I stopped by this place around lunch time and the place was pretty empty. The two employees were very friendly. I got the jalapeño & cheddar bagel toasted plain. Bagel was ok. The jalapeno and cheddar flavor was good but the texture of the bagel was a little bit hard. Probably was a morning bagel. Also I got a chocolate Dutch muffin. Muffin was moist and delicious. It was good muffin overall. Last I got a capuchino with a single shot. Cappuccino was ok. I think the coffee beans could be better for cappuccinos. The service was not with a smile. When ordering our food, they were rude. For example, slammed down the paper when taking our order and made a face. The service was quick when it came to getting my order swiftly however, the order and food itself was not great. We got an everything bagel with strawberry cream cheese and a chicken cutlet with mozzarella on a roll. The strawberry cream cheese almost tasted expired and we found a bone within our chicken cutlet . I've been to many bagel places over the years. and these bagels were just not great. This is my go to place to get bagels for office meetings. They always have the flavors that I want and offer speciality cream cheese options for easy access They are always patient with me when I am trying to decide the types that I want. They are rather pricey but the texture and taste is worth it if you ask me when you want to splurge. read more

Great find, on the way back to the airport, to snag some bagels for the next couple days. Caught them right at closing, but they were friendly as could be and didn't make me feel rushed at all. Good bagel selection ~ Plain * Poppy * Sesame * Onion * Rye * Salt * Cinnamon Raisin * Garlic * Blueberry * Multigrain * Spinach * Pumpernickel ~ to name a few. I got a sampling of what they had left on hand (it was the end of the day). They have large indoor seating area and also serve breakfast and lunch. Different kinds of breakfast sandwiches to go along with their breakfast grill creations. For lunch they have soups, salads and sandwiches. Prices are reasonable bagels are $1.25 each (discount for volume purchase), egg sandwiches are around $3.00 each and lunch sandwiches/panini's are between $7 and $8.50 (a few priced higher). Harry, the manager of Village Bagel is exceptionally helpful when it comes to service. A group of retired men meets for coffee daily and it's like being at home. The coffee's hot and the wide variety of plain and specialty bagels are made daily and are delicious. In addition, he provided everything for a weekly outing for the Y's Men of Westport/Weston on-time, exactly to our specifications and he went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied. I go to Village Bagels pretty much 3x a week for their jalepeno bagels and spreads. They introduced ApplePay this summer which was great and I went even more often for my morning bagel and milk. Went today and they charged me 55 cents extra for using ApplePay so my bagel costs $1.80 (they were out of chocolate milk). When I asked about this I was told to pay cash instead next time. What a RIP OFF and poor response. They just lost a lifetime customer. read more

