Right before I moved away from Stamford, this place clearly got new ownership. I don't recall much changing, and from the outset it doesn't seem like it now either. Yes, they have a new section of Latin pastries, but otherwise it looks the same. The bagels are the same, the service is the same. But man, they really try and stiff you on what goes ON those bagels now. I had to ask for extra cream cheese to get what I'd consider a decent starting point. Their regular amount seems actually pretty difficult to accumulate with a knife without putting some back. New ownership is clearly a bit cheap and that's sad. Stamford has bagel places, but most are pretty mediocre to bad. This wasn't one, but now that's no longer the case. read more

Came here for the first time, because of the good reviews. Let me start off by saying the customer service was excellent. It was my first time here, so I needed to look over the menu and had questions. They answered my questions and gave me time to complete my order. They then took my order quickly and my food was done in less than ten minutes. Also, it looks smaller on the outside, but when you come in there is more space. I had a breakfast burrito (bacon egg and cheese with peppers and onions and a special sauce), rainbow bagel with cream cheese not toasted (not pictured, my daughter devoured it before I could take a picture) and a sausage egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel. The food was all very good, like real good. I like their eggs and that sausage patty was very good. My only few issues which take this from a 5 star review to a 4 star review was that the bagel and breakfast burrito were both extremely soggy. I don't know why, I didn't let it sit too long. The burrito I might understand being a little soggy because of the grease from cooked food and sauce, but this was extreme. And I still don't understand why the toasted bagel was soggy. The bacon in the wrap was a bit chewy and a little fatty, now that could be partially on me for not asking for them to cook crispy / cook it hard. And lastly, I checked-in at the correct location but was unable to use the free small iced or hot coffee coupon. They might have just not known which happens, but just wanted to mention it incase anyone checks in and tries to use it. They were apologetic about it though, which I appreciated. Other than those small, easily fixable things. This is a 5 star place for sure. I will definitely be back. Oh, and yes there is parking outside in their lot. WIN! read more

Yummy fresh bagels, and great homemade cream cheese. They have an extensive menu that I have yet to try, but the 3 bagels I have gotten so far have all been really good. I like the onion bagel with scallion cream cheese. My father got a everything bagel with locks and cream cheese, and he said it was good too. The staff is nice and always eager to please. However, the pastries off to the side are not that great. I sampled 3 different ones and they were only meh. They weren't bad, but not very good. They tasted kinda stale and cheap. That being said, I'm not going to a bagel store for pastries, so it's fine. The main character of the store is delicious and that's all I care about. read more

Regardless of the length of the line, these are by far the best bagels in Stamford. You can see the passion for great service and great bagels as soon as you walk in the door. I especially appreciate the cleanliness of the restaurant, which is unlike some other local bagel places. Fresh, homemade cream cheese in many flavors are displayed in clean glass cases, as are the bagel flavors. Pro tip: get there early if you have a favorite flavor, as some of the populars tend to sell out. I especially enjoyed the Super Onion! We always order two bagels, one with lox (The New Yorker) and the other with bacon, egg, and cheese and split, so we get a half of each. Line out the door when Hubs and I went to get a bagel on Sunday but it moved quickly and service was friendly and prompt. I got a New Yorker (a lox bagel sandwich) on a toasted egg bagel with scallion cream cheese. I loved that they asked if I wanted any specific cream cheese rather than just proceeding with regular and there was a healthy load lox and evenly distributed capers and onions. At the end of the day though - and this is entirely a matter of personal opinion/preference - the bagel itself was a little too soft for my liking, even after being toasted. Village Bagels is a convenient few minutes from my home so I'm certain to return for convenience sake but this Jersey girl is still on the hunt for that perfect crusty outside but soft inside bagel in CT. read more

I've been shopping at this place for years, at least three times a week. The staff used to be really friendly and knew what they were doing. A few months ago, I went in and was helpd by some new people who didn't understand anything I said. I get that English isn't their first language, but come on! basic things like cream cheese and coffee should be in their vocabulary. I mean, that's way they do evryday. The first time, I got it; they were in training. But now, it's still the same, and I always order the same thing. If I'm lucky, the guy in the cap is there to help translate. It's just become a challenge to place an order. Plus, the staff doesn't always seem to have the best personal hygiene. It's a shame because it used to be one of my favorite spots. Now, instead of leaving with a good experience, I just end up frustrated with wrong orders or struggling to communicate with the girls when the guy isn't around :( read more

Came on a Sunday morning around 930 am and it was busy which is always a good sign! Friendly and quick service and very reasonable pricing. I got a whole wheat bagel with egg cheese and sausage and my husband got sesame with garlic herb cream cheese. The bagel was a little top soft for my liking but totally my preference to have a little crunch on the outside. I would probably get it toasted and with cream cheese next time. Love this place. The cream cheeses are so good and fresh tasting. I usually get scallion cream cheese with turkey and tomatoes & its usually enough for breakfast and lunch. The ladies that work there are so sweet, especially the older white woman-she is an absolute doll. I've always received great service here and I've never had skimpy cream cheese (as other reviews stated). The jalapeño cream cheese is very spicy so be prepared! Great spot. The bagels are fresh and there is soooo much variety. I can see how some reviewers dislike the BEC sandwiches, but honestly....you're at a place known for bagels! Not bacon or eggs! I was just at this place to get a New Yorker and BLT, and, as usual (the last ten times in a row) no matter who makes it, it is always so poorly made. They barely put anything on it: I wish I took a picture this morning, there were literally three extremely small slices of salmon. Maybe it's because I'm not from here that I don't understand the comments about speed for this place. That being said slow down, enjoy the food and people here. If you think they're slow it's probably because you are in a rush (mostly everyone out here thinks they are), show up a bit earlier...problem solved. The people are very friendly, their bagels are awesome (especially the onion with jalapeño cream cheese), and this is my go-to breakfast stop.
