From making a reservation, picking out our ceramic plate, choosing colors and a design, and then waiting about a week while they glazed and fired it. They even gave me a call when it was ready for pickup. We made a "Cookies for Santa" plate and it turned out so cute. The staff was incredibly helpful, too. We struggled to get a good baby handprint, and one of the employees suggested doing a footprint instead, genius and way easier! I'll definitely be coming back!

The main challenge is the layout of the studio. It's pretty tight, with a lot of tables in a limited space. Since you're frequently getting up to grab glazes and tools, it can feel a bit crowded navigating around...especially if the studio is busy. Overall still a fun experience, but the cramped setup takes away just a little from what would otherwise be a really relaxing activity.

If you attend a community event, be sure to also check out the exhibits or follow The Lux online--they feature some truly powerful artwork that's absolutely worth seeing. I also love learning about their artists-in-residence and really appreciate their commitment to diversity and inclusion. A friend gifted my young son a pottery class, and he absolutely loved it. I'd love to attend more classes or the day camps, but they are a bit pricier than other options, so we haven't yet. The Lux truly has a heart for engaging children in the arts. I popped in here before Christmas per the recommendation of another business owner in the plaza…read more Upon entering, I was greeted very warmly by the employees! I stopped and talked to them for a bit to get the gist of the shop. They were excited to tell me about their products and classes offered! The retail space is made for many different vendors to showcase and sell their products. They had such a fun variety! They also were beginning to offer a great deal of classes for people to come in and create their own art! I would love to be able to do a class here someday!