Fairfield, CT I'm continuing on with an earlier posted review, since there was simply not enough room to express how dirty they treated my friend and I, both customers that they had severely overpay them. I think the funniest occurrence, and the point where the only reaction one can have is laughter, is that he suggested I come in the next day. After wasting my time ordering the sandwich, calling back and dealing with an ignorant manager, and even more ignorant servers for 20 minutes, there was no way I was coming back the next morning in a snowstorm. I'm sitting here typing this looking outside to 5 inches of snow that are just starting to form, and this man had the audacity after repeatedly wasting my time and frustrating me, to ask me to return. I told him I was getting my refund right then and there just for that question. The ignorance of the people that work here to think about anyone but themselves and their free time at work is appalling. Anyone who wants to waste their time and money on the worst customer service found in Fairfield County, go here. Finally, I convinced the server to give us a refund, and then came the debate over not having two receipts. This argument I fully understood, working in a deli in Fairfield myself I would never give refunds without a receipt. I wouldn't have been further angered if it wasn't for the woman who served us originally ignoring our repeated request for two receipts. Again, the servers decided to blame us for their own unintelligence and disarray of a work staff. At this point I told him I would just leave the absolute worst review including all of their names, but their names don't matter to me. It is the full staff and their uninterest in customer service that's concerning. He angrily ripped out a $10 bill and $5 bill, throwing it at my friend, obviously at his wits-end having to do any actual work at work. I looked at him calmly and said, "should we rip this $10 bill in half to split the money because as I have repeatedly said, we paid separately. And understanding numbers and simple addition would make you understand that the sum of what we individually paid is $16.60, so you're still trying to dupe us after all of this". That was the utmost disrespect that he basically flung money at us. Whatever it is that caused this anger, I shouldn't have had to deal with it on a Sunday morning. Save yourselves the headache. Got a spinach bagel. It was so artificially flavored it could have glowed in the dark. I asked the guy when I took it out of bag, 'this is a spinach bagel?" Then told him I can't give all that artificial color to my little one. So he so very nicely gave me an egg bagel and let me keep the spinach bagel. The egg bagel was the big, fluffy type I like- perfect chewy texture. It just lacked flavor. But if it had it, it would have been a (for once!) good CT bagel. I was going to throw the spinach one away or give to someone but I was still starving. I took a bite and it surprisingly had good spinach flavor. Too bad it was ruined with all the coloring. This morning we went there, waiting to make order, older gentelman (employee) came towards us blowing his noise loud, with one gloves in his hand touching the counter tops his dirty napkin and asking "do you wanna order?" I've been coming to this place for years and I've never been disappointed. Ok, maybe I'll be a little annoyed at myself for getting there late on a Sunday after all the jalapeño cheddar bagels are gone. Those are my absolute favorite - crunchy cheese and delicious jalapeños to add just the right amount of heat. The people that have been working here have been there since I've been going and are always friendly and patient even when they're super busy. I agree with a couple of the above reviews, they have a "non cash adjustment charge" I understand, its a % for the business every time a customer uses a card, that's not the problem. The problem is not letting your customers know that you add this charge every single time one of them uses a card (which is probably 90% of your business) These 55 cent add ons add up, probably to the time of hundreds-thousands of dollars a month. read more

Food wise: these are great bagels. Nice selection of flavors and crispy. Customer service leaves something to be desired. This used to be my go to place when picking up bagels for work. Sometimes I order ahead online. This particular morning, I needed them earlier than the online site allowed me to specific for pickup. So I walked in about 7:30. Not another soul in the place and 3 employees that I could see. I said that I needed a dozen and a half bagels and please needed them cut. The guy literally said no he wouldn't cut them. I explained that I needed them cut. He huffed and puffed and told me I should have ordered ahead. I explained that the website didn't allow me to have this early of a pickup and thanked him for cutting them. He literally glared at me while cutting them and told me TWO more times that he wouldn't do this next time. Then one customer walked in and he said "see this is why I can't cut them for you" implying that I was causing a backup. I told him to forget it and put the bagels in he bag, which he ignored. I understand it was an inconvenience to him but 1. No need for four reminders and 2. A bagel shop should probably be more lenient with their cutting policy. I wanted to give the small shop my business but next time I will happily walk a few doors down to Panera. read more

been here many times, mostly just to grab a bakers dozen of their fresh bagels .. especially like the whole wheat sesame bagels and kids always dig the crazy rainbow bagels (check out the pic!). they make a decent cup of coffee too, and for a bagel shop open later than most. have had many sandwiches and they are always very good - egg & cheese in the morning, some good vegetarian options too. their bagels are pretty good, especially when they are fresh - ask whats hot! i think these guys used to own a few other bagel shops and have narrowed it down i think to just this one and the norwalk and fairfield one - the one in milford is called something else now, i think they may still have bagels but i think the westport one was always better!! read more

This place is really going down hill After years of going there I had a very unpleasant experience I usually get the salad mixed for you , the menu clearly states 6.99 for a choice of 5 ingredients including one protein. Stopped in recently to get a few bagels with cream cheese. Paid extra to get veggie cream cheese and there were no veggies in it at all! When I asked the manager if there was a mistake with the order he grabbed the bag out of my hand looked at the bagel and said that it was correct. Really??? Where are the veggies? He said they are "all ground up in the cream cheese". I threw the bagel away since he now had put his hands all over it and walked out. Will NEVER ever be going again.
