If you are not a quilter and visit this shop, surely you will want to be by the time you leave!…read moreThis was my first visit to The Quilt Studio but certainly not the last as I am interested in learning to quilt myself. They do not offer classes here but the lady working that afternoon was able to suggest another place for lessons. As you can see from the pictures, it's a small shop but carries bolts of fabric in a rainbow of colors, shades, prints and designs. They also sell quilting supplies, patterns, books, thread, notions, etc. Since I'm not a quilter (yet), I have no comparison for the fabric pricing although quilting specialty shops tend to have very quality product made for durability. My purpose in coming here was to drop off a quilt top made by my great-grandmother decades ago and have it finished which is another service they provide. In a few weeks, I can post a picture of the finished product! Again, the person working was great in helping to offer various options and guide my selections since I am a complete novice.

Wow! I was so happy to walk into this little shop; there is a huge selection of yarn here. What…read morereally makes this special is that it's not the wall of acrylic that you would normally see when you go to buy yarn. This is all wool, beautiful colors and textures of wool yarn. Which, you might be surprised, is now softer and less scratchy than most acrylic yarns. Though some of these yarns are naturally at a somewhat higher price point than low-cost yarn at a big-box store, I was pleased to see that there really are budget-friendly items here. That it might be better to do a smaller project with high-quality yarn rather than buy a large quantity of cheap stuff. The owner was very friendly and helpful. It was so nice talking with her. She didn't make me feel like I was expected to make a purchase. Narrator: the reviewer did in fact make a purchase. So - we will see how this "magic loop" knitting works. Wish me luck! I know that if I have trouble I can go back for advice...don't try that at a big-box store!

Lovely yarn store, lovely staff. The owner is such a kind person; on my first ever visit when I…read morementioned that I wanted to start spinning yarn, she actually gave me a 3D-printed Turkish spindle and some scrap fiber to practice with--for free! She also keeps a lot of her reptile pets in the back, and so had the opportunity to hold two of her snakes. (But for those who don't like reptiles, don't worry-- you can't see them unless you go in the back room.) Very friendly and knowledgeable overall. Nice selection of yarn fibers, colors, and prices. I've seen some cashmere, cotton, wool, acrylic... probably ~$40 a skein on the more expensive end. (Cashmere is a luxury fiber, after all.) But there's plenty of more cost-effective options for the thrifty crafter. There is also some wool roving for sale-- the braids in the basket near the front run about $25, but I've been able to buy wool by the ounce that she keeps in the back for some very reasonable prices: I've seen $2.50 to $4 an ounce, depending on the breed. Those fibers tend to have a bit of VM to pick out, but nothing unmanageable. There are a couple couches and a table to sit at if you want to hang out and craft. It's a super cozy environment. I'm a happy customer!

They have a lot of infant and smaller toddler clothes but not a huge selection for bigger kids. They are an authorized Jellycat retailer, which is great for those on the hunt! Their items are priced on the higher end for gifting but they carry some really great brands that are made to last (think heirloom quality). Then, after driving all the way from mid-town Omaha, the person at the counter was not friendly or helpful. I asked about framing an embroidery piece I had finished and asked about having no glass in the frame. Then she said something like "well, it depends on if you want it to last or not." I said of course I wanted it to last and she said "you should get glass because yada yada yada." I should have left then. But against my better judgment and gut instinct, I asked for a quote and again she was pretty rude and answered "I'm happy to give you a quote but I am not doing any framing at this time." It was the tone of her responses that was just so rude. I guess the car accident she was in didn't just hurt her neck or whatever ability she had to frame items, but definitely injured any warmth, kindness, hospitality or helpfulness. I will not EVER darken her door again. Do NOT recommend this place.

I visited Nebraska Quilt Company today and was met with a familiar experience there from my past…read morevisits. Upon entering the store, I noticed that 3 people were working there, two ladies and one gentleman. One of the ladies said "hello" and I responded. After that I spent 40 minutes perusing the store shelves and enjoyed seeing the great selection of fabrics, thread, and patterns. So, why did I give the store 1 star? Because in that 40 minutes, after the initial greeting, not one salesperson looked at me or asked if I was looking for something in particular. In fact, the gentleman went out of his way to avert his eyes in the two encounters we had so he wouldn't have to talk to me. I won't say I won't ever go back there, but I will be seeking out the quilt shops I know that are happy to have a customer (I was the only one in the store today...go figure) and that have equally as beautiful fabrics. I'll be spending my dollars in Omaha, West Point, Wahoo, or Grand Island, maybe even Belleville, KS where I feel valued and appreciated for my patronage, unlike Nebraska Quilt Compnay.
