crispy edges and a soft base; if there were less cheddar, it wouldn't be so cloying towards the end, making it even better. Fish Tacos: Consistent with the ones I had in San Diego, the pico de gallo was a classic, rich Mexican flavor, very much to my liking, just noticeably milder. However, the Sriracha aioli was barely noticeable and lacked spiciness, which was a bit of a disappointment, as I had high hopes for it!

Well beyond "a little char". The brisket was cut strangely thin and was like eating salted beef. In fact everything was too salty. The broccoli wasn't trimmed so all the dirty stem ends were unappealing and I removed them myself. The mashed were way too salty as well. We split a ceaser to start and there was barely any dressing but once we got more it was better. The dressing was fantastic, not a good as the Hart House but still good. Drinks were good and had a good price We won't return.

When you walk in, the place is beautiful- sort of modern rustic chic with beautiful string lights. We ordered mussels and wine to start. Mussels were fantastic. Meaty, flavorful and plenty for everyone. The entree is where it fell short for me. I got the shrimp pasta. While the flavor was there, when I cut into the shrimp they still looked pretty translucent to me. After eating one and cutting up a few others, I felt that they were undercooked. The waitress said they wouldn't cook them more but she could bring the plate back and ask if they were cooked through. My plate came back and I was told they were cook so I sat there pushing soft, nasty shrimp around my plate while just eating spaghetti. My boyfriend asked for a medium burger and it was definitely rare to medium rare. When this happens, generally you offer to bring out new protein cooked again or ask if the guest wants something else but I was just left to feel like I was nuts. Whatever, into dessert. Now for dessert, I thought we'd try the cookies and ice cream. cookies were completely raw ( not just soft) and also not hot and the ice cream on the plate looked like it was pre scooped and refrozen. While I loved the concept of this place. Relaxing getaway where you can just do it all onsite, I honestly would spare yourselves the experience of the restaurant or order fish and chips or fried chicken) and just dine in Newburyport.
