a car parked in a parking lot

Came here for the first time, because of the good reviews. Let me start off by saying the customer service was excellent. It was my first time here, so I needed to look over the menu and had questions. They answered my questions and gave me time to complete my order. They then took my order quickly and my food was done in less than ten minutes. Also, it looks smaller on the outside, but when you come in there is more space. I had a breakfast burrito (bacon egg and cheese with peppers and onions and a special sauce), rainbow bagel with cream cheese not toasted (not pictured, my daughter devoured it before I could take a picture) and a sausage egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel. The food was all very good, like real good. I like their eggs and that sausage patty was very good. My only few issues which take this from a 5 star review to a 4 star review was that the bagel and breakfast burrito were both extremely soggy. I don't know why, I didn't let it sit too long. The burrito I might understand being a little soggy because of the grease from cooked food and sauce, but this was extreme. And I still don't understand why the toasted bagel was soggy. The bacon in the wrap was a bit chewy and a little fatty, now that could be partially on me for not asking for them to cook crispy / cook it hard. And lastly, I checked-in at the correct location but was unable to use the free small iced or hot coffee coupon. They might have just not known which happens, but just wanted to mention it incase anyone checks in and tries to use it. They were apologetic about it though, which I appreciated. Other than those small, easily fixable things. This is a 5 star place for sure. I will definitely be back. Oh, and yes there is parking outside in their lot. WIN!

Regardless of the length of the line, these are by far the best bagels in Stamford. You can see the passion for great service and great bagels as soon as you walk in the door. I especially appreciate the cleanliness of the restaurant, which is unlike some other local bagel places. Fresh, homemade cream cheese in many flavors are displayed in clean glass cases, as are the bagel flavors. Pro tip: get there early if you have a favorite flavor, as some of the populars tend to sell out. I especially enjoyed the Super Onion! We always order two bagels, one with lox (The New Yorker) and the other with bacon, egg, and cheese and split, so we get a half of each. You cannot go wrong with what has become our regular Sunday stop! Who knew you could get New York bagels a good hour outside of the city.

Line out the door when Hubs and I went to get a bagel on Sunday but it moved quickly and service was friendly and prompt. I got a New Yorker (a lox bagel sandwich) on a toasted egg bagel with scallion cream cheese. I loved that they asked if I wanted any specific cream cheese rather than just proceeding with regular and there was a healthy load lox and evenly distributed capers and onions. At the end of the day though - and this is entirely a matter of personal opinion/preference - the bagel itself was a little too soft for my liking, even after being toasted. Village Bagels is a convenient few minutes from my home so I'm certain to return for convenience sake but this Jersey girl is still on the hunt for that perfect crusty outside but soft inside bagel in CT.

    Does not respect the shmear

Does not respect the shmear. I need a glass of water to take this dry bagel down. Bagel and cream cheese means cream cheese not the aura of cream cheese.

What a disappointment. This place used to be my go to. Never again. Bought a New Yorker (bagel, cc, nova, tom, onion) costing nearly $13!!! And this garbage is what I got - literally a SINGLE very very thin slice of nova. What an absolute RIPOFF! It's so insulting! Never. Ever. Again.

Best bagels in Stamford, CT! Great coffee and prices as well. Line always moves quickly thanks to efficient staff members. I'm a big fan of the New Yorker - lox, cream cheese, red onion, and tomato, but any of their other sandwiches are tasty as well. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

And while the menu inspired me to try so many options, I was corralled into only a precious few since nearly none of those options were available. Black garlic spread? Nope, not available. Honey jalapeño spread? Sorry, we're out. But the Green Goddess spread, described as "herbacious", sounded good atop my Himalayan blue poppyseed bagel(!). The amiable woman at the counter somehow intuited I wanted tomatoes and for good measure I added capers. And then she kindly offered to make it open-faced and to bring it to me at their outdoor table. Wonderful, caring service. Nice! My friend wanted coffee, and drip - his preference - was available (others were not). He gave the coffee a solid thumbs down: watered and weak. I preferred a hot tea and at first was denied because something - I don't recall what - was broken (backup microwave not available). But ha! The kind lady then offered to "run the water" through the latte machine to get that hot cup going. And her intuition again arose to offer me an Earl Grey, my preferred flavor. But let's go back to that bagel (see photo): a bit small, or traditionally-sized, if you prefer. The spread had the consistency of crème fraiche, meaning it was thinner than cream cheese. That's fine, though it wasn't particularly herbacious as described, perhaps just delicate in flavor. However it was pleasant. My biggest disappointment was with the gravlox serving, which was decidedly tiny. That was a letdown and may ultimately decide whether to return. Honestly it seems ownership may have bitten off more than they can chew. The grand aspirations of the menu were hardly to be found, offering only a distant glimmer of what could have been. And machines do break, but sheesh, you absolutely need access to hot water if you're going to serve the morning crowd. If I do return I'll have to ensure I'm less hungry, for starters. And I'll need to go with a different friend, as my companion today will not return due to the coffee. While I appreciate their approach, there are some rough spots that will require flexibility.

Good morning everyone, renowned food critic Haywood Jablowme here. I'm back on yelp to sing my most…read moreprofound praise for perhaps the finest culinary establishment in the United States. The first time I happened upon Lenny's Bagels, or, as my band of ragtag companions and I now fondly refer to it, Lenny's Whorehouse, I was immediately struck by its unique odor. There's really just something in the air over at Lenny's. The smell evokes the image of a deceased and decaying fish being defecated upon by a large dog with IBS (and worms), and yet, there's something alluring in its nature- the decision to walk into Lenny's is most comparable to the internal conundrum that crops up when passing a wreck on the freeway. You're interested, enthralled, even, but do you look? Do you enter? Anyways, onto the service, and most importantly, the BAGELS. The man or woman behind the counter will do it all. Take your order, craft your sandwich, take your cash or glance down their nose at you with disdain after you refuse the option to tip the person who most likely just nutted in your food for even daring to enter the building. The whole process will take months or more- I once ordered a bagel with cream cheese and received a call notifying me of its preparedness 18 months after the initial request- so bring a sleeping bag and the essentials. Make sure to stock up on amphetamines, because the staff will gun you down mercilessly if you fall asleep while waiting for your order (the sleeping bags are merely for comfort). Leaving before your order is ready will also result in a swift demise; make sure you depart undetected. They have a number of signs bearing inspirational quotes relating to bagels, either through cringe-inducing wordplay or simply an oddly placed fact. Keep in mind that while these quotes are undoubtedly stirring, they inspire suicide and not much else. For example, my personal favorite, "Sorry, I was thinking about BAGELS." This one I happen to find misleading- Lenny's is more likely to be the subject of white-knuckle, cold-sweat nightmares rather than wistful daydreaming. It remains my preferred Lenny's sign only because the other quirky quips that hang upon the establishment's walls create an inescapable rather than manageable compulsion towards self-harm- think Bird Box (2018). Some may find the Lenny's experience off-putting, but I would counter the argument that it is a disreputable business by drawing on the modern proverb, "If you can't take the heat, get out the kitchen". Lenny's is for the bold, and the yellow-bellied will not escape with their lives. If you're a fellow sadomasochist, feel free to add me on snap (andrewcb21) where we can discuss our next trip to Lenny's Bagels!!!
