Cross Country Omelette
Manny R.

This place is kind of like a copy of Denny's. With all the mom and pop breakfast spots in Tulsa there's a lot better breakfasts to be had. I ordered a cross country omelette sub the hash browns for grilled tomatoes. The omelette wasn't fully cooked, cheese wasn't melted and no ranchero sauce. Coffee taste it more like tea with how watered down it was. Service was good but the food was mediocre at best.

Delicious pancakes and pies!!! Breakfast standard eggs meat and hash browns. Pepsi was bit flat, she said always like that. Server did great then towards end didn't see her for awhile. Large portions. Get your home made pies just in time for holidays. Nice and clean and always full house. The elders love it!

Strawberry Cheesecake Crpe Combo

We didn't know what to expect because I googled 'restaurants near me open' and this popped up. It was a bit of a drive, so we hoped it would be good. Our server, Shawna, was excellent. She told us what her personal favorites are and why. Very professional and attentive. I had the cheesecake crepe combo with cheese and onions on my hash browns. Everything was delicious, the crepes were amazing! There were fresh strawberries inside and out, and the cheesecake filling was perfect. The decor reminded me of a casual diner back in my hometown in New Jersey, so to me it was homey and friendly. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Love Village Inn!! I am never not satisfied no matter if it's breakfast or a burger even the salads are great!! Tonight's server was Ashley and she was so sweet and helpful. The service is always terrific and friendly too. There's such a family feeling when you're here...comfortable and welcoming with good food!!

Wheat toast, 1 egg, avocado

The parking lot was packed but we got seated as soon as we came in! They had two bussers who were very attentive to cleaning tables and getting dirty dishes off the tables. I got two huge slices of wheat toast, 1 waffles, and some avocado. It wasn't much avocado but that's okay! My hubs got bacon, biscuit and gravy, taters, and 2 egg cheese omelette! The bacon wassss a huge hit! The seasoning on it was phenomenal! Our server was great and she brought my hubs two drinks to get him started which was awesome since we didn't ask! Will def be back!

Went to village inn recently, fairly late at night and with a pretty large group of people. They did a pretty good job of accommodating us. They put us in their party room, which is toward the back around the corner kind of. I don't think I knew that was there so I wanted to make sure to include that in this update too! They also mentioned that they had another group in their party room on the other side (so, now I know there are two party rooms!). They aren't super big... basically just big enough to hold one long table. Probably seats about 25-30 max? Still a good way to get large (and let's face it, loud) groups out of the way. At first, because we were a larger group than expected and because it was somewhat later at night I assume, the service was a bit frazzled and caused them to be a bit rude even. They sort of made it seem like they were inconvenienced by us being there and having to keep the chef(s?) there longer (though in our defense, this location is open 24hrs so someone was gonna be there anyways whether we were there or not) and told us we needed to be quiet. I totally understand both frustrations, it just came across as a bit rude at first. This was mainly coming from a man who I assume was in charge at the time, so again, I kind of get where he was coming from. We did feel kind of bad about bringing in so many people out of nowhere and at a less common time, so we did offer to go somewhere else, but they said it was fine. Anyway, eventually they got nicer to us as we were there longer and I think some of the initial frustration of us being there wore down a bit. Our waitress, I think her name is Jimmie?, especially warmed up to us and I think she did a great job. It's hard work to be the only waitress with a group of AT LEAST 20 and she not only did a good job but did it while staying polite and even lighthearted, as she joked around with us a bit. Also, despite there being so many of us with only one of her, anytime I made a request it was taken care of SO quickly!!! Like when I asked for ranch to go with my meal (as she was still handing out other people's plates) and a to-go box at the end, it was there when she came back to the table the very next time... I didn't even have to remind her like I normally would in similar situations, or even less crazy situations! I wasn't expecting that, so I wanted to mention that too in this update!

We could tell there were a lot of repeat customers. The diners were enjoying their food and the servers seemed happy to be there. They seemed to enjoy talking to their regulars. I got chicken fried chicken and Dan got chicken fried steak. Both were good, but mine was better. That might be because I always prefer chicken fried chicken. The way the Brookside diner prepares chicken fried chicken is outstanding. I got a large piece of chicken that filled my plate. It was also thick. Some diners pound thin pieces of chicken to the point it's so thin that it is overdone in the time it takes to get the breading crisp. Not Brookside. They produce a perfect chicken fried chicken, nice and crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. I noticed a chalk board listing the specials. The day we were there, it was meatloaf. I also noticed some tempting deserts which I plan to get when I don't eat such a large meal. I enjoyed my experience at the Brookside Diner. Looking forward to our next visit.

A scrambled or fried egg can only get just so bougie, same for bacon, pancakes, etc. What makes a diner stand out from the rest? In my experience it's ingredients sourced from suppliers that are outside the mainstream, and excellent service. This isn't Tally's. Tally's is a celebration of the mediocre. Once, years ago, I ordered a breakfast burrito and I got a white log on a plate that sat under a heat lamp too long. There was no sauce on it or anything on the side, just a slightly stale tortilla wrapped around some filling. Meh... I went again this morning hoping for a better experience. I ordered the corned beef hash since it's not a typical diner breakfast. Though there were only a few tables occupied it took 20+ minutes to get my food, and though it had a decent enough taste there was a chalkiness to it that put me off. I also opted for a biscuit rather than the pancake that appears on the menu, and it had a sourness to it that I just couldn't figure out. The biscuit and gravy were cold too. The staff seem to be disinterested unless you're a regular. The toaster caught fire and required three fourths of the staff to deal with it. Also, while I waited they brought out a plate of food that was apparently today's lunch special, and the entire staff stood around it taking pictures with their phones while I watched from my booth. Even the cooks came out! They totally ignored everyone in the dining room. This went on for 10+ minutes. However, on the positive side, I see loads of people eating at Tally's every day! It's very popular! They also serve meals to service members and others at the Holidays, so credit where credit is due. I'm happy they support the community. Good on them for that! I wish more restaurants did the same. For that they get a second star.

Phill sold the restaurant to Tim after owning the place for 23 years in 2020 when COVID hits its peak. After buying the place, Tim has never bothered to change the name on Yelp but the name has been changed to Tim's Diner on Google. The best thing about this diner is all the original staffs continue to work for the establishment bringing over their experiences as well of plenty of attitudes. All the employees are a little of "older" age and I love that. The only thing I don't like here is the tip system. You pay at the cashier in the front who will ask you if you would like to add a tip then the cashier would add a tip in for you and you don't have to sign anything. I prefer if they just charge me for the amount and give me the merchant copy and I can add a tip in myself. The way they're doing it puts pressure on their customers to tip. This diner has Tim's $8 favorites menu which is one of the best features, making breakfast very affordable. The food is delicious.
